Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Hello guys my bike's performance issue is fixed after all day assessment with my mechanic "Sanjiv Kumar" from Jalandhar, Punjab.Yes, also worth cleaning your throttle body as a precaution, may even be the culprit.
The main culprit was the clutch plates, Sanjiv tried twice to tighten the clutch plates as it was half worn out (as you can see the older disk in my hand) it didn't gave us the appropriate results; my bike was running at same speeds but at higher revs in both trails for example 80-85 Km/h at 6K RPMs and a top speed of 115-118 Km/h with stock tyres
; We decided to replace the clutch plates with newer ones so I bought a new set of 5 clutch plates from Gupta Motors Jalandhar and get it replaced from Sanjiv. After replacing the set bike regained its normal performance i.e. 90-92 KM/h at 6K RPMs and achieved top speed of 132 Km/h even with the Ceat Vertigo Sport 100/90 17 which is also 600g heavier than the stock tyre.
Hope it will do 138 Km/h with the MRF tyre like it always do.
As Sarvajit suggested me to use Ceat Vertigo Sport 100/80 17 for offroad rides, I asked all the near by Ceat dealership about the same tyre but unfortunately nobody had the same size tyre. But I got the Vertigo Sport 100/90 17 from a normal tyre shop and get it fixed from the same shop.Ceat Vertigo in stock size 100/80x17 should work fine for offroading. Some members have used it for hills, but switched back to stock MRF after coming to plains.
After equipping that tyre in my bike I felt tyre is not bad, it had a very good grip on the road even it looks better than the MRF's. The only thing I felt that lacks in bike after equipping that tyre is flick ability of the bike, it is quiet decreased. So when ever I get from my trip I'll change it back to the stock one. But for those who are looking for an alternative tyre Ceat is the best option available for streets and roads.
[QUOTE][ Do get the injectors cleaned by telling your SVC for some add-on injector cleaners. Also get the air filter changed and check if your idling has changed as well. Also I would suggest when the tank is coming to empty sign, then fill 5 lts of octane97 and ride the bike normally as you do. and once in reserve again then go ahead and tank up with extra premium. And then check what change do you observe. I hope the chain set is doing alright and the tyre pressure are also as per instructed. 28psi front & 33psi rear.
/QUOTE]
And fuel injector problem was fixed by just adding the ABRO Injector Cleaner (for Petrol Engine) in the fuel. Sanjiv and local YSVC didn't recommend to get the injector cleaned from any local place as the injector is properly sealed and can't be opened for cleaning.Ādhrith

Not true at all, how these clowns fool you? The injector is a doddle to remove and refit i had done mine back in May along with cleaning the throttle body, this is essential maintanence , also in the service manual.

I'll definitely visit the Chandigarh dealership, they might have the injector cleaning machine or they know from where it gets cleaned. And throttle body was cleaned in this service.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Guys My R15 is getting into trouble frequently. I had changed the Cone set twice and yet again it has been damaged. Wanted to know if there is any other good bearing brand like SKF that has cone set for R15 ?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
It will settle down soon, just keep greasing it&tightening when needed.
I got mine changed twice in a row&now after tightening/greasing twice, it seems to be set properly.
I'm not sure about after market cone sets but I suggest don't use any after market parts for this bike, to avoid more expenses/trouble in the long run.
I've seen a bike recently whose disc plate needed to be replaced immediately after installing after market disc pads.

Thanks man. I just asked a mechanic he said he'll inspect it tomorrow morning and will verify if it needs a replacement or just some greasing.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIt will settle down soon, just keep greasing it&tightening when needed.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Cone set do needs adjustment after getting a new one set. So just ride the bike and get it tightened when you feel it loose after sometime. and after sometime it will settle down.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Guys I have to change rear tyre for my R15 v1. It has got a side cut. Checked at multiple places/service centers in Bangalore but could not get stock tyre. Also I dont like like grip of stock tyre on wet and lose roads. So I am planning to put a different tyre.
Criteria:
- Better performance on wet road
- Better performance on bad road
- Should not affect swingarm or any other part.
Can you please suggest me a suitable tyre? Mileage and top speed is not a concern. Little bit of acceleration drop is OK.
Also I want to change my tail to one similar to v2 or pulsar 135. Service center would not do such modification. Can somebody give me an idea where this modification can be done without costing a bomb? I dont want to spend much.Accelerating :)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
you can try Michelin Sirac street 100/90 17, will cost around 1900 buck, its a tube type. and good all around performance. i have to say though the stock v1 mrf 100/80 17 zapper s was excellent, superb cornering and grip for its size, wet road didnt pose much problem either, but bad roads did throw them off. so Sirac could be a better option if you are looking to do more offroading or for daily use Michelin 100/90-17 Pilot sporty.
there were some issues with the early bunch, but seems to be doing better now.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Wowwww!!! exactly what I was looking for!! I want to replace the mudguard with the slim something like you did. I dont have the mudguard anyways, it was broken. I was want to put tyre cover similar to v1.Originally posted by stefanm View PostWhen you say tail, do you mean like a fender eliminator or are you talking the split seat from the V2?
Pictured is my diy tail tidy, cost me less than 500 bucks, though it still needs fibre glassing when I get the time/inclination.
I did not like handling of stock tyres on wet road and roads having some sand. So want to change to something else. Have been reading that 120/80 17 MRF Zapper vyde is good fit and also solves these problems. Else might try 100/90 R17 Zapper C. Is Michelin Pilot sporty better? Would like a little wider tyre.Originally posted by mehuel View Postyou can try Michelin Sirac street 100/90 17, will cost around 1900 buck, its a tube type. and good all around performance. i have to say though the stock v1 mrf 100/80 17 zapper s was excellent, superb cornering and grip for its size, wet road didnt pose much problem either, but bad roads did throw them off. so Sirac could be a better option if you are looking to do more offroading or for daily use Michelin 100/90-17 Pilot sporty.

Will 120/80 R17 fit properly without creating any problem? Which is better choice from above 3?Accelerating :)
