  • Help!

    Guys,
Recently, my front tyre got punctured twice continuously. I had already completed 15k kms on the bike and the repair guy asked me to change the tyre. But, upon enquiring at all the mrf dealers in the city, i found that they don't manufacture the same tyre (80/90/17) anymore. Eventually I had to settle for a 90/90/17 tyre from mrf itself. I have only driven a little since and din't feel much of difference due to the increased width.
Will there be any problem/ difference due to the changed width/ thread??
    Thanks in advance!

^^ honestly speaking, apart from the difference in weight, it should actually assist you with the cornering. though you might notice difference in top speed. The acceleration part might not be noticeable before 130 or so..o if you drag with another R15.

I have tested the 90/90 profile when I had the R15 and the front feels more planted that the original front Even though it was a second hand,it worked well for me. I did switch back to the original front but it really didn't give me the confidence while cornering which the 90/90 rubber had

Hi there, i just changed my front tyre on Friday. when i asked for the price of 90/90, it was actually cheaper than the stock 80/90 tyre. but i prefered to go with stock tyre. the dealer was hell bent on selling me the 90/90 for reasons unknown. when i asked for the stock tyre, he said he doesn't have stock of it. but later when i went there with an insider (my friend's friend), he gave me the stock tyre and demanded 3k for it. i got it for 2k. still paying more than original price. yes, with the help of the insider. what would be the reason for denying stock tyre? any idea?

The original 80/90 front cost me 2600Rs when I got it change here in Delhi, but that was about a year ago (July 2011). the 90/90 cost me around 1800 I think (around march-april 2011).

As per my understanding the stock one is soft compound while the 90/90 is not (maybe the regular compounds only). I noticed the difference in performance of both in wet conditions only, or else I don't think there is any huge difference until you compare them under extreme conditions.

            • All old timer experts n GURUs kindly suggest me on the list of things to be checked or changed on my bike. This week it will touch 40K kms before weekend.
The things which I have already thought in mind as per the requirement due to wear and tear are:

              1. Chain Set change (this will be 2nd) - i was thinking to go with Gold Chain and stock sprockets, what do you say?
              2. Rear tyre change (this will be 3rd)
              3. Cone Set change (first time)
              4. Monoshock check (this will be done 2nd time, 1st being done at 20K kms)
              5. Coolant flush out and new coolant IN ( is it necessary? )
              6. Brake Pads change.
              7. Alignment of both alloys.
              8. Clutch Wire check and change if necessary.
              9. Sensor clean.
              10. Fairing opened cleaned and checked thoroughly

Anything else Experts kindly advice me on this, thank you

Just sharing my 2 cents on things I ve experienced-
                    1. Chain Set change (this will be 2nd) - i was thinking to go with Gold Chain and stock sprockets, what do you say? I preferred Indonesian ones compared to Indian ROLON. Gold chain and sprockets are good but wayyy costly....
                    5. Coolant flush out and new coolant IN ( is it necessary? Highly recommend to get new coolant after cleaning the reservoir and radiator cleaned. Cleaning is a tedious process though.(Flush old coolant from reservoir, radiator and bore, fill 50:50 mixture of white vinegar and distilled water, start and let the bike idle, flush this mixture and fill distilled water, start and let the bike idle and flush it. Fill fresh Motocool and you are good to go for another two years.)
                    9. Sensor clean. Any specific sensor. Different sensors need different cleaning techniques.

Indonesian make(sprockets and chain) cost around ~2500 and ROLON costs around 1400. ROLON one came as localized parts like brake pads etc made way. Gold chain and sprocket are of Daytona make, if I remember correctly and cost more than 5K for the set.

                          • Guys, I know this could be discussed earlier, but searching in mobile is very difficult.
My doubt is, which all tyres available here can be directly fit to the R15 without modifying the swing-arm? I mean, size more than the stock 100/80/17.

With Gold Chain already with me I will go for it. Just waiting for rainy season to get over though my current chain is running on last setting so lets see how much can i pull on it.

MyBad that I wrote sensor - dont even want to get them touched. I was think to get my FI cleaned up.

he's probably talking about the chain-set that used to come as stock on the older R15s, the DID ones..they were from indonesia..
