Slime will not help. It will cause additional problems. A few friends who have used it have panned it. It seems to react with rim and has a acidic effect on it. It also make a big mess with some of it come out of the valve. My advice it don't run on the damage rim. It's dangerous.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostOnly a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

I dont think slime will work in case of bent wheel. It doesnt work if the puncture is on the side walls, works only for the main tread patch.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostHi friends,
Its been a long time since I posted. Hope you all are doing good and your bikes too.
I just wanted to know-does slime help in solving slow air leakage problem?
My bike's rear rim has been leaking air ever since the bend. Straightening twice hasn't helped much in solving the problem.sigpic

@ sarva - slim ehas 2 types of liquid for india one is green and other is white one, the white one is a xcellent one but its not sold that much as its costly around 2200/- for 250 ml but its 50 times better than green slime. On the contrary i would advice you instead of experimenting with your money on slime or something put bit more money and change the rims as that would be a wise option any given day.
@ abhi - frantic wanted to know bt HId so i recommended him which is best
@ revhard - fi is clean the issue is in city traffic this dance happens moment the speed cuts down below 40 kmph

i have a yamaha r15 v1. Has run around 30k kms and would want to put new tyres. Have been advised to put the same stock tyre i.e MRF Nylogrip Zapper. What is the cost of the front and rear tyre. Also, any other recommendations like Pirelli,CEAT etc and their cost. Please share ur information!

Ceat are not as good as stock if you love ripping and cornering, pirelli has a soft compound i think for rear one which stays good till 6k kms than its useless, stock ones are good last around 17000 kms. i just replaced mine where front was 2050 and rear was 2350.Originally posted by Aditya7 View Posti have a yamaha r15 v1. I could not find the stock MRFs so I went for the IRC NR 77 (front, 80/90 - 17 M/C 445) and Pirelli Sport Demon (rear, 100/80 - 17 M/CLT 52H).Originally posted by Aditya7 View Posti have a yamaha r15 v1. Note that the Sport Demon is actually a front tyre for the Aprilia RS4 125, and Yamaha YZF R125. No tyre manufacturer (other than MRF) makes a rear tyre in the 100/80 - 17 size.
So the big question is how well does this Sport Demon work as a rear tyre? Answer; very well indeed. There is no problem with stability, and the grip is as good as the MRF stock tyre. The ride is also very good.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Do you hear a tak tak noise coming from the RHS of the engine? If yes, then the plug cap is probably the culprit.Originally posted by shrinathrao View Posthey friends any idea which is the best projector setup for R15 V1, if not other my alternative way would be using 55 watt halogen bulbs without projectors.
One more new problem though my idle rpm is set at 1500 rpm. inspite of warming up good for 15 seconds when i ride her at times the bike engine shuts down in traffic, checked coolant, radiator fans all are doing fine. Could not understand whats the issue.
Need inputs on same.
@ FRANTIC - go for 4300 k with projector only as stock reflector wont do a good job for such costly HID.Phoenixflight.

it could be the thermostat or maybe there is a block in the cooling system leading to insufficient cooling...Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostNo bro but the radiator is running for a bit longer time, ity seems the the thermostat sensor is gone kaput.

how many kms have you done Abhimanyu? From what I know pirellis run out of tread very quickly, 5k-6k kms and they are done !Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostI could not find the stock MRFs so I went for the IRC NR 77 (front, 80/90 - 17 M/C 445) and Pirelli Sport Demon (rear, 100/80 - 17 M/CLT 52H).

Buy from genuine MRF dealer, it costs 1650 for front, 1800 for the rear. As for ceat tyres, neo_akshay had ceat vertigo, yes the button type one, and even he was satisfied with the performance, took some time heat up (less of grip otherwise)though.Originally posted by Aditya7 View Posti have a yamaha r15 v1. What kind of brake fluidfor my r15 in the states?
Want to make sure I don't put the wrong kind of brake fluid in my baby. This bike has allowed me too do so much. I get 200 miles 320 kilometers per tank of gas. My insurance was$ 200 for the whole year. Not to mention it runs great I really want to keep it that way. Another issue is I can't find an oil cleaner for that bike and it is ready for an oil change. Does anyone know if am oil cleaner from another yamaha bike fits? This forum has helped very much with this diamond in the ruff I call my r15 here in the states.thanks

any dot 3 or dot 4 brake fluid would be fine, use dot 4 as far as possible as the bike comes with dot 4 as stock. if dot 4 isnt available then bleed the brakes and fill in dot 3Originally posted by Freejohnsond View PostWant to make sure I don't put the wrong kind of brake fluid in my baby. I have just done 500 kms. Its been changed just couple of weeks back. There are 2 compounds available; super soft & soft. At least that's what I was shown & given to understand. So it may be that you are referring to the super soft compound. The other reason for the quick wear may very well be due to the fact that the tyre is actually a front tyre. It is not designed from ground up as a rear tyre which handles the drive, torque and power of the bike directly.Originally posted by abhi_underdog View Posthow many kms have you done Abhimanyu?
