it does get a bit warm...obviously it won't remain ice-cold...

              • Hi guys I own a R15 since 2008 its four years old and done ~30K in stock. I wish to share my ownership experience so far. I am just a commuter interested in riding hard so I have done mods with race concepts (Joel). I wish to update my experience with it

                • Met with a crash recently, so i checked the forks and set them alright, the left handle bar was bent and as the YFS dint had a new one in stock they repaired the same. Also changed the fork oil as it already 15k kms on odo.

Now the issue is i am getting vibrations as the bike is between 4k to 7 k mark in 1 to 4th gears rest both gears it goes fine.

Can some one suggest me what to check ?

                  • (Your suggestions towards synthetic oil usage is welcome.)

The coolant level was well above low and had it topped up in SVC itself in 1000 kms oil change. Now bike has done more than 2.5K kms and no sign of change in coolant level. I guess I will stick to the same coolant. What say? Will it serve the purpose, is it worth it for 3K ? I don't know

                    R165 PERFORMANCE AND RIDE EXPERIENCE

No words to describe this, its just extraordinary. For the first time when I red-lined her by just downshifting and accelerating I just saw good numbers in speedo (which I have seen earlier) and I felt no difference, I was like am I goin fast or what? If yes how fast am I going?.

I stopped, ducked and accelerated hard and the rush was past 8k in first gear and then its just numbers jumping fast in speedo, Its very stable that you never feel the speed you do. I continuously kept her past 9 K in all gears and the numbers grew up very fast.

Chennai guys can understand the route I mention below.

When going back to home from office I can take porur - tambaram 6 lane highway. Now I am riding this route to clock more miles as well as for the thrill of short bursts. After few hundred kms past 1K oil change I happen to meet up with ZMA and P220 in the highway. I did not duck, I weigh 90kgs those guys were like 75+ around and they duckd. I just twisted in 4th and 5th gears, you know what? I literally vanished off past them. They had no idea about it but they tried again after I slowed down, one more twist, I did not slow down after that and I vaguely saw them in my RVM. ZMA and 220 are no match for this excellence and I again fell in love with my baby R1.

I had one more similar experience, but its with a CBR 2050R in porur to ambattur road, 6 lane. After the toll gate we both duckd, I guess he must have done some poor shifts in 1&2 gears I went past him and accelerated hard he was behind me up to 120kmph after that we both have to part in a flyover diverting to koyembedu. I kept my baby always past 9K till 120kmph and shifted along with shift indicators. A slight mis shift would have left me behind I suppose. If put to a top speed test I am sure he will get past me in 130ish I think (It may differ with a 70 kg rider)

This time I was so glad, again fell in love and wanted to kiss my baby. It was a wonderful feeling and worth it. Whatever may be the change from stock like cranking, exhaust note.etc all are masked by the performance it offers. Will I ever change to stock exhaust or stock like CAM and sacrifice the performance? HELL NO. Once you experience this its hard to change back.

I wanted to know exactly how much time does it take for 0-100kmph. I know it accelerates fast but there are guys saying 8sec mark or less but I wanted to put a test to it, I had no accessories to test it so left the thought aside. One fine Sunday I got bored and decided to take it for a spin, during the spin a thought occurred to me and I tied my kerchief to the mouth of the helmet and tried to place my mobile in that. The setup was tight and served the purpose of video recording.

I did not remove the DB limiter, I couldn't duck 100% (only duckd around 60% during test) because it affected the speedometer visibility from my mobile, I did not remove any of the standard accessories and I weigh more. After recording 4-5 videos I transferred to my laptop and found that I accelerated to 100kmph around 9 sec (may be little less or little more). I am sure a 70kg rider fully duckd and off the DB killer will easily cut more than 2 seconds with a good launch.

I have attached three links of my acceleration videos. Your comments are welcome, Did I hit 100 in just less than 9sec ?. Please forgive me for the quality of it.

Finally the top speed question. Before MOD I can clock 132-133 max in the 6 lane highway, Now the traffic has increased in this highway drastically so I couldn't put a real test to it after the MOD. Now with the MOD I managed to hit 140 in 5th gear and then change d to 6th It went back to 137 and tried to crawl to 140 but I ran out of road. I am sure I can touch between 140 -145 if continued past that. I can say a relative increase in 8- 10 kmph in top speed for me. This got me curious and mailed Joel asking for gearing change, but he recommended to leave it as it is. I suppose for a commuter like me its advisable to reduce the weight and increase the top whack ( ). A 70kg rider can hit 150 easily I suppose. I don't know how much difference will 20 kg rider and removal of DB limiter will make. Enlighten me please.

I'm curious , how did you crash your bike ?

Dude , one of my Friend's R15 fell down from a stand still position in the Railways Parking Lot ..

The things which got damaged was -

                          1. Right side mirror glass were broken into pieces [ Rs.250 ]
                          2. Front cowl Right side Part paint peeled off and we were able to see the Black Metal part [ Front cowl Rs.750 ]
                          3. Right side Handle bar Twisted down . [ Din't change ]
                          4. Head Light Assembly Holder broken [ The thing which fixes with the Front cowl ] [ Head Assembly costed Rs 2350 ]

                          5. The Relay was Damaged .. The Relay which connects the radiator and there is one part ( I don't know its name ) We can see that part if we open the middle cowl and Right side Fairing

                          Side Effects -

Before he met with this incident , there was no vibrations till 10 k RPM .. We were able to Rev the Bike happily .. But now , if Myself/he shift Each gears i.e 1,2,3 & 4th @ 7 k RPM , the bike struggles to attain the desired speed in each gear at 7 k RPM and hence Vibrations are produced in the handle bar .. We can feel that vibration , which makes our palm and fingers feels Numb or something .. PS- I don't know how to explain .. And myself/shift the gears 5 & 6 @ 7 k RPM there is no vibrations , But Once if it Crosses 8 k RPM Mark again the same Vibrations would Develop .... [ The Bike engine is in good condition and it touched 46 Km speed in 1st gear @ 9.8 Rpm above ] And he Bike Mileage drooped from 38 km/liter in Bumper-Bumper traffic rides to 32 km/liter .. This mileage will be same if he shifts all gears at 6 k RPM and maintain his bike @ 6 K RPM ... If he corsses the 6 k RPM limit his mileage figures was 27 km/liter ...

                          OT-Lol - My Mileage increased from 30 km/liter to 35 km/liter in Bumper-Bumper city traffic rides and constant 45 km/liter on highway rides , Maximum speed 90 - 115 km/hr .. [ I changed my fueling station . Shell has been replaced by Bharath Petroleum ]

Conclusion - According to my point of view , once the bike is dropped or fallen with pressure , the Vibrations would develop ..

Note - This is my personal experience ..

When we asked in the SVC , those mechanic said even you replace the handle bar , The vibrations will still remains .. But , you can ask some other experts in this Xbhp or Outside . If the vibrations reduced or fully Vanished in your bike by doing some Tricky jobs by your own or by listening to other experts means Please Do Share in this thread , So that i will help my friend to get rid of that Vibrations ..

                          Thank you

Same fatal accident can cause one to die and one to survive with injuries. And if the fatality happens to the opposite unknown person the survived ones may not mention that elsewhere.
