Nope, Thats not a FZ's stand. FZ's stand is pretty wide near the pivotal joint.
When i visted last time at PEARL, KKP they were fixing the same stand to a R15. But he said it cost 800. But its printed 576 on it.

thats the stand made specifically for R15.

This is going outta hand...How come Pearl Kukatpally has stock of stands whereas Pearl Gachibowli is still waiting? I need to call Murthy. If its there, I'll go tomorrow itself. Need to get my pending water wash&chain loosening done too!

          • Clutch cable broken....

yesterday i had a very bad experience with my r15..
i stay at kandivali, mumbai. i was on my way home from andheri. on malad highway my clutch cable just broke.....

i called the factory shop at malad west (which is a good 5 - 6 kms away from where the cable broke) and asked if they had any towing service and they said no. it was almost 6.50 pm and the service center closes at 7.00 pm after which no bikes are allowed into the compound. in the end they gave my registration number to the security and confirmed that my bike will be allowed in.

i then spotted a towing van which is used by the traffic police and asked them if they could take the bike to the service center and this is what they had to say..
            "haan le ke jaayega na"
            i asked "kitna paisa lagega?"
            he said "500"
i said "gadi ka towing charge 300 aur bike ka 500 kaise?"
he said "bada gadi hai na toh 500 lagega.."
            i said thank you...

now there was only one way to reach the service center.

while sitting on the bike i pushed it , put it in the first gear and it got started. but because of the traffic i had to push it most of the time. i reached the service center at around 8.30 pm. i was completely exhausted by then.

luckly the person who receives the bikes for servicing was still there. he made a job card. i asked him if this will b covered under warranty coz it looks like a manufacturing defect and my bike is not even 2 months old and has done only 1950 kms. so there was no way that the cable could be worn out. whatever be the case he said it is not covered under warranty.

so now the bike is at the service center and i will get it back today.

it was good that i was in the city and not touring anywhere.

any way i wanted to share this with every one as i have not heard this happen with any one else...

and can somebody confirm if this is covered under warrenty or not?

The truth is that the warranty policy is completely a choice of the SS guys. Sometimes a person may have got a certain part replaced/repaired under warranty and others had to pay for the same thing. Unless its a major repair/replacement, do not expect luck. I remember a guy who got his wheels replaced after he crashed in to a pot hole. howzzat!!

@TuliniSarg: Sad that happened to you. As you said, lucky you were in the city itself! It happened to my friend's CBZ-Xtreme once. As for warranty, please check the list of items applicable under warranty. HydBiker has got his radiator replaced under warranty yesterday as it was leaking.

P.S. @All: I think we need to learn how to hold the clutch cable&ride it to the SS, the way the mechanics do it!

                • Clutch cables come under the list of items that are consumables, like disc pad, chain sprocket, etc. I don't think any manufacturer gives warranty cover on consumables!

But, the cable snapping at so few kms is weird. I guess this could have been more caused due to incorrect fitting?

From where did the cable snap? Near the clutch lever?

                    • ^^ Away from the lever??

Whoa it usually snaps usually at the place where it is connected to the lever!!!

                      Any chances foul play involved?

                      • no foul play involved...
it could be due to insufficient lubrication and the cable could be worn our due the friction...
i will be leaving for the ss in some time lets see what happens....

                        • ^^^ Clutch cables, as told by Praful, should not come under warranty.

Also, this is the third or fourth case I have read here in this thread... Almost all of them pretty new bikes.

A clutch cable might get hard on movement but it should not break that too so fast!!! something wrong!

Confirmed with everyone there that it is the R15's stand and that this one is very good. It seems they got another sample few months back but this one is pefect itseems.

Checked with Mr Murthy. No stock in KKP SC even.

Dunno abt that. I was in no mood to go to RamKoti and hence ended the thought there.

                            • hey guys.. i've been reading a lot about the quality of alloys, chain, cables etc.
completed 1300 kms, just experiencing that weird noise from the chain.. hope lubricating it will solve the prob.
but my real concern is alloys quality. is it true that it tends to bend easily compared to others???

Chain noise is common. For some, loosening helps, for others, lubing the chain&sprocket helps. Mine started making noise after 4th Service coz it was too tight.
My 2 cents: The chain is delicate. Avoid riding in heavy rain as much as possible. Even if you do, take care to lube it after that. The manual also says the same thing. In addition, lube every 500kms.

Alloys: They are definitely lighter compared to other bikes. That doesn't mean they're bad. But just be careful not to bang them into a pothole at high speeds say 90-100+! I think that would damage any bike's alloys.
About paint chipping off on alloys, you can use nailpolish to touch them up. I've tried it&t works!
