LED tail lamp panel you got... Wish I could get one. How is your bike doing? I think you've sorted out the air leaking issue.I went for lubing the chain sprocket, cleaning air-filter and spark plugs today. I didn't have much time so I will go for greasing the coneset tomorrow. I wish I could do these stuffs at home.. lacking space and tools. The mechanic messed up with the spark plug while cleaning as he told me that it gone damp and had to be put into a gas burner for 3 hours ( the gasket-electrode part)..I don't have any idea about it. He installed a local brand spark plug.. as I was in a hurry I could not do much about it. While returning home I could feel some initial lack of pulling.. I will sort out the spark plug issue tomorrow. I am planning to go for split fire cable and NGK iridium plug. ngk spark plug I am feeling like a stupid about the 3 hours burning thing of the electrode part of the spark plug.. can anyone please let me know about this.. The air leakage problem is still there, but livable [email protected] psi per day rear. Front hardly loses 0.5psi per day, which is normal behavior.
There is still a minor bend I can see in the rim. If that's not the cause, it has to be micro punctures which really can't be helped.
Congrats on getting the Yam. I would suggest you go for NGK Iridium spark plug. Be informed that neither the plug nor the Spitfire cable provide any bump in power or acceleration. All you get is longer life and maybe a more even firing.
I have the plug on my bike since 20K kms.

Sarvajit. Bro I guess you are pretty busy to change the rim.. but would it not be a little risky to ride with a bend rim.. I guess its pretty minor bend and it wont harm that much.

Its great to know that the plug lasted for 20K kms and still performing well.

Thanks. The rim color turned out too gaudy and had to be repainted.
Post this, there have been additions in the form of tyre hugger, fork covers and finally LED tail lamp.
You are right about the bend-it is so small that it is hardly visible and no wobbling whatsoever.
But if it is slowly leaking air, I would like to get it mended.

Has anyone tried dukes 200 front tyre on R15s Rear? If yes then how it behaves on corners and on straights? And how's the wet grip of the tyre.

Hi Guys,
The mileage of my 2010 model r15 is very low.It is giving me some 30kmpl while riding below 5k rpm. I was running it in lower RPM to check its mileage and shifting gears properly. I am using tank full method to check. The last fill took in 4.1 litres for running 120kms.
My earlier 2009 model used to give me more than 40 with the same riding conditions on the same route.
The oil is new, air filter is new, coolant is at top level and cooling the system properly. Need some advice on increasing the average. While I revv the bike to check if RPM increases smoothly, I smell lot of petrol from exhaust. I suspect a rich petrol mixture.
I am thinking to do the catcon removal DIY suggested by

Please suggest something to increase the mileage.

It's a best price IMO. Just check the vehicle engine condition, modifications and tyres. If you find any engine modification then stay away from it.

I can't comment much on that mate because i've bought a used bike and it was like this only when i got it from the previous owner. The bike had hardly done 10k on the odo. After upgrading from fz, I find the handling awesome whatsoever..

Guys, I didn't get any comments or help for increasing the mileage on my bike. I just ran my bike after a tankful for some 51.4 KMS and went to a petrol pump to top-up. Surprisingly it could hold 1.28ltrs and now the average comes to 40.15. This gave me peace again. I went to remove catcon and did all the steps told in the post of HarishK.

The below are the pictures during the procedure. He was an experienced guy dealing with silencers.
Step 1: Cutting around the top most welding ring (just below the topmost welding ring).

Step 2: Removing the big block and cutting the cat-con to remove it.

Step 4: Removed Cat-con with no part still sticking inside the silencer. It was clearly removed by this guy.

Step 5: Then tried to Fix it back but the length was a bit short as the factory welding was burnt and cut out.

Step 6: The welder made a ring kind of metal as shown below and used it to cover the gap.

Step 7: Welded one part with no leaks onto the muffler part and fixed it near the pipe as shown below.

Step 8: Welded around the pipe perfectly and it had no leaks. But there is a factory made hole tiny one from which gas would leak. You can see when u keep your finger below the muffler assembly.

Now there is a noticeable difference in the bike performance. It's low end is just like any other 150 cc bike and the top end is obviously good .

More about the mileage after checking it without cat-con.
After all these I noticed a scratch on the front mask right side (not over headlamp luckily). It was as if the vehicle was rubbed against wall. I do not know where and how it happened but definitely not during welding. Disappointed as it was the first scratch on my bike .

will check on the top speed and other parameters to post more comments on it.
Thanks guys..

Thanks for the information help buddy. And now the more greater problem is after is spoke to the Yamaha SC manager, he said only when it shows the engine light signal then come to us. but everytime unfortunately when the light displays and by the time i reach the SC it does not show any default (saddest part). and manager at SC has already tried checking ECU by connecting the ECU from other bike to mine, and that shows no default(which works properly). i spoke to the other SC about it and he said the ECU shouldnt be a problem. but he said he wil still rectify and check and tell me. so till then i have to either run my bike the same way it is or wait for the engine light to display.
By the way thanks on the info. il check on this from the manager at Yamaha SC too.
Thank you.
