  • hey guys.. just bought a used R15.. can someone tell me, how to check -
    1. Engine oil level -->
The window on right hand side doesn't show anything. Do we need open the black cap on engine oil mount and use Dip to check the level??

    2. How to check coolant level?

    3. anything else to check except air pressure before going for a ride??

    • hi guys...as i said earlier... i have booked a "sunset red r15" n im expecting the delivery by 1st july.
I am very excited about it and at the same time im very nervous. Actually i am a total newbie in bikes and this is my first bike. Experts please suggest me about the things i should look out for once i get the bike. i have seen a lot of people asking about oils and all. please let me know about it. i need a detail list of "things to do" once i get the bike.
"SHIVANSHU" i have been following your posts and u seem to be an expert so please...please provide a detailed info about all my request and any other things you would like to add.

Secondly- im planning to install bixenon hids...is it advisable?? im planning to order it online, can a normal mechanic fix it or do i need a expert for it??.

      • Hi Guys...

        I have a doubt...

Many times in this ownership thread I came across tightening the engine manifold bolts to reduce vibrations in the bike.....

I tried to search the whole thread in order to get to know how to gain access to this BOLT...Pardon me for my silly question but please, someone clear my doubt as to where lies this engine manifold bolt and how to gain access to it...

        Hey dude....relax..
let me give you the simplest way to follow all the things you need to know about the bike....
When you get the delivery of the bike make sure that you do all the initial checkups required ...
Secondly do get the bike's manual along with the bike...Go through the manual fully...half of your doubts will be cleared as soon as you finish the manual.....for the remaining half of the doubts left, XBHP is there to help you out...

Don't worry, just enjoy the wait period and give us the good news as soon as possible....

Regarding the Bixenons HIDs , experts will shed some light on it but AFAIK it may void warranty...not sure though.

I've been noticing some sound from my bike. Its like this little sound that keeps coming from under the tank. I thought it was the FI system, but today, its a bit louder and persistent.

Could someone please help me out here? No one has answered my previous query too. People, I'm new to this bike. So please help me out.

            • Hi friends, I am noticing my rear disk is getting quiet hot even when i rarely use disc brakes and also i am listening to some noise from my rear wheel as something is touching the disc brakes.

Checked the disc but it appears normal, Please advice what more should i check?

Disc getting heated up is common.
Noise is due to dust/stone particles-get it washed or spray some pressure water yourself.
If it still persists, check the brake fluid and brake pads condition&level.

                • +1 for the noise part. I gave it for a good cleanup and the noise was gone.

                  • Noticed one thing - under strong crosswinds, the bike seemed more stable at around 110-120kmph compared to around 70-80 kmph! Any idea why?

(BTW. the place where I experienced it was on the BETL on the way to EC in B'lore)

Shouldn't we make people aware of new version that is coming? some people are new here they just log in xbhp open R15 thread and post their R15 query because right now they are interested in it. [that's why they are posting here for present R15 how it is etc]

This is not the R15 catchall thread - this thread is only for R15 owners to discuss their bikes.

They can of course ask the present owners any questions about the bike.

I heard the same version from another R15er, but couldnt beleive it and I havent experienced it myself. Abhijeet can you elaborate more on this, like on high speed, what were the affects of strong crosswinds and what was the difference when you were riding at moderate speed.

Not intending to be rude, read through the 'Owners Manual' for points 1, 2 & 3. It is 'The Bible' for the bike & answers your questions.
We can be of help with things not present in 'The Bible'.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
