  • Hey Guys , Just got the my bike back from service , The SVC mech revved the bike to the max at neutral and there was a few traces of smoke and he says the engine is busted . It has 46000kms on the ODO , It has a race-concepts big bore which is about 26000kms old . I had put in Motul 300v Factory line 15W50 at 43000kms . The Engine has started sounding a bit harsh over the past couple of days ...
Could it be the engine oil at fault because I had an almost WOT ride of about 600kms on Jan 1st . Or do i really go with the assumption that the engine is indeed busted , Can anyone help me with the diagnosis .
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

      • Hi all,

I have just completed the first service of my R15.
Got it serviced in Raj Yamaha near thoraipaakam chennai with a bad experiance.

I had told them to fix the front doom vibartions but this was never done,
and there is noise from the front suspension when it moves up fast,
when you ride over a big speed braker with some speed, not sure what the problem is, i guess its the rubber holding the forks tight.
The water wash done was the worst ever, they delivered the bike with black grease patches everywhere.
Is it possible to fix the doom vibrations, please let me know if DIY tutorial exists.

I am also planning of getting a HID kit for my R15 and am a noob to lighting,
i have read several posts in this forum and am still confused.
Should i go for HID bulb alone or an HID with a project kit installed which will provide more visibility.

Does the philips HID kit come with a projector too?
Should i also rewind the coil? since the initial current used to charge the HID's is quite high.

If there's any place in chennai where i can get the HID installation done in chennai please let me know .

What is the tool required to remove the rivets in the R15 and also how should it be removed ?

        Thanks for your help

          • Just rode around 52kms in rain to office, heard a strange noise from the chain while downshifting. Dont know I am just afraid that the sprockets are all well as the noise seems to be of chain slipping on sprockets. No its not loose. I will check tomorrow in day time and then see what it is... still any possibility or anyone suggesting anything. I am using Daytona Performance Chain (Gold Chain) and yeah this is the second chain set I am using.

Just to add on there are push rivets, they have to be opened by pushing the black dot in, these are required to open the side panels.

Get the battery changed to 5 amp ones, for better performance, long runs etc.. R15 do supports 5 amp battery.
                5amp Tata Green/ Amaron etc...

Go step by step for this mod.

HID should be installed with projector only, this will help you getting better focus and on coming traffic won't be affected.
Else if you are planning to go without projectors then it will surely make on coming blind and risk of accidents.

Get it checked bro...not sure on this.
BTW what is the cost of this ?
And which specs are you looknig at ??

I guess this can be done by adding a button to start one HID initially and later after few minutes start the second one.

                • My bike slipped from the stand and fell down! I got the front faring Rs.700/- (the one which surounds the headlights) and left side rear panel Rs.400/- replaced. Additionally I got the tappet reset for Rs.300/- and the bike is running real smooth. All jobs were done at a authorized Yamaha SVC.

                    • On starting my R15-v2, today morning found that the started button is not instantaneous as it supposed to be.
After pressing the starter button, the starter motor fires only after 1-2 secs delay.
But the moment starter motor fires, engine comes to life in no time and this seems to be absolutely fine. ( Guess no probs with starter motor)

Then is my starter relay has become weak?
What could be the cause of the delay?

spray some WD 40 spray in the starter button, even i was having the same problem , it is due to dust deposits in the starter button!

                          also check the battery terminals!

                          • After 3+ years and close to 40K kms, the starter motor went kaput last Sunday. Mechanic attributed defunct decompressor pin(I have Joeled setup with RC camshaft) and asked me to replace the starter motor. Is it possible to repair the starter motor.
PS: I have replaced the starter motor with a new one and cost + labor set me back by 1900 Rs. Just contemplating about the repair of last starter motor.

yes starter can be repaired by a good local mechanic if its parts are available !
take it to a mechanic overhaul it and see which all parts are wear out - if the new parts are available and are sold separately at the service center
just buy and replace those parts and your starter will be ready to work

usually in case of starter the starter-clutch or starter brush(carbon) wear's out ,
also with your big bore there must be increase in load on starter to crank the engine due to greater compression due to which the starter parts wear out early!

MAN, why did you get the starter motors replaced as it would have been easily repaired at fraction of cost.
Just open the motor from bike, take it to the place where car dyanamos and alternator are repired. they will repair the motor for you. Usually what happens that the carbon in the commutator has worn out and new is available as OE spares.
