  • Friends,

Had a fall in ma Rachel ( R15 V2.0 ) last night, while driving back home.
It was drizzling for hours and during a turn an alto suddenly stopped and, a cbz riding right behind it collapsed and skid and hit my front wheel and i had to brake hard eventually made me to skid
I was just riding about 50 km/hr and i slided hard on the right side and my right leg caught underneath my Rachel and me ( I can barely stand at that moment )
Thanks to my laptop bag , empty road , it avoided multiple collisions and people around , they helped me lift my Rachel
And a BIG THANKS TO MY LS2 RED DRAGON, it hit the road and saved my head and LIFE.

I know how it feels bro. Don't worry, change panels/or sticker them.
Most important thing is that you are safe.
      Also replace the helmet asap.

        • R15 safety note

A note to all R15 riders: its not sufficient to just wear helmet, riding jacket and gloves!

You need leg protection! riding boots + riding pants. Atleast the boots are a must because if the bike falls on its side with you still on it, your foot is going to get trapped underneath the bike. The footpegs will promptly fold away under the weight of the bike, the pedals, RVM and fairing will absorb a little of the impact/load but an unprotected foot (especially ankle) will quite likely bend or break.

Also its worth remembering: whether or not the 4-wheel driver is at fault its you who's gonna pay the price!

Getting a proper riding boots is a costly affair, not everyone can afford one but there are alternatives like industrial safety boots. These boots provides good amount of protection and lasts long. Here's a link, made by JCB costs nothing compared to a riding boots: http://safetyshoebazaar.com/products...5/SHOP10018-p9

              • Had an unusual experience this weekend. Started for a place 20 Kms away on Saturday morning. After I reached first signal and stopped, I noticed the throttle response was abrupt. Idle rpm in every gear suddenly rose to 1.8K(just moments ago, idle RPM settled around 1.4K without any tantrums). In addition, bike wouldn't start with normal self and a little throttle. Rather, I had to rev it tad harder in the beginning to start the bike. Confused and speculating about accelerator cable stuck, I went for nearest Yamaha SVC. It was really difficult to ride in stop and go traffic. In first SVC, head mech. wasn't able to diagnose the issue and temporarily reduced the idle RPM. Had a talk with lead mechanic at other SVC, who services R1 and MT01 and has decent experience with all sort of low problems. He suggested something wrong with throttle body and asked me to come to his SVC.
When inspected at next SVC, we found considerable amount of water accumulated in the air box(below the filter). His suspicion was correct. We had to clean the throttle body (and injectors) thoroughly. After the process, the bike was back to normal except for pretty low idle RPM. After raising the idle RPM I headed back home. Checked with watchman about pranksters or any secret downpour in our area that I missed. Was amused to know that he proactively cleaned my bike with strong water jet and targeted the FFE. Though angry, I politely asked him to STAY AWAY from such practices.

                • had a similar problem. My r15,s throttle response suddenly became abrupt. On full throttle also, the bike wasnt responding, it was continuously losing power and he rev's were falling. Thought, the fuel was over, but the problem continued after filling petrol. My bikes run 29k kms, so any parts that ned to replaced, please let me know. I am the second owner so dont mimd spending on the bike but i just want it to feel new and tour ready. I am definetly changing the tyres, what else do i need to change ? Also i need to look over whilst the bike is getting serviced, which mechanic should i gonto, or should i go to the yamaha service center. If so, is the borivali or malad one good ?

Check for air filter and air filter box. Is the console showing Orange(engine malfunction light). Just asking to ensure that throttle position sensor in not popping an error.

Also, on any bumpy road, the front end of the bike lifts up and is not grounded. Is there something wrong with the fork settings?

                          1. Have you checked your front forks seals ??
                          2. Whether any oil is leaking ?
                          3. how many kms are done till now ?
                          4. Have any time serviced front fork ?

Bro really sad to know what happened to you. Please gear up and ride always. As far as i look to the way you had crashed. i think the Head light assy and and supporting stem will also be surly damaged. along with the faring and other parts which needs to replace. The cost would be nothing below 5K INR. so as per my experience i will strongly suggest you to submit your bike for insurance claim.

As far as touring is considered you should check the following things as its 29K km on Odo. things like Cones set , fork oil level, brake pads, swing arm bush, cables, etc should be checked and if need replace them. Also get your battery recharged!

                            • Handle bar weights

Just wandering if anyone has had the same problem, my handle bar weights retaining clip (called Stopper in spare parts manual) has broken, actually I can't see any damage it seems to come with 2 small pieces which hold it into place inside the handle bars, these 2 pieces must have fallen when my local grease monkey changed the throttle cable a couple of months back, i have ordered new retaining clips, not so sure they will ever turn up, I even check at Kamla Yamaha in Bombay when I was on holiday, no stocks there either.

As they don't have any mechanical function (as far as I can tell) would it matter if I just glue them back?
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

                              • Guys i would like to know
                                1) how much is engine life of a properly maintained and regularly serviced R15?
2)also i have heard that r15,s engine loses compression after 20k km, is that true?
3)how much max KM have you guys covered on your R15 without any major or minor overhaul?

if my "2)" doubt is true, will it be wise to sell my R15 after 20k KM;s and go for new one? mine is 20p model 15000km clocked on ODO.
