    • Hi folks,

My first post into this. I have r15 Black, yr old make. Very happy with my bike. Have serviced it couple of times, No major issues till.
Only thing which bothers me is tightening the chain after every 2 months, it gets loose and makes noise, What could be the issue.

      Cheers

Chains need to be tighten and lubricated in every 400-600kms for healthy chains! Chains do get lose while riding and need to take care so no worries. BTW how much kms on odo till date ??

Oh man it's not a ISSUE, that's how it is. Its like saying I didn't know my bike needs petrol to run. Lube and inspect/tight chain regularly.

maybe its time to get a new chain?
how many km have you done on this chain? how often do you clean & lube it?

to experienced riders: how long does a well maintained chain with proper riding (no wheelies or over-aggressive accelaration etc) last? is a sprocket change also recommended with every chain replacement?

My fazer's chain done 21k kms(hard acceleration, no wheelies, no pillion) and it's good to go another 5k kms

It's always better to replace sprockets and chain together.

btw I dont think Yamaha provides chain and sprocket separately.

good to hear that, i'll be happy if my chain did 20k. :-)

                  > It's always better to replace sprockets and chain together.

yup, that's what i got from the net too. but, what if the sprockets look good? Haven't checked the front sprocket but my rear one doesn't seem to have much (if any) wear.
                  14k km done so far.

It might need a change in chain sprocket , don't go for chain alone. It all depends on riding style and the way you take care of your chain by tightening and lubing it.
Mostly if chain is still lose after tightening or makes noise then mostly you have to accept the offer of mech to change the chain and sprocket.

Naah....I am not using 9amp. But that guy is using it. please check the post link.

Ok, Yesterday I went to get my old battery changed to new. But shocking !! I saw My bike which is 2.5 yrs old has a MINDA 5amp battery in it .

So Now there is two conclusions:
                              1. Mine Stock battery was changed to MINDA 5 amp by some one in SVC. (Till now I have serviced my bike in two SVC in past 2.5 yrs)[ I think it's not possible as I always keep any eye on my bike while servicing.]
                              2. or MINDA is my stock battery from day one. or something else.... lol....

In my 2.5 yrs of ownership I din't had any battery issues or work related to it, no change , charging etc ...etc...

Now I have put 5amp TATA GREEN for Rs 1400 with 24 months warranty (18 months replacement guarantee + 6 months warranty).

TATA GREEN 5amp battery is smaller in size as compare to my previous MINDA 5 amp battery.

Can any one help me with which battery does comes in July 2010 model ?? what company ?

Normally old R15 use to come with 3.5 amp batteries. Now one thing is very clear R15 V1 supports 5amp battery for sure with all usage and charging.

                              • "somen 1984"- most probably your "1)" conclusion might be true ,even i have 2009 model and my friend has ver-2 both our bike have 3.5 amp battery.

how are your battery terminal screws, are the facing horizontally or vertically? stock battery of r15,s have terminal screw are vertically fitted.

Is any one here using 9 amp battery? if yes ,of which bike,s battery are you using?p220,s?
