One thing for sure mate....the handling which have made the r15 famous will be compromised severely if you put a 140 rear tire ...or even a 120 mm tire for matter of fact. I have experienced it with a 120mm tire and the bike handled as if there was no handling

+1 to that. The used R15 I bought, was fitted with 110mm tyre. The bike used to make some humming sound after driving for 4-5 kms. The service center guy said that may be its because of bigger tyre and discs. I had already planned to change it back to original at purchase and did it. After reverting to original the sound is gone, bike is more smooth and pickup is better. I was getting around 31 kmpl before reverting and now around 40kmpl (though I need to check it again with full tank). So overall I am loving it after changing the tyre back to original.
      Accelerating :)

Went to the showroom to bring the Insurance Papers and saw the Big Daddy a Black YZF R1 waiting to be delivered. this is the first time ever I got to see my dream Bike up close. couldn't stop drooling(you may laugh but whatever). tried to pull the clutch lever with the normal force used for my R15 but it didn't budge, had to pull with more than twice the force. was thinking how the superbike owners manage to shift gears with such a heavy clutch

If it is Yamalube SS, the problem is pretty common. Switch to a better oil next time.

Again what oil are you using, & how much has it run?
Did you go to the SVC with the issue? If no, go there & get it checked. Adjusting & oiling/greasing the gear lever solves the issue most of the times, as it did in my case.

Apart from that I was facing a bit of problem while shifting into 2nd gear from 1st, as the bike would get stuck in neutral. Also, downshifts had become a pain really. But all this vanished at first service when they changed the oil. How many km's have you clocked after you had the first service done?
the svc is PerfectRiders.it has clocked only 1487 KM,the first service was done @ 1050 KM and they used yamahalube SS mineral oil.
@parth i pull up the clutch fully and then shift the gears @ first i too thought same that i am not pulling the clutch full..but i was pulling it correctly still y the prob??

A** Holes... guys please tell me whats the problem with my bike
its just 45 days old bike and 1 free service also done still the gears are
hard especially when upshifting to 3rd gear and all downshifting gears
are hard...nowadays i dont even like to take out the bike
About hard gears, there can be 3 things, improper chain lubrication, the chain's adjusted too tight, or the engine oil is spent.

Now if you've recently serviced the bike, the oil can't get spent to fast. Check the chain. the freeplay should ideally be 35mm. If not, its because the chain's too tight. Loosen it one notch (and clean/lube if it isn't).

Also when the number of vehicles on road increases the issues being reported also would go up. its a sheer reason of ratio of vehicles being ridden going up.
No man. Please don't take it personally. No offense, but the newer ones have more defective pieces. Just look at how many speedo console and sensors have conked off for new bikes (which is exceedingly weird, because the renowned speedo manufacturer 'Pricol' has been making speedos from day 1). So I think quality has taken a hit. Needs improvement.

Uhh, maybe its not the fork noise you're hearing, but its fuel sloshing in the tank because of the sudden compression & rebound of the forks. A friend also thought his forks had a problem, and after careful listening, it was indeed the fuel. Check.

                    • Another proud owner of R15

I bought my 2nd bike today, the YZF-R15 in midnight black. All these while i had heard what a gem of a bike the R15 is but today after having bought the bike and riding it for 70km i did realize the weight in the sentence.

My first bike was an RTR180. I really loved the bike except for the vibrations it used to produce. So i sold it off. Having ridden the RTR, i was more oriented towards revvy engines with good handling and sporty riding position. So the R15 and the P220 were the only bikes that i was considering. The P220 was great VFM but then again i just looked at the technology that powers the R15. Liquid cooling, 4 valves, fuel injection, monocross suspension, deltabox chassis, the list goes on. Combine this with the fact that its the same team behind this mini sports bike that designed the R1, my dream bike. So after giving lots of thoughts to it i finally decided to go for the R15 even though its 70cc less than the P220 and 30cc less than my earlier RTR180. And i have to say i made a wise decision. I have ridden P220, RTR180, ZMA. The R15 may have the smallest engine among the 4 but it feels so different than any of the other bikes (with no disrespect to the other bikes) and let me not repeat the other well known traits of the bike.

Thanks a lot to svjhonda who went with me to the showroom for the delivery. He helped me a lot in the PDI and other stuff. As of now im running in the engine carefully according to the manual. Looking forward to be an active member in this thread as i was in the RTR180 thread.

Thanks. A question. The svc mechanic asked me to get the battery charged for full 8hrs. He said that it would ensure better performance and longibility of the battery. Do i need to do that? Isnt the battery charged fully by the company?

                            • Just run your bike normally. As is for the first few days new bikes generally are ridden a lot for the fun of riding them and getting over with the running in period asap. So no worries with the battery.

So be it. The headlights arent good for night riding. Have to adjust the left side low beam. Its pointing upwards. Any suggestions for better lighting?
