Cool. Thanks mate, very informative. I'll have a go with the heat method and the welding a bolt bit. Purchasing an extractor for this is probably not worth; would rather change the calliper. Anyway, thanks again.

If by any means you cannot extract the bleed screw(i hope this will not happen and you will succeed) you can look out for second hand brake caliper from any nearby junkyard, or sometimes you can get this part second hand from Asc also, by this way you will able to save money.

Has anyone tried swapping the the brake lines of duke200 to your R15 ? They cost only 400 for a pair.

Last week, I accidentally broke the bleed screw off the front brake calliper (R15.v1). As the incident occurred while bleeding the brakes, the brake fluid had been continually draining out.

After quite a search for spares, I finally got my hands on the bleed screw kit; cost about INR 88. Yamaha refused working on the calliper, and my local mechanic tried removing the jammed (bit of the) bleed screw out, but to no success. My only option right now would be to replace the calliper assembly as a whole, but costs around INR 4000 including taxes; which is a bit expensive.

Was wondering if any members could input on how I could get the bit off the calliper. Would save me a lot of money!

          Thanks.

          • Synthetic oil for yamaha R15

            Hi,

i have Yamaha R15 version one which has done 19000 Kms.
Still now I m using Yamaha lube semi synthetic oil.
But I am considering to change to fully synthetic oil
Motul 300V FL 15W-50 fully synthetic or Shell advance.
I want to know about the impacts to my bike if I change to fully synthetic and which oil to choose.

Its one of the best oils for R15 and especially for those who ride hard and this is what is told by most of the members here.
You can go through few olders posts where matters relating to oils are discussed.
And about the changes you can find are, smoothness is something you can find easily and I feel the vibrations too are reduced at higher rpm's.

                  Hi,

I own Yamaha R15 2011 model which has done 19000 Kms.
I am facing a problem now.
Sometimes my bike engine switches off once I start it and sometimes while riding when I press the clutch and release the throttle the engine goes off.
There is no problem with the FI system as I changed my fuel pump one month back and got my injector cleaned from Yamaha Service station.
This problem is there with both hot and cold engines.
Otherwise my bike is fine and the pickup is also good.
Theres no error message or warning light when I turn on the ignition key.

                      Hi sharan,
You can check the idle solenoid...when you Start your bike the rpm goes down once your start it.. I guess the idling was set when the engine was cold. I suggest you adjust your idling when Engine is hot and check if problem is resolved..

How old is the vehicle? And what's the idle RPM set to? Changed the spark plug anytime?

1st Check your spark plug cap for the correct resistance
                          2) Check spark plug
                          3) Check your idle is correct and throttle cable has the correct play, I think it's 1mm
If it's still not sorted, I would suggest remove the throttle body and give it a good clean, remove the fast idle solenoid clean that and treat it to a little engine oil, if you've done that you may as well send your injector for cleaning on a specialised machine, just to be on the safe side. I had done this last week as mine was idling at 3k rpm, solved the problem.

There have been number of bikes switching off due the engine kill switch conectors/wires touching the steel handle internally causing the bike to shut down.
