Any specific reason for that, and what you want to change. IMO V1 is far better than the V2 (minus the rear end)

It's not possible to convert a v1 to v2. The sub-frame of the v2 is different. Apart from that you need to change the entire front body kit, fairing, swig-arm, assembly and lots more. These changes will easily cost 50k. So, if you really want a split-seated R15(i.e v2),sell the v1 and go for the v2. But i personally didnt find the v2 worth selling a v1 for it.

Joel calls it " funny sounding air-filter". He would recommend Simota over k&n.

actually the looks of version 2.00 i found better than version 1.. the rear portion has been changed so i was thinking of doin that... i am actually confused whether to sell the version 1 and buy a version 2.00

              • R15's Coolant temperature sensor failed for 4th time

I have 2009 (20P) R15, with 21.5K Kms on Odo. For last 1 year, the Coolant temperature sensor has gone kaput on 4 occasions. It first started after a Free Servicing (Yamaha free servicing camp). Later it showed in normal city riding. Third time it happened just after 600 kms from last occasion. On all these three occasions the Coolant temperature sensor was changed after diagnosing Thermosensor failure.
After the third occasion, I got radiator setup, fan and relays checked. Infact, replaced the fan and relays. I have always ensured that the coolant level is upto the mark and I use Motocool coolant and Motul FS 15W50 engine oil (top up whenever required till 2.5k-3K kms). After 3rd occasion, I got my bike Joeled(big bore + Camshaft + FFE + Simota air filter+ head work+ Clutch springs and valve springs) and changed the CO2 level to 5. Since than the setup ran fine. After 4 months (run-in, extended run-in and normal run for around 3.5 kms post modifications) I tested my bike for 2 hours non stop ride and the engine warning light never popped up.
However, on last Thursday the warning light popped again, after 2.5 hours of run, with one break in between. Checked with FID for the error code and it (error code 21) pointed to coolant temperature sensor.
I want to put an end to the root cause. Need pointers to get this problem rectified. I am assuming wiring harness could be a possible culprit, which can cause short circuit. Apart from that I can't think of anything else.
                Experts please help.

PS: I have no electrical modifications on my bike. I am not running HIDs or anything that can drain the battery and cause the engine warning light to pop. On every occasion I checked with FID and found that Coolant temperature sensor was malfunctioning and got it replaced

Are you sure this time the warning lights showup to indicate Engine Over Heat?

There are various reasons for the lights to come on and an error code will be saved to the ECU every time.

My R15 is also modified with Joel's 165+ CC bore and an R-type piston.

I too suffered the same issue thrice (Red Led on Speedo will popup often)

Got to know this through the FI diagnostic tool at a local svc center.

1st time, From the crank position sensor, the bore got seized due to over comp, got the setup fixed with new bore, conrod, head porting etc etc

2nd time the setup was fine but the light came often, checked in FI diag tool and it was due to over heat, I did not want to modify the setup again so switched to an industrial grade coolant and since then it was fine.

The last time the Red led came due to Intake Air pressure sensor and did some minor modds to the Air filter and completely removed Catcon from Stock exhaust, now the bike is breathing well and no warning lights seen.

So if you are very much sure it is a heat related notification, I would blame the entire Radiator unit. Coz the coolant should flow through properly within the setup, fan will only help the engine to cool down externally.

Note: If you switch over to Joel's ECU may be the lights will not be shown, coz in my case the LEDs will not show in Joel's ECU. Not sure if the malfuction leds are configured as like stock ECU or it eventually fixes the issue

                    *****Edit****
Sorry, did not see that you have diagnosed using FID.

The hard gear shifting will be resolved in first service, go till 6th gear though it may feel sluggish but go for it.

I didn't say Engine Overheat. I mentioned Engine Warning/malfunction Light(Orange one not the Red one) with error code 21. And yes every time with FID tool , it was confirmed that Coolant Temperature sensor was malfunctioning. I am worried about the root cause that causes Coolant Temperature sensor to go kaput. Normally, Fan, relays, lesser coolant or some short circuit/wire harness cause such problems. I replaced/rectified all other parts except wiring harness. I ll ve to replace that I guess
