Get a new downpipe made, I had my whole system made by Ashu Engineering in Pune, you can google them or try to find someone in your area to do the work.

Is it fine to alter the stock air intake system on the bike? I was recently advised by a friend to cut the filter cap and continue with the stock filter. Is it ok to do so? I got a leo vince exhaust and according to my friemd its mandatory to increase the air intake to get the best out of the system.

Calling to all experts and gurus for help.

Bike is of June 210 model V1.0

The battery was down for past few months as riding was very less. Had to push start everytime I take her out.
I decided to ride more to keep the juice flowing to charge the battery but no improvement.
Yesterday went to market and the engine was constantly losing compression. After push starting she would go for a few meters and lose compression, misfire, tacho will dive to zero, riding the clutch wouldn't help either. So gave up and pushed her for a km to a local garage where the mechanic took out the battery and fitted a new one after which she started easily. Happy with the new Amaron 4Ah (the previous one was Exide 5Ah) battery, headed Home. But I think the prob is still not solved as on the way(about 3km from the garage) she lost compression and misfired a few times(though she started easily with the start button).
I am not able to pinpoint the prob with my very limited knowledge. Also there is some tappet noise, Odo reads ~22.5k kms. Spark plug was changed at about 15k kms to NGK Iridium plug. Other then led pilot and tail lamps, the Bike is in stock condition.
Please help me to solve the prob.

          Thanks

^^^ Check if the plug is properly torqued. Also check if the crush washer on the plug is in good condition. If it was tightened too much the crush washer may be damaged. The other thing to check is the spark plug cap, if it is old replace it.

There is nothing wrong with your old battery or the new one.

The rectifier of the bike is not working , change it everything will be fine. its the rectifier which charges battery when the vehicle is running. last time i have changed it costed 1.2k , don;t know the price now.

Thanks brothers, I will tell the mech to check the spark plug, crush washer, plug cap and the rectifier. Hope this sorts out the prob.

                  • Hi, I recently purchased a second hand R15 V1 (picked it from a friend who is moving out of the country), I have moved to R15 from my RTR160. The R15 is a May 2011 model and was ridden only 25800 km since purchased, the engine is very smooth and there are no other problems that i have noticed. Is there anything that i need to keep my eyes on. All advices are welcome. Also can someone share the bike's user manual.
Thanks in advance for your advice & the user manual.

congrats on your purchase. I had it for 5 years without any issues, just get it serviced every 3000 km, keep the coolant topped up, and just ride on.
chain can be an issue if not properly cleaned and lubed, other than that its all good.
as for the user manual, i only have one in spanish, pm me ur email and i'll send it.

                      enjoy ur ride

                      • Yamaha R15 V2 Issues and fitting Free Flow Exhaust system.

                        Query Approved/Merged

Hi Everyone This is Ramsankar from Chennai.. i own a Yamaha R15 V2.0 2014 model. i'm planning to fit Leovince GP Corsa exhaust system to it. And i've some doubts about it .

                        1. Do i need to go for After-market filter like K&N or BMC for better breathing.
                        2. I find a sensor like thing on the exhaust system near Engine head . is it O2 sensor or exhaust temp. sensor.
                        3. Will fitting a FFE affect engine on long run.
                        4. I'm currently using YAMALUBE semi synth. 15W50. can i switch to Full synthetic from shell Lubricants.

                        5. And my bike is riding little rough since i feel mild fibration and sticky gear shift especially in 1st three gears.what could be the reason.

Then I've done 3.5k kms on the odo and last service done was at 3.1k kms. and i didnt use the bike for about a month after that last service. Do i need to change Engine oil irrespective of condition ( cause i'm getting different opinion from my service advisor and shell petrol pump executive. My Yamaha authorised S.A told oil is fine no need to worry about it but the Shell petrol pump guy told my bike oil looses its viscosity so should change it)

I understand this is a lengthy post. But I could get and solid suggestion so please throw light on my problems and doubts.

                        Thanks in Advance..

Hi all, facing a small issue on my bike. It is making a khat, khat noise once the speed crosses 50 kph. The noise is coming from somewhere down and slightly behind. I have been riding the bike in rain and on slightly muddy roads.

Does any one have idea what the issue here is and how to fix it?

                          Please help.

If it is happening on plain roads, check whether the chain is too loose and tighten.
If it is hapening on speed breakers, it sounds like muck has accumulated in the between the swingarm/link suspension.
Get the swingarm cleaned and greased. It will solve the problem for next 2-3yrs.

The problem was a loose and dirty chain. Got it tightened, cleaned and lubed, this resolved my issue. By the way can someone let me know where I can get led indicators in hyderabad and their approximate cost.
