Re: tinted visors
I use rx100 center stand and a pin. Dont remember the price but you cant get it at yamaha spare shops for around 300-400. It acts as temporary center stand just put up stand and pass the pin between those two holes just at the bottom of bike where swingarm starts, near bottom of monoshock and lift her up as scooter.Originally posted by Temping Aion View Post

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15

Bought this Mobil1 engine oil from surajpur (Gr. Noida) @ 1000 ₹ per liter.
Its 0w40 grade. I think it's compatible with R15 .
That dealer have all motul 5100, 7100, 300V also.
Offering 300v @ 870 rs per liter
But he recommends mobil1 as its best in lube oil world
Dealer says it can last upto 15000 kms.
Pour it last week, after oil change the engine response got better, smooth gear shift. Very very low vibs at high rpm.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Was facing the clutch bell thud thud noise issue .
Ask svc they recommend only change clutch bell solve the issue & disappear noise.it cost around 1.3k.
I performed a DIY at home to change clutch bell rubbers.
This part is making noise as it have little check/ gap between steel gear & aluminum bell.

So disassembled it , open rivet , there are some rubber as seen in pics below

Tried to find same rubber in marketbut not found anywhere , then a mech show super splendor 's clutch rubber which will fit in r15 bell . Fitted the super splendor rubber and the thud thud sound gone completely

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
That seems to be a car specific engine oil. There is a lot of debate of if car specific engine oils can be used in motorcycles with wet clutches because it can cause clutch slippage.Originally posted by vjxm View PostBought this Mobil1 engine oil from surajpur (Gr. Noida) @ 1000 ₹ per liter.

Some have successfully used such oils in motorcycles with wet clutches while others say otherwise.
Motorcycles with wet clutches = clutch is lubricated/immersed by the engine oil --hence the oil chemistry is different to allow the clutch plates to function with appropriate levels of friction.
Cars = clutch is separate and not lubed by the engine oil - hence the oil chemistry is different and they have something called 'friction modifiers'..i.e. making the oil more slippery since its used only in the engine where more slippery = better
Motorcycle Oils vs. Automotive Oils
Using (cheaper) car oil in motorcycle engine? - PistonHeads
I leave it up to you to make the choice.. i personally would stick to motorcycle specific oils since that is what is recommended and anyway they cost almost the same as the oils for petrol cars (like the mobil 1 that you have used)
My use:
KTM Duke 200 - motul 7100
honda Dio - Castrol JASO MB grade engine oil (MB is to be used in only gearless scooters that do not have a wet clutch. The bottle clearly states it shouldn't be used in geared motorcycles.. reason
ossibility of clutch slip) -- you can of course use the regular motorcycle oil (JASO MA/MA2 grades) in these scooters (few years ago MB grade wasn't available and it ran just as fine with the MA/MA2 grades)

Re: Long term storage
Sarvajit,
Thanks for your response, but unfortunately I do not have the user manual with me. I bought this machine second had a few months back the previous owner did not supply me with the manual. I know I need to remove fuel and battery from the motorcycle, please let me know if I need to take care of anything else.

Guys I own a R15 v1 2009 with the Japanese engine I have been facing a strange issue with its meter console. It was working very much fine until today everything used to work meter used it flashes check engine light showing error code 46 fuel injection system not receiving complete/required charge . My bike isnt ridden much as I am away for college I just got the bike recently and even the previous guy dint rode it the bike has clocked 10K kms in all these years . the battery in the bikes has been replaced around 3 months back also around 1 month back the bike had same issue the meter just stopped working all of a sudden and even the rpm needle gets stuck mid way even today while I was riding it got stuck midway and whole meter console isnt working every other electrical on the bike (horn, lights ,injector) works perfectly . I even tried to join the +ve terminal from my car through a wire it doesnt helps I even tried cleaning battery terminal still it wont start . Guys please do let me know if I can do anything to get it back working.

First of all it is not a Japanese engine the initial model engines were made in Indonesia the last Japanese Yamaha being the initial Rx100Originally posted by praneel511 View PostGuys I own a R15 v1 2009 with the Japanese engine I have been facing a strange issue with its meter console. 2nd thing the code 46 implies the injector is not getting signals from the ecu but you said the display goes down and won't come up even you connect it with another battery so my suggestion is check for the wire that goes from the ignition lock set and ends in a black rubber pouch located in the right side of the chassis near the t stem it happens that the connector becomes loose and may disconnect leading to black outs

Re: Urgent help required R15 V1 meter help
but it was made by a japanese engineering firm with presumably their own designs, ideas and facilities, even if the factory itself was in indonesia...that makes it a japanese engine...Originally posted by black asp View PostFirst of all it is not a Japanese engine the initial model engines were made in Indonesia the last Japanese Yamaha being the initial Rx100
european yamaha bikes/engines for example are also manufactured not necessarily in japan but factories located elsewhere..but the objects made by yamaha in those plants are still yamaha's and thus japanese because the main engineering facilities/procedures and responsibilities belong to the parent company (yamaha in this case)..or so one would think.
same for other manufacturers.
same for other manufacturers.

In that context later r15 are also Japanese then why specifically state Japanese engine r15??Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postbut it was made by a japanese engineering firm with presumably their own designs, ideas and facilities, even if the factory itself was in indonesia...that makes it a japanese engine...

Lol don't be a fanboy try to understand what iam saying I said specifically that there was no Japanese made engine in r15 where as initial model rx100 and rd350 ht were made in Japan in the r15 the engine was assembled in Indonesia so if you say Japanese in my context then it is not a Japanese and if you say Japanese in your context then all r15 are Japanese so why state separately that you have a Japanese engine r15??
And by the way thanks for the enlightenment which was absolutely not needed

well that's quite an unnecessarily and instantly rough way to reply to a simple post that just disagreed with you once.Originally posted by black asp View PostIn that context later r15 are also Japanese then why specifically state Japanese engine r15??

firstly, there's no japanese in my context, japanese in your context, japanese in someone else's context :-)...japanese or non-japanese depends on who made it, who owns the rights to make it, whose designs it were etc, not where it was made or assembled by them...that's pretty much the only definition, because by your definition pretty much no yamaha bikes and their engines in the world are and were japanese because most of them are and were usually manufactured in various manufacturing plants of yamaha located in various countries...same for all other manufacturers of all things....pointing this out doesnt make me a fanboy, but whatever :-)
secondly, i didnt call it out explicitly a japanese engine r15 in the beginning, someone else did to which you replied it wasn't, and then i had to explicitly continue to use that redundant adjective to keep track of and argue against your definition/context..Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 02-12-2015, 05:58 AM.
