I have the same issue. Though there is a provision for the centre stand, the rubber is not model specific.
Your mechanic might have put in the rubber from some other bike.
If you can get a bigger sized rubber, it should reduce the noise.
In my case, it hasn't reduced even after 6yrs. And I got used to it!

There should be coolent mixed with oil if head gasket is blown right?They checked oil,and no amount of coolant was there. The bike starts immediatly when i change the sparkplug. After starting it, if i replace the previous sparkplug, the bike will start without any problem

A month back, there was a leak in the petrol tank and water enterd the tank. This issue was solved and petrol was also changed. Is the starting trouble related to this water leak? should i clean the tank again?

Best advice?
First I would say clean the tank thoroughly, remove pump, drain tank, filter and collect petrol. Clean the filter on the fuel pump and remove any residue you can see, don't disassemble if you are not confident. Reassemble everything back and see what happens.

If this doesn't solve the problem, first thing I need you to check is inlet tappet.
First intake tappet symptom is hard cold starts. Once started first even for just a 5-10 seconds, it would start fine from the next. This will miss lead you that it might not be a valve problem, but it very well might be.

The tight inlet explain most of your problems, you put in new plug and it starts then, put in old one and it starts + the long cranking.
Go to SVC, get the compression test done. If it is recieving good fuel, cylinder leaking is the only thing that explains your trouble.
+ what makes me so doubtful of tappet, is that SVC guys never ever check that thing.

sounds like a coolant leak (blown head gasket) I would advise to check it asap, if not addressed soon, it will end up costing more, such as a warped head and rusted piston rings etc. best to be safe than sorry.

I m going to buy Nov.2011 model Black R15 v1 with exchange to my honda dazzler 2010 + 30000 rs.so want to know some information.
what parts of v1 is available easily in market.
I think v1 & v2 mostly spare parts are common( like handle ball racer, disk + pad, chain set, and almost engine parts . Is it ?

Adjusted tappet, Changed Head gasket...(paint was removed near the inner circle of gasket..think that was what causing the coolant leak

).Till now no trouble in starting

Today i buy an used R15. its 2011 Model.Black Color.Odo Reading was 23400 Kms.
Having some minor scratches & dents on fuel tank .When I try to start the bike, starter behave as it jammed . But 2nd starter click Start the Bike.A thhd thud like Sound Was Coming from right side of engine near clutch . clutch Lever has very less space to press (max One inch) & feel hard to press .when i press clutch , the sound almost gone . But very little sound was coming from engine at idle . when I throttle it , the sound gone . is it normal to R15 engine .how much clutch plate cost?

moving In 1st gear a whistle sound was coming for 5-6 seconds .what was that sound .
Rear wheel having numbers ot screw driver marks during punctures as its have tube tyre .what is the Cost of rear wheel.

disk Pad was new But Disk wear unevenly. what could be reason .

Right side Cowl was break near the RHS light at corner . have to change full cowl ? what will be the cost of that.as shown in image below.

fuel meter show always full tank Indication & blink Continuously .no neutral light was lit up. when turn ignition key on there should be a diagnostic run, all indication should light lit up .but there is nothing. No indication led lit up during ignition key on.whats the problem with it, is it can be repaired or console to be replaced.
@ What cost?

main doubt was engine sound (thinking about piston kit) will very costly.

Hi VJXM,

Just two months back i bought a similar midnight black Yamaha R15 V1 for 55,000. the bike had no problems at all except few minor scratches and a dirty chain. considering the number of issues you have listed above do you think it is advisable to buy this particular bike?

Main reason to buy this particular bike is exchange with my old honda dazzler + 28000 rs.
I have 2 days of trial period for this r15 to check and run.
Mileage is good even in city 47+

If you're not done with 2 Days, I'd suggest you to return this bike and get your Dazzler back.

You can get the estimated cost on indiaspare.in. Just select appropriate category for price. Trust me with all those defects in your bike, its not worth it.

Now on to your queries,

If the problem is with clutch bell it will cost your around 1600 - 1800 and Clutch plate and pressure plate will cost you approx 1500 (max).
If something wrong with starter Cell, get it checked with local mechanic, if he can replace the carbon (labour and parts 500rs max)

If the Disc is uneven, get it replaced for effective braking. BTW...original R15 disc pad cost is 1350Rs (one set) and OEM 280rs for two set.

If meter consol is the problem, nothing much to worry. But if fuel guage is the problem, your wallet size is gonna reduce. Coz fuel guage is attached with fuel pump (approx cost 7500 - 10,000). Get electrical check done.

Still I'd suggest to return this bike. BTW..Have you brought it from a local Bike dealer?

If you wanna ride R15 forget mileage and just go with performance. Mine gives 40 in city and 53 on highways.

Can you post the pic of your bike with stand. The noise you're referring to may be of Stand touching the silencer. Check any pulsar bike, you'll come to know the mechanism of attaching rubber to silencer bottom.

If you want go for DIY....remove all the plastic of radiator side (just one side). You can try this in morning as bike is cool. Open radiator cap and check if coolant full. If not gasket is the culprit. If coolant is full, start your bike will 2 or 3X RPM. You will observe the water flowing. If you don't feel that water is circulating, check your bike's water pump with mechanic.

23k on the odo is nothing for R15, it should feel brand new.. See the issues, its probably ill treated.. I wouldn't buy it if I were you..

My point exactly, the condition of the bike suggests it has been not maintained well and definitely does not deserve the cost of your old bike +28k considering the other expenses you need to put in to get it to ship shape.

I returned the bike &get back my dazzler. i bought that bike owner not the dealer.
I think that bike guy will call me again to buy.then what price should i quote for exchange.
I m from haryana .live in suburban area.as there is very less resale value of high value bikes like r15 & dazzler also.

But i m keen to r15 as it the ultimate bike in india till now.

I'd not suggest to buy that bike. Instead, checkout another R15. I'm sure you'll get one.

Points to be noted before buying such bike.

Check all electricals are in working condition. Coz even smallest defect (you may think) can decrease size of your wallet. You never know

Don't rely on ODO. They can be tempered easily in digital world.
Take a test ride and check if everything is in working condition. If you notice any unexpected sound, get it checked with mechanic.
Getting parts of R15 is easy but way to costly. So if you get the one you desire make sure you keep at least 5-7K for additional expenses.

This is my personal opinion on R15.
