I replaced mine 6 months ago and after labor and all it came to 1300/- INr, also check if your front shocks are leaking or need oil replacement.

I would recommend getting risers bolted onto your existing triple clamp and cables (if you end up requiring them). I say so because we have never seen the vixion and hence cannot be fully sure if its front end is exactly the same as ours.

          • Guys my cousin is planning to buy a bike and is confused between KarizmaR (don't like ZMR looks) and Yamaha R15.

No his argument is that Karizma is more powerful thanR15 has it has better torque 18.35NM @ 6000RPM while R15 torque is 15NM @ 7500 RPM. This instantly means Karizma has better pickup than R15. He also says that both bikes have same power i.e. 17PS. Here I tell him that R15's peak power is at 8500RPM while Karizma delivers the same power at 7000RPM thuis R15 is revv friendly and powerful than Karizma.

Please tell what is the basis of saying one biek is more powerful than other?

Is Karizma Powerful than R15 or vice versa?

R15 is a 'feature' rich bike, delta box frame, aluminum swingarm, and many such features re top class, karizma might have same power, you need to weight what u need the bike for. if its touring karizma is better.

R15 has less torque than the ZMR, but in terms of power to weight ratio, R15 is better. Don't buy a bike because it is faster or has a superior acceleration, buy it for the feel of it, though R15 can beat a ZMR in top speed and probably acceleration too..

Not only will the 15 give you a better mileage for each liter considering the practical aspect, even the spare parts of the 15 in case of a fall will be cheaper.

On a completely different note, guys I did a 1250km(one-way) stint in 3 days,
Nagpur-Aurangabad-Pune-Goa on my Aug'08 R15, and back it was a charm on the highway, maintained all sorts of speeds, the max average i got was 51kmpl!!

it takes bad roads pretty well, but you don't feel good doing it.. At the end of it, all i had was a few missing/loose screws here and there..
the soft compounds gripped like hell, got them changed before starting the return journey because chances of rain+ghats+20k old stock tires = trying your luck too hard.

the rear tire had lost a lot of tread, the front was still good to go for another 3-4k. But i got both changed at Goa for 1600-front and 2000-rear...
immediately the handling was much better and life was easier again..

The only problem i faced on the highway was that of the cross winds..they make the bike kind of unstable specially while overtaking or when big vehicles from the opp. lane cross you..(2 lane) but hell, you get used to it soon enough..

I was accompanied with an apache rtr180, which did pretty well too, although it had problems maintaining high speeds as the 15 could and the stock TVS tires kind of suck..

Overall i have started respecting my ride in a different way, the way it does it all is just super, totally worth the money spent.
Super reliable, super fun. It is a bit high on maintenance though..
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

                • @KARIZMATIC: ZMR may have better torque with pillion riding but in terms of top speed/ acceleration, a rider who knows to get the power out of R15 will wins hands down. When ZMR is maxxed out, R15 will have 1 gear left! Not to forget the handling.
I recently had a small race with a ZMR guy&I can vouch for this.

got a full servicing done from yfs today... the coneset was fine just that everythong needed to be greased..

Why to compare this two bikes?? Both are very different!!
If speed and Torque is the question then Duke will win over all at approx same price to R15.

R15 has it's own style, looks and features!!

R15 handling & Braking is way ahead than KarizmaR!
If you cousin wants high speed with excellent braking and handling then blindly R15.

If he wants relaxed riding position and touring with pillion at around100-110kmph ,No cornering or Zig Zac feeling!! then KarizmaR !!

                      • hey guys, facing a new issue somedays back i hitted a bad pot hole at speed of 90ish, nothing happened to th rim or tyre loss but after the incident whenever i do a hard braking the brakes give kinda jerk and the handle bar is not responding freely its like moving more on left side with a jerk.

I had replaced my cone set, bearing 6 mths ago only and even tyres are new, the brake pads are also good. Anything else to check?

Friend even i had faced this issue, but had to replace the Cone set completely!! Mostly while a bad slam on potholes cone set tends to get spoil or rims get effected. as you said that tyres/rims are ok so please check your Cone Set!!

                          • Tighten up

                            Hi Guys,

Anyone has yet tried up doing a foundation build on his r15, i mean tightening the bike up.
I'll like to know extra tools i'll require barring the one provided and major nuts and bolts to focus on.

Also, can anyone can provide review on using Motul 7100 as compared to 300v for the bike

                              • Hola bikers, posting here after pretty long time... recenty completed 30800+ kms on my ride in a month over 2 years. the bike is performing as usual at her best. recently took her for a long run where in i covered 437kms (belgaum to tumkur) in 4.5 hrs flat, stopping twice for fuel. top speed of 148kmph on a slightly downslope. What a machine from yamaha? its a true gem.
right now, front tyre needs to be replaced. i searched whole day in bangalore JC road but in vain. no stock is the answer i get to hear everywhere i go. 2200 INR is the price i'm quoted for the front tyre. Bloody hell... they are looting in broad daylight. asked in MRF showroom, price quoted was 1900 INR, but no stock. Any Bangaloreans can help me to find one soon? next weekend i'm going for a rain ride. need the tyre to be replaced before heading out. Please help..
                                Thanks in advance.
A crash on d road may kill d biker n d bike, but d relationship btwn d bike n d biker never dies.

Its only next to d relationship btwn d mother n her baby.
