I installed Duro tyres rear 120/70-17 and front 110/70-17 on the original rims. The cost set me back a whopping Rs.8500/-. (Metro Tyres at Lamington Road)

As I continue to use the original rims, the rear tyre has 'bunched up' and I have ended up with a profile which is higher than the original 100/80 MRF tyre despite the new tyre having a lower profile. The front seems okay. This has slightly raised the height of the bike as well as causing the bike to lean sharper when on the side-stand. There is also a noticeable loss in speed when riding above 100kmph.

Any ideas how much a suitable rim for a 120/70 section tyre will cost me and where is this available in Mumbai or Pune? If available, will this rim and 120/80 tyre fit without modification in the swing-arm?

All in all, I think this is probably one of the most silliest things I have done and do not recommend this to anyone.
I recently did a short 150 Km trip to Pune and the angle of the bike ended up giving me a pain in the neck and back. Not to mention the drop in top speed - couldnt go above 115Kmph.

I have now reverted back to the original MRF Nylogrip Zappers R 100/80 and F 8/90 and the bike is immediately back to its old self. The tyre set cost me 3600/- from the MRF showroom incl. fitting.

    • Petrol price Rs.70.03 Per liter

filled in Rs.200 Petrol and got a total of 141 Km .. i guess that is good mileage i am getting.

2)a) My bike has vibration on the front .. the visor keeps vibrating and if i enter a pothole my front mirrors shake a lil bit .. the Svc guy in bandra said that he will have to make changes to the Tappet as the engine is causing the problem. i told him to just tighten the fairing but he said that it would not make any change.

      B) i went to a local eng., he first said that there is no problem with the Tappet and its fine .. He said that the back of the bike is loose and the bike shakes when applying brake..where the tire moves a lil back and forth for which the fairing is vibrating . he said that the problem will be solved when u replace some back part which will cost around Rs. 1300 ..

      what do i do ?

            • R15 tyres

Hi guys, what is the current price of R15 front and rear tyres? Also I have done 23000+ kms on the bike. And the tyres seem to be worn out and doesn't grip the roads properly.
I escaped falls on a couple of ocasions. The rear tyre seems ok but doesn't grip well. The front one is totally smooth. Is 23k kms good enough for the tyres life? I'm really confused.
Also if i could get any information about the price in Hyderabad, and the best deals, it would be helpful
A local MRF showroom quoted 3000INR for the rear tyre and 2000 for the front.

              • hehehe.. I changeed both r15 tyres at 16K..
Normal MRF tyre goes till 18K-20K.. And R15's are soft compound tyre.. change them ASAP man..

I guess rear tyre would be around 2200 and front around 1800.. check with 2-3 MRF dealers in your city before going to one of them..

As mentioned, 20K is cut off for these soft compound tyres. Time to change!

                            Hi dude,

Year and a bit more ago, i too had to change my rear tyre @ 17k kms. At that time it had cost me Rs.1600. Very honest and reasonably priced. I didnt do much hunting around. Actually the word then, around was that the tyres were out of stock, some prob at the factory, so is in the process of shipping etc. This worried me, that now the dealers would definitely demand a pound of flesh for a new trye plus it was monsoon, and i had planned to head for nashik soon! So i had called MRF Nerul, the MRF distributors for the whole of Mumbai. I had a chat with a mallu chap there, who had great customer service. He called back within 25mins, after contacting a few dealers in the neighborhood to whom they supplied, told me that there is 'Amar Tyre and Battery in Nerul sector1' . He told me to expect to pay b/w 1600-1800. So i went ahead with the 1800 rs assumption, as the tyre was scarce. Anyways i was deeply struck by the owner{Goldy} charging me the lowest at Rs.1600.. Thanks

Get him to show you the MRP pricelist, I paid 1600 for a front tyre around 7 months back.
