Re: R15 Rough engine sound and vibrations.
#1 Hard to figure out what it is just by reading your comments. Maybe you could record an audio and PM it to me? Could be because of tappets or anything from the camshaft assembly or timing chain gone loose..Originally posted by Harishraj View PostHi Everyone,
I am owning a Yamaha YZF R15 Version 1.0. I had driven 10733 KMS. Until my first service the bike was really smooth and had free throttle. After my first service, the smoothness of the bike has lost. When i asked service guy, he told it will be fine later. Also my bike gets heated up easily if i drive 2-3 KM initially. Now, the heating problem is fine, after i went for changing coolant. There are three problems now.
1. My bike has little bit tapped sound, when i push the start button and rev up.
2. I am getting a loose engine sound, like vibration+loundess. I exactly dont know how to tell that. Noticable vibrations are there. Engine sound is loud when i rev up when compared to other R15s.... Its not a smooth sound, its loud. Much worried about it.
3. Yamalube - Is that a synthetic oil from Yamaha ?? If not, kindly let me know the synthetic oil from Shell or Castrol, whichever is fine.
I am facing these issues and i really dont know whether some owners of R15 version 1.0 facing this same issue or it held fine after some time. Correct me, if i am wrong.
Kindly help me out to fix this issue.
Thanks in advance.
#2 Tappets need to be tightened every 10 - 12K kms. Don't let the tappets go too loose, it might damage the value.#1 and #2 could be inter-related.
#3 Yamalube comes in both flavors. Ask for Semi-Synthetic.
Don't worry too much about your issues. R15 is a pretty solid bike, and there is nothing which can be fixed.

First of all, please don't use SMS lingo on the thread. This is one of the better threads and would appreciate everyone's help in keeping it so.Originally posted by bprashant View Postgm guys........needed some help

The gearing changes made in the V2 are for a purpose i.e. to compensate for increase in the wheel base and increased weight. If you are expecting some dramatic increase in performance and top speed, then expect to be disappointed.
Also be aware that the V2 has a longer wheel base, therefore, the chain is going be longer than the V1 chain.
My advice is stick to the stock gearing and chain of the V1.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Busted a fork oil seal yesterday. While the oil leak was minuscule i could feel a noticeable harshness in the fork dampening. Opened both the forks to replace the oil seal and oil. While the left side fork was ok, the right side had its dust cover gone bad, due to which dust and water was sweeping through.
Consequence, harsh suspension and a collapsing spring which was found to have shorten by 2mm. Hence replaced both the springs too.
I have been changing the fork oil seal and oil once every year, however, I have not been replacing the dust covers. It seems that the dust cover was damaged during the previous installation and hence led to the current busted seal.
Lesson to be learnt from this episode; change the dust covers along with the oil seals when changing fork oil. It's an additional few rupees but it will save a lot of trouble going forward.

can u throw some light on how viabrations from tank and visor and handel bars be removedOriginally posted by Sharan_R View PostFinally all my vibrations Removed from Tank, Front Cowl and Visor. The SS did a good job finally.
I was lubing my chain yesterday and found my chain linkages to be a little up and down. Checked the entire chain, and found similar linkages. Took it to the SS and he told me I would need a entire Chain set and Sprocket Replacement. Now, It's only 15000Kms on the clock.
How many of you have done it already or is there a different solution for a few more thousand kms. But, no Compromises whatsoever.
my r15v1 is 21000 km old and giving tremendouse viabrations at tank and handel bar while pushing her har on low gears
dont understand what might be the problemwith bigger powers comes bigger responsibilities

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Check engine mounting bolts for tank and foot peg vibrations. For windscreen vibrations, check whether it is loose or too tight. A little padding using cycle tube goes long way.Originally posted by 883 View Postcan u throw some light on how viabrations from tank and visor and handel bars be removed
