No body is obliged here to answer a question. Its an open forum where you get response if-

    1) Anybody has something to say about it

    2) But choose not to.

And I believe your this simple query as well as that of others (like just above this post) could have been better answered by giving a call to a SVC or searching this particular thread. Life is simple, lets keep it at that instead of going CAPS & red

Nobody answered because its not predictable.
Its all depending on how you ride.
Should last a decent 30k- 40k kms atleast(but again depends on the rider)
And about the price.. it depends on how much they charge where u live and when so its not predictable either

i own 2008 model blue R15 [first batch first day delivery ]

The newer one are much refined than the older one ..and also lot of issues which were in older one were overcome/fixed in new bikes ... so eye closed u can go for it

(again speedo indicated)...

It's not that it could not or would not... but just that.. found it difficult to accelerate...
2008 models have feels slightly more power [acceleration] and top seed and the engine feel is rough ...with poor mileage [max 30-35kmpl]

New models have very refined engine ..smooth and great mileage [many ppl claims there new bikes gives 40+ mileage] and slightly less acceleration.

we frnds brought around 15 -18 R15's in different times .. more than half of them in first batch [2008] as group buy, and i have ridden most of them.. based on that i am saying about words..

In both Old and New bikes .. engine specs are same .. and have the similar capability.. the only difference is ....it seems the new one have improved ECU mapping for decent mileage with more refined characteristics, which intern slightly reduced acceleration and top speed which is not matter anyway for ordinary bikers like us [unless ur an serious track racer]

By your statement, I understood that you are facing peculiar issue of Handle bars up and down only after 70Kmph. It means, you are not facing it below 70Kmph, Am I right? Have you checked front brakes properly?
If so, then there is not any problems of Handlebars! May be you faced road bumps after 70Kmph or some irregularities in the path!

And, as I have bolded some phrases in your statement! You said that you just faced this problem today, if so, how many times you had taken large curve for turning? How large is it than normal turning? Usually, turning in this bike is little bit annoying than other bikes(personal experience) but it has excellent handling! If you faced this problem just once, its not the matter to worry! Try again in the road in the same speed and see if the problem remains or not? Keep updating!
it might be steering cone issue or it might be tight or lose .. check with service center ... its just a 5 min job

Maybe nobody on the forum who visits this thread has your answer. What is the reason for you asking the question in the first place? maybe that might help you.

Bike was launched in 2007 i'm not sure exactly, maybe no forum users have changed their clutches! if from the first batch, guys have run maybe 15k km's per year, that means top end of 60k km's for the first batch of R15's, with no complaints, then you could take the average as being above 60k, simple hey?

If you want the pricing, you have two options, 1) call the svc and ask, i'm sure they will tell you or 2) A member has posted a link to spare parts prices earlier and the link has been repeated a few times, find the link and check yourself, it's quite simple, just takes a little time, if you can't be bothered and expect someone else to do that for you, then that's your problem.

Many forum users post questions and don't get responses, it's no reason to throw tantrums, if you're on the forum, i'm sure you can use google etc. if you can use the forum you can use the search this thread feature, try using different keywords.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

            @RhythmRana99:

            - replacing of clutch plates depends on how u ride/shift.

            - a SVC will tell u to change your clutch plates every 25K.

Average life of Clutch plates = Depends on the thrashing it takes depending on the riding style. More or less I've seen R15's clutch plates conked up in as soon as 6k kms till 70k kms & still healthy.

Price - not sure mate, somewhere close to 3k i guess if Im right.

              Alrite, I am sure this sort of delayed has occurred due to some important facts which you are aware like;
              1) There are some questions that have multiple answers which depends upon our riding!
              2) The Expert or Mechanic hasn't seen your question yet!
              3) May be, till now, no-one has replaced their clutch plate!

Please note that my uncle having 2008Model Yamaha YZF R15 is riding almost 55K Kms hasn't replaced his clutch plate yet! When I compare riding my brand new bike with his, I don't find anything drastic change expect in appearance! Don't blame me if you are not yet satisfied! BTW, how much your ODO display?

              • Problem with my bike

Guys i have been facing a problem in my bike since 2 months. I have shown it to the guys at 2 SVC's (Allahabad and Varanasi) but both failed to resolve my problem.
                The problem is:
A very irritating sound comes from the back part of the bike (i think near the rear tyre assembly or the chain) whenever my bike goes in a pothole and sometimes when i change gear. Please help me with this. I am worried if there is ant serious issue. Also if anyone can tell me about a good mechanic in Allahabad or varanasi, bcoz i think the guys at the svc are nto expert and they know just how to servie the bike.
                PLease help.

if it is from chain then may be your chain is not properly lubed or its loose or sometimes tool kit also make strange noises.

                  • New Ride

                    Hello Guys,
I have just got my new R15 Blue 3 days back. Just rode 170 kms and planning to take it out for a spin in weekends (may be 350 kms ride). First of all, Thanks a million for such a wonderful place where I got my all the questions answered about the bike when I was planning for it. I went through most of the parts of the thread but few things really not sitting in my head correctly and thus asking again, sorry if I am repeating but please answer or provide the link with one.
                    1. What Engine oil I should use for better refinement of engine and smooth gear shift (say at my first service i.e. 600km)
                    2. I am 65 kg and ride mostly alone, what should be ideal tire pressure ? Can I go ahead with the manual info or it differ in test conditions and Real road conditions.
                    3. I am following 5k rpm rule till 500km rule religiously, should I take care of anything else (other then keeping the chain lubed).

                    Pictures will follow soon

                    thanks In advance !!!

Its advisable to stick to mineral oil or yamalube till 2k kays..

Also, don't ride for more than 50 kays in one go. The engine is new and the internals are not bed in properly. The friction will generate a lot of heat even if you don't notice it. Liquid cooled though the bike is, it can over heat if you ride for a long time even if you're under 5k rpm.

Stick with the yamalube mineral oil atleast till 2k kms...its really good...engine will surely be smooth...Though experts in our thread recommend mineral oil till 5k..
                        2. I am 65 kg and ride mostly alone, what should be ideal tire pressure ? Can I go ahead with the manual info or it differ in test conditions and Real road conditions.
Tyre pressure recommended in manual is spot on ..though I go for 30 and 35 psi for front and rear respectively...No problems faced till date. Please Note the tyre pressure recommended in manual is for cold tyres so I keep 2 psi's extra...Just my thing
                        3. I am following 5k rpm rule till 500km rule religiously, should I take care of anything else (other then keeping the chain lubed).
yes,Please keep varying the speeds for the whole <5k range...Don't keep in a constant rpm range for long...just in order to open up the engine much more smoothly..
