  • Guys need some help regarding the battery.Since my stock minda baterry is dead , i visited a Amaron dealership in andheri(east) , they quoted me a Rs.1250 for a 5amp pro biker battery with a 5yr warranty ,but unfortunately the battery is taller and didn't fit the casing and the guys there were not skillful at all to do any adjustments for fitting.

So what are the adjustments do I need to make to fit in the Amaron battery , guys who have shifted to amaron plz help !!!

Another option is the tata green battery which is a direct fit , but it seems no brainer coz i was quoted Rs.1400 for a 3.5amp one with only 2yrs warranty .

    • Need better disc setups

I have a Joeled bike and it's going good for last 8K. Only thing I m missing is decent braking power. Recently checked the pads and plates. The plates are in bad shape with several concentric circles of different thicknesses. I am thinking of changing the disc plates in next servicing(inspected and found that rubbing them with sandpaper won't help much). I was wondering about better disc setups like PSM or Apidos or Daytona's disc setup provided by Yamaha...

Anyone using them, please share their review. Also, any other disc setup that's more effective than stock ones, would be very helpful.

        Thats marvelous.

Would there be a similar or better gain using the Knfilter YA-12O8 stock replacement filter for R15? Of course the price quoted for it is 22OO, while for the simota is 16OO plus postage.

Best bet is to just change your discs and pads with the stock gear and upgrade your brake lines to the braided lines, if I recall correctly abhimanyu31 had done this on his ride, looking to do this mod my self shortly. Braided lines will reduce fade as braking progresses and give a much sharper feel.

          • Guys, I have a problem. Whenever my bike has been in direct sunlight for sometime, it doesn't want to start. It is not a matter of opening the fuel tank cap and letting out the vapors. I have already done that.

In the evening when the bike has cooled down, it starts as if there was never a problem.

I am really at my wits end and the Service Centre guys are apathetic. Someone please tell me what to do. Thanks.

You seem to have a vapor lock problem. Ask the mechanic to check the fuel pump pressure (it should be around 250 kPa). Also ensure all clamps and joints are fastened tight. Ask him to check the Air Induction System.

Yoshimura don't make exhausts for the R15.

Other choices are Leo Vince, two brothers,Daytona or Joel's ffe.

Yh your right abhimanyu31 did replace his brake lines to the braided one. I too recall reading about it, in his pocket rocket thread.

Please give more details about theses braided lines; like what advantages it offers, which brand, cost, and how to know its suitable for the r15? Since these lines are made of braided metal exteriorly, wont it attract heat from direct sunlight, and expand, while causing thermal degradation of the brake fluid??

Whats the price of 2 brothers and leo vince for r15?

During last week's g2g i saw joel exhaust on an apache. It did make the apache perky, and jumpy. The DB killer is dildo shaped thingy magik, which fascinated many guys there, and they took turns posing with it. Anyways while going back i was riding behind the apache; i felt like i was being assaulted by circular sound waves into the center of my body and head, from where the waves expanded outwards to my periphery. Making me feel nauseous and light headed.

Guys for the last time, please kindly share any experience of the stock replacement knfilter for r15! Or atleast give me one good reason to not consider the stock replacement knfilter and instead go for simota. From the pics of simota filter, it appears to be made of a thin layer of porous fabric

Bro, any disk plate with a larger diameter WILL provide lesser stopping distance, than the stock. I remember reading an article on this, many whiles back. So switching to braided lines isn't your best and only option. As for reviews i have none, i am all stock at the moment. But i will be watching you closely, as my disk plate is going the same way yours is going.

Additionally my mechanic had told me many times, to throw water at the junction of the pads and the plate b4 riding in the morning, as sand particles get trapped there.

Yes, even I am opting for HEL brake lines (http://www.pitstopperformance.in/upl...ge/red.jpg.jpg) as the last resort. Currently checking for large diameter disc plates( strictly compatible with current setup and plug and play options). Happy to know that Joel offers 300 mm Petal plates with steel braided lines(but very limited stocks). I have time till next servicing and will post any recent developments.

                        • Rear brake pedal adjustment

I'd like to adjust my rear brake pedal downwards to make it easier to use. The service station said it cannot be done. Searching here, I found some posts by @onlinesatish and @jd666 that it can be done to some extent. I have looked at the manual that was posted here long ago and it explains the procedure as below (I'm quoting it to make it stand out).

                          Check:
Brake pedal position (distance “a” from the center of the rider foot- rest to the center of the brake pedal)
                          Out of specification (not 44mm)
                          Adjust.

                          Adjust:
                          Brake pedal position

                          a. Loosen the locknut “1”
                          b. Remove the cotter pin “2”, washer “3”, and pin “4”
                          c. Turn the adjusting nut “5” in direction “a” or “b”
until the specified brake pedal position is obtained.
Direction “a” Brake pedal is raised.
                          D
irection “b” Brake pedal is lowered.
                          d. Tighten the locknut “1” to specification.
                          e. Install the pin, washer, and cotter pin.
Always use a new cotter pin.
                          Questions:
                          1. What tools would be required to do this?
                          2. Would it be fine to use the same cotter pin after adjustment even though the instruction says "always use a new cotter pin"? If not, where do I get the correct cotter pin from (Bangalore)?
                          3. Or would I be better off taking it to the service station and asking them to adjust?

                          Thanks!

This is the one abhimanya31 used. Damn never thought they cost INR 2610 each. Effectively INR 5220 for both front and rear!

Nonetheless i noticed they have KS airfilters too. Stock replacement airfilter by KS are available for R125, which would fit in the R15 also. Wonder if they got it and what the price would be.

Even I was wondering about VFM steel braided lines. Any suggestions. Finally got hold of Apido Petal rotor (300 mm plug and play option for stock). I am waiting for next servicing to get new brake pads, plate and steel braided lines. Do we have local manufacturers for Steel braided lines.

                              • hi guys thanx for the previous helps.. but i have zeroed on fazer of r15 and probably going to buy the r15 v2 (BLUE) april 1st week.(although still confused between r15 or fazer i need some more information.

will fazer require considerably less maintenance compared to r15?
which would give better mileage at speed 80-90 km/h fazer or r15?? also what mileage will i get if i drive below 60 in both?
any big difference in handling in that speed?
i m looking to keep this bike for next 8-10 years. reliablity?

                                IF I BUY R15

is there any thing to do before buying the bike.. like inspecting something about the bike.

does anything come free with the bike apart from the key rings.. 1 friend of mine got a sunglass with szr. (they tend to keep and sell thngs that come fre)

what to negotiate with the negotiator...?? anything can be gained?

what mileage would i get if i drive around 80-90 km/h??(not runin period but after that).

where can i get motul chain cleaner and lube? any cheaper but good altrnative? also need to know about good engine cooling liquid

will be very thankful for your answers... cant go & also not willing to go for other bikes because of height problems and heavy.

                                sorry if posted twice
