I am running on my third set of stock tires which are the best...recently changed my rear wheel because it got bent as i was riding it with low pressure n hit a speedbreaker but the guy who fixed the fresh tire on the new rim didnt do it properly or what i dont know so every 2 days i have hardly 13 to 14ps in my rear tyre , there is no puncture but then how to fix the air leak any solutions?
anybody crazy about touring ? anyone wishoing to mount phones on the bike for navigation purposes i found a pretty cheap phone mount looks decent i m getting it in a few days just make sure that you have an elastic band around it though for extra safety....and also found some replacement tail lights for our ride i mean a proper led setup getting these both in a week will let u all know how they are

        1) how much is engine life of a properly maintained and regularly serviced R15?
2)also i have heard that r15,s engine loses compression after 20k km, is that true?
3)how much max KM have you guys covered on your R15 without any major or minor overhaul?

if my "2)" doubt is true, will it be wise to sell my R15 after 20k KM;s and go for new one? mine is 20p model 15000km clocked on ODO.
Dude u ve got the r15 totally wrong i am using a 09 20p2 going good i can say better by the day at 50k+ kms all u have to take care is proper oil and coolant also clutch replacement and regular filter cleaning and changing after about 20k do get the throttle body and injector cleaned and the baby r1 will never let u down

            - how's your experience been?
            - have you ever lost traction?
            - when pushed near the limit, does the r15 front tire (stock) wash-out suddenly or will it give a warning?

i have been practicing cornering on a selection of corners for the last couple of months and have made good progress so far.
on a particular set of 48-52 kmph right-handers i recently tried trail braking and was amazed with the results. i could turn-in quicker, it was smoother and most significantly it was faster by 2-3kmph straightaway! (this when 1kmph improvements have been slow to come).
without trail braking the front feels kinda light & vague at corner entry, but now it feel just right.
only the release of the front brake to on-throttle transition felt awkward but by overlapping those that has got sorted too.

a slightly sliding rear is manageable but i am concerned about the front tire traction.
also, do you think quick flicking is ok with trail braking?

(please note this not a discussion about whether or not we should trail brake.)
Depends on a lot of factors. But i dont think you will loose your front unless you have a very hot entry or you panick. The front never feels vague in an R15 unless you are shutting of your throttle when getting in to a corner. My best and safe advise would be brake early and exist fast ( for the roads ). Another basic technique to be mastered before trail braking is to learn how to use engine braking and remember, never shut your throttle in a corner. The bike will hold the line better with throttle and washes all over the place when you shut throttle. what Psi you run ?

I'll never dare to place my phone in that. It looks so unsafe a small pothole and the phone will fly I think

                Thanks for replying.
yup, for most corners i do enter the corner with off-throttle to make use of the engine braking but trail braking justs feels a lot more cleaner during entry and i find it easier to get the entry speed right.
i came across couple of post on this site by a guy with the alias 'killer' (Sameer Venugopalan), after reading those and like you said, i think there is a lot more margin for error, i am only trail braking lightly and i am only practising it on a select few corners. i think the main benefit i am getting from it is that the turn in is quicker(or atleast i feel more confident to flick it faster) and it makes the corner entry smoother.

                > what Psi you run?

that's another thing i wanted to know. the recommended tire pressure is 28/33 but after trying out a few combination i feel best with 2-3 psi difference b/w front and rear. 29/31 felt real good to me.
what tire pressures do you ride on?
is it ok to run lower pressures?

Killer was the exact guy with whom i got it touch to clear off my doubts when i was hitting track :-)

Try 23 front and 27 rear. This is more oriented towards track.

                    • Hi all,

One of my friend who owns P220 told me that his bike got serviced at castrol bike zone and he claims it as the best service centre.
Since his P220 was carb, It would have been good.
Has anyone here serviced R15 at castrol bike zone? If yes please shred some points abt their service.
Do they handle our FI babes with care?

                      Fed up with ASC:-(

i have never seen this product in any bike being used! dont know how much boost will it have on performance , again it is a Chinese product and it will do every thing to ruin your machine ,so my advice is to stay away from it. else if you have money to do experiment then go on , who knows you might also get some positive results !
