Rims cost more than that. But 3K for what? The FZ's rear tyre costs less than 2K and labour for both tyres put together shouldn't cross Rs 300... Anything else changed? otherwise it is a little expensive...

PS: Please repost the resized photos... I missed them

So any reviews by a owner using it or heard about it? I guess we need to pair it up with Spitfire cables..!

Jaguar Paw, is it the Spitfire cables you are taking about?

Riaz, call me to know where to get 15% discount on NGK. You'll save enough money on an Iridium plug that you can buy a spare Nickel plug!

You should consider cruiser in that case.

I am sure the handling of your bike will on a toss. If you compare the rear and front tire of R15, you will see that front tire has a middle line tread in it, which is not present in rear ones. This is for a reason, the extra middle tread in front provides extra grip at the center so that the bike goes where ever you want it too.
If you really want to mod your tires then visit the Bridgestone website and see. I am sure you'll find something good with a suitable load index.

            +1..

Even I m eager to see the bike. I was recently enquiring here about IRC tyres for my R15. Havent changed anything yet, but wud luv to see how the bike looks with 140 sec tyres. Please repost the pics dude..

            EDIT :

One thing I wud like mention here is, there's a guy in Mumbai with whom we rode for Parx supercar show a few weeks ago. He has put IRC 120 sec tyre at the rear and swapped the front tyre with the stock rear tyre. I can't say anything bout the handling but the performance had not changed greatly. He has put K&N filters and he weighs no more than 70 kgs. He managed to pull away on almost every signal not just with me but yet another R15er called as Shadowboy(xbhp id). His bike was performing quite well with the fat tyre. Can't say anything bout cornering and stuff because there were hardly any sharp curves in Mumbai on that route.

            • ^^The middle tread of front tire is for water channeling. Helps riding in rains/slush/mud.

@Jaguar: Take care buddy. The R15 rear tire of 100/80 is already mounted on a small 2.5 rim to give it a more rounded profile and better cornering. If u use 140, see to it that the tire does not slip out of the rim. As for the front u cud have used the Fz's front instead of R15 rear. Will give u a better grip for sure.

+1 for that... u should have put the Fz's front tyre,,, coz rear tyre is exactly for the rear side and vice ver...

                • Here at Pearl Yamaha they have those machines to handle tyre jobs. Even with that they say putting on the FZ's rear tyre is very difficult to the FZ's alloy itself as the tyre won't bend (being a radial)..

I was trying to think since yesterday how tough they'd have worked to put the FZ's rear tyre on an R15 alloy!!!

You cannot identify if it is damaged or not. If you want the best acceleration and top speed, replace it. Else, clean it well and use the same. I am not sure about warranty stuff though... but when I wanted to change it the stock was not available...

Just check how you are going to connect the spitfire cables... R15's spark induction cable doesn't come from the coil but there is a wire that comes from the ECU to a High Tension transformer and a very high voltage generated here is transmitted to the spark plug. The cable coming from the HT box didn't have an external connector.

What ever way you find out, please post it here, preferably with photos.

You are in Mumbai and why do you think you have to buy the NGK Iridium plugs on order... it is available at all NGK distributors ready stock and at most NGK dealers. Check at NGKNTK.in for distributors and call them.

dude, the bike looks more solid now

I guess you didn't have trouble with the 140 section tyre touching the swingarm because the FZ's tyre is a very low profile one at 60. Other tyres I have seen were like 80 or 90 profile and people had to chop off their swing arm to accommodate it.
