    Please do clarify my doubt.

Congrats on the decision! I think you can pay around 75K for a 2009 model. Now our friend's bike, even though '08 December, is a 2008 model, so you must start bargaining from 75.
Call me on 09246202440 if you have any doubts. I will be glad to help.

Atleast thats what I think :P
Speed is similar to Extra Premium, which is 91 octane.
I filled it in yesterday on my way to Bangalore.

@All: The bike performed flawlessly, but guzzled a lot of fuel since I was constantly averaging 115-120kmph!

@Bangy owners: I am at Old Airport Road till 7th. I would like to get my bike washed&chain lubed before I leave. Which is the SVC closest to my place?

@tibby: Please call me on the above no.! Wanna talk to you!

The octane number signifies the amount of iso-octane present in the fuel, which in turn makes it more combustible. Superbikes need 97, since they operate at higher ratios of 11.4:1... they can handle the Energy output, besides, they are designed to extract every ounce of the power their engine can possibly make.

If you put 97 Octane in your R15, it ''might' have adverse results on the engine. More combustion than what the cylinders can handle, possibly? Anyway, it has to be tried and proved to be sure :P
Higher Octane Rating does not mean more combustion or more power..
It indicates more resistance to Knocking/Pinging compared to regular fuels ..

I had sent a query to Yamaha and this is the reply that I got..

            Dear Mr.Nirav,

Thank you very much for writing to us. We have noted the query and would like to reply as under.

<> What we have mentioned in the owner manual is the minimum requirement.
<> You can use the fuel with 95 octane in R15 on regular basis.
<> 97 octane is not available at all fuel stations and we found it very difficult to get the same in Mumbai also

            With Thanks And Regards,
            E.P.Sreekumar.
IMHO, Speed 93 would have been perfect, however it has been discontinued ..

Yamaha guy says you can use 95 RON on a regular basis .. But where the hell am I going to get it ?!

Using Reegular unleaded petrol till the time I come up with a solution ..

No offences mate, but the technique of riding could be the difference between performance..
the other guy could be doing something right essecially gearing..just watch out for that..and sure you will beat him..

Yea ppl here told me the same, but wen i spoke with with the shop guy he said 3bhp is increased and no harm. Infact he has fitted it to 30+ R`5 in chennai and even i saw a demo on R15. It was good indeed so i went with it>...

                        • Does anyone has info about the cost of the Limited edition white red R15's fairings? I got to know from a friend that they are costlier than the other normal colours hence asking.

                          I need:

                          Outer fairing (with r15 decal) :L & R both
inner fairing (with mesh) :L & R both
                          Headlight fairing/cowl
Tail panel (the plastics where the pillion's thighs would be....is this clear or shall i upload a pic for the same) :L side
                          Exhaust cover
                          Exhaust cap

Also I need to replace my foot brake lever, cost please?

I have some scratches on my clutch and front brake levers and I was thinking about replacing them too. Cost? Also, do the RTR180 levers fit the R15? coz they looks nicer

How much labour will the svc charge for all this?

I'm doing all this as after 4 crashes (equally divided on both sides), my fairings are badly scratched. I had touched up the left side fairings but after I opened them up due to some vibrations, I found out that the inner brackets that hold the fairings together are broken. So the only 100% way to get everything back to perfect levels is to replace the whole thing.

I also have some doubts about insurance claims. As far as I know, I get 50% for the plastics. My questions are:
                          1. Do I get the claim for just 1 side?
                          2. What and how much are documentation charges?
                          3. Will my insurance cover labour charges to put the plastics on?
                          4. How much time can I expect my bike to be stranded at the svc for the claim purposes? (I have pretty good relations with the svc manager + showroom owner and also the mechanics)
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

In my case I wasn't charged anything for documentation.
You'll have to give them xerox copies of valid driving license, registration card of your bike, insurance policy along with the originals for verification. The Insurance guys will ask you a few questions like time, place n date of crash, how the crash happened etc.

                            3. Will my insurance cover labour charges to put the plastics on?
                            Yes!

You can take your bike back from SVC after the insurance guys have re-inspected your bike. Just give them a call after your bike has been repaired to come over and re-inspect the bike.

3bhp from just an air filter, without even tuning the FI? :O That shopkeeper must be super-humane! These shopkeepers will say anything and everything to sell their products, it's up to us to make out the facts from the myths. K&N will increase the power only marginally, that too if any. We're still unsure whether an untuned engine gives any gains with K&N. But even if it does, it's only marginal.
