Buddy ...Originally posted by sundarvignesh View Postcould you tell me which dealer is this? are you happy with the service?
its the OMR showroom/SVC ..."RAJ YAMAHA"....
The servicing done by them is satisfactory if not good....you need to tell them straight forward what you expect out of them.....
After servicing is done on your bike ...check all the things you asked them to do pre-servicing...if they have missed something ...make them do it in front of you.....
If I'm unsatisfied with their work.. I directly go into the manager's chamber...Last edited by jairaman12; 06-27-2011, 01:16 AM.sigpic

some people have already used 55W for both beams and are happy.. I am a cautious rider.. will not be using High beam for more than couple of hours at high RPM highway riding.. so don't see any issue..

Hey buddy,
I apply all the precaution measures to maintain my Machine fit and fine! But, today morning I saw something really weird. First I washed my bike with water. Then I wiped up and let sometime to dry my bike. Now, I proceeded to lube my chain. But what the heck, I saw the rust(dark brown/red color) on roller of the chain! It was not so much, but how it came? I am at 2100Km by ODO and I frequently lube my chain! I use waxco chain lube(Malaysian). I rarely ride my bike in rain!
Where is the defect? Is it in the lube or Little rust is normal in this rainy season?Facebook Profile Link

philips premium H4, 55/60 W, dual beam (upper+lower).. --> 85 Rs.Originally posted by Penno View PostHow much does a 55W HID bulb cost ??
Night Breaker H4, 55/60 W, dual beam (upper+lower).. --> 900 Rs.
as per my experience, not much difference in lighting
these bulbs are used in Cars (maruti/ indica etc).. so commonly available as car headlight bulb.. just make sure you are going for H4 holder type

folks, my ODO stands at 280 kms. I didnt ride over the weekend and everything was fine till friday evening. Since today morning while commuting to office, i am feeling some vibrations in the engine, which can be felt at throttle and while hugging tank with my legs. Its prominent in lower gears. What could be the reason? should i visit SVC or is there somthing i can take care of myself?

and pick up is also quite sluggish compared to 2008 models.. dont know about other 2010 model owners.. many of them are happy... i've ridden my friend's 2008 model which i feel is better than my bike.. dont know the reason.. my bike does not match its pick up and topspeed.. i've done 149kmph easily on my friend's r15... and yes, many times..

But Nagoo, what you have wrote here completely contradicts to what we have to say... We said that the older version are much smoother... hello friends, yesterday i took my R15 to some twisties in matheran the tyre grip and all were quiet good but i realised that the rear was running quiet wide in some of the corners and the bike was sliding on the other side at times too, the tyres grip everything is fine and also i felt the rear brakes were not that sharp and effective.
Second problem, in heavy rains the headlight was not at all effective or showing the roads properly. so how you guys are managing the same.
I have both 35 watt stock headlights which are good in low beam but in high beam they dont work out enough.

was there any gravel or loose sand on the turns? the soft compounds have poor grip in such conditions so always remember to slow down to be safe. Rear brakes are not sharp and I use only the front ones like 99% of the time and they are so GoodOriginally posted by shrinathrao View Posthello friends, yesterday i took my R15 to some twisties in matheran the tyre grip and all were quiet good but i realised that the rear was running quiet wide in some of the corners and the bike was sliding on the other side at times too, the tyres grip everything is fine and also i felt the rear brakes were not that sharp and effective.

do keep speeds low during rains. as grip is low in the wet, wheel lock due to excessive braking may lead to slides.
Headlights sure are very weak. many fellow XBhp-ians have put H4 55W bulbs and some even upgraded to HIDs which are running without any issues.
I too am in search of a compatible 35W HID but don't know where to find them or the wiring.

Tubeless tires don't let out air easily as the normal ones do. I bought a tyre repair kit and a small foot pump and carry them with me when I go out for long distances.Originally posted by DeepMahal View Post2+ years of wait. And finally the time's come...
A Black or Blue YZF-R15
It's a sunday so I'm gonna book it tomorrow.
A few quick question's to R15 owners please-
1) It's tubeless tyres..
I've never ridden tubeless tyres..
what happens in case of a puncture?.. there's no tube to mend right?
so how does it work
2) I've read about R15 and theres a mention of Coolant level..
I have absolutely no clue about this too :S!
So please advise me what's it and how does it work.
3) Finally the most imp question.
Kindly help me with a few important point's so that I make sure I get the bike in the right condition.... I mean not a faulty or a dysfunctional machine...
This hunger of touring is unbearable now. lol!
And godwilling, a Bombay-Amritsar-Bombay by this year end hopefully.
Thank's in advance to R15 owner's!!
Hope i get 1 soon too :s

sometimes if you dont use the bike much as in if its standing for a longer duration, then moisture also plays part in formation of rust. Dont worry about it, get it cleaned and lubed couple of times and it should goOriginally posted by wildest View PostHey buddy,

thats not the only difference, the new model which is 38B1 also has FZ clutch plates which play a role in slightly lowering the performance but then yes you get a better mileage. Though touching 3 digits for me on my 38B1 has never been a problem, only after 140kmph it takes some time to reach 146kmph and above

Thank You manOriginally posted by navnish View Poston low revs the battery might show signs of weekness. If your above 5000 rpm shouldn't be an issue .
Thank you for the info...was not knowing what slipper clutch isOriginally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostDO NOT downshift without using the clutch, either you will break the gearbox and/or seriously hurt yourself. A slipper clutch has nothing to do with being wet or dry, basically a slipper clutch is a type of back torque limiter. Here is what happens in a normal bike without slipper clutch:
1. When you down shift, you first engage the clutch.
2. For that split second, when you have engaged the clutch, the engine is free, and the rear wheel is no longer being driven by the engine.
3. Thus the engine speed and the rear wheel speed are no longer synchronized and there is a mismatch of speeds.
4. When you down shift and release the clutch, the engine which is at a different speed compared to the rear wheel speed will try to bring down the rear wheel speed to the match its speed, thus you feel the breaking effect (also mistakenly known as engine breaking). Thus, the engine drags the rear wheel speed down to match the engine speed.
5. This breaking effect can be very nasty at high speeds especially with larger engines.
6. Dipping the throttle is done to match the engine speed with the rear wheel speed before releasing clutch again so that the compression breaking effect is not so pronounced.... It is a acquired skill and needs practice... Personally, I feel that the R15 is an ideal bike to learn the art of dipping...
The slipper clutch mechanism slips or semi engages the clutch till the engine speeds match the rear wheel speeds... it can be present in dry or wet type of clutches. Hope this clarifies your doubts
. Oh... and it is not present in the R15.
