  • Hey Guys...
Done with my bike's 4th servicing today...
    Bike's become smooth as ever...
At 7k kms ,switched to semi synthetic..
    Got front disk pads changed....
    coolant topped up....

just came back from a good 10km ride...
    found one issue...
when accelerating it feels really smooth...but when left idle while running and while braking I found as if something is touching near the rear wheel....very little sound like "khrrr khrrr " is coming and something is definitely touching...can feel the little harshness in the right foot peg also because of it....

any idea guys why is this happening....

Did you really need to change the disk pads at 7k kays?

And that sound might be coming from the rear disks. Happens when there's dirt on the pads. A simple wash should solve the problem.

Actually there was some life left in the older pads....but the new ones were available for 380 bucks...so got it changed.....kept the old one with me for some emergency needs though....

        • So does anyone has an idea as to where I might find an aerosol can matching the shade of the white in the Limited edition bikes?

Or does anyone know the colour code of the white shade of the limited edition bikes?

          @tenhut, nice video bro

          • Engine trouble Warning light yet again....

I am facing intermittent blinking of Engine warning light. The Engine warning light comes up after riding in stop and go traffic for a while. Problem is that when I switch on the engine... the Engine warning light doesn't blink(I am not able to note the code and co relate the cause). Only after riding for a while, it starts showing up( keeps glowing for say 30-40 secs). After that it starts blinking, if I try to switch the engine off for a while and switch it on.
What could be the possible causes-
            1) Dying battery.... I was told by my service centre about the aging battery...
            2) Excessive engine heating due to very old engine oil- I ve been using FS 300v 15W50 for last 5k. I know its time to change. Just wanted to know whether, this is the cause,
            3) Any faulty sensor.... last time I faced a similar issue and the culprit was faulty coolant temp. sensor.

i faced something similar when my battery was drained out when my bike was 4000kms old.how much your battery lived?
is your coolant at right level? have you ever replaced your whole coolant with new one? how much your bike is old?

Is your radiator clean? Whats the coolant level like?? I suggest get the bike checked asap for another faulty sensor.

Checked the chain freeplay for the roughness and guess what ....The chain was overtightened like a rubber band being stretched ...went to the service center and luckily found it open....Blasted on the sales manager for their negligence...the sales manager was like a cat in a corner surrounded by dogs..
He immediately called a senior service person and got the chain tension done to the ideal level...now the bike feels as smooth as ever...

Btw got 2 bottles of cold drink free too ...courtesy to the sales manager..

It's a sunday so I'm gonna book it tomorrow.

A few quick question's to R15 owners please-

                      1) It's tubeless tyres..
                      I've never ridden tubeless tyres..
what happens in case of a puncture?.. there's no tube to mend right?
                      so how does it work

                      2) I've read about R15 and theres a mention of Coolant level..
I have absolutely no clue about this too :S!
So please advise me what's it and how does it work.

                      3) Finally the most imp question.

Kindly help me with a few important point's so that I make sure I get the bike in the right condition.... I mean not a faulty or a dysfunctional machine...

This hunger of touring is unbearable now. lol!
And godwilling, a Bombay-Amritsar-Bombay by this year end hopefully.

Odo reading- 14800 Kms. And I am using the stock battery. Do I need to charge the battery or I need to replace it.

Coolant level- Just around maximum. Yes I had to refill the coolant completely after the coolant was flushed because of faulty sensor- (http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post627586 )

Bike is 1 year 8 months old.

I m not sure about the radiator. Coolant level is just below maximum level. One observation- radiator fan won't start in stop and go traffic when engine generates excessive heat. I am taking the bike to SVC tomorrow morning.

im sorry but from what i have seen dealers here dont seem to stock accessories. But you can put in a special request with your dealer and ask him to get it.

Even im a first timer with tubeless tires. I've read that one can ride on with a punctured tire to a certain limit. There is a puncture kit to repair it. Makes use of filler material to cover up the hole.

                              2) I've read about R15 and theres a mention of Coolant level..
I have absolutely no clue about this too :S!
So please advise me what's it and how does it work.

unlike other bikes the r15 is liquid cooled which means there is a coolant to maintain the engine temperature levels, hence this makes use of a radiator which is used to dissipate the heat from the hot coolant with the help of a small fan behind the radiator. ( you can see it from air scoop gaps) So one needs to have a check on the coolant levels to make sure they dont drop too low.

                              3) Finally the most imp question.

uh, just take it for a test ride and make sure there are no vibrations from the fairing etc. Check oil levels etc. I think fellow xBhpians can throw some light on this query, as im not sure what else to look out for

I would still suggest to ride it rather than send it in train, as I know that even after immense packing sometimes other parcel are stacked on top of the bike

Tubeless tyres have special puncture repair kit and its very easy to do it once you get to see it. Its a bit expensive from the normal tube tyre puncture repair. The advantage of tubeless tyre is that you can ride it even on small puncture. if the tyre gets deflated you can just fill the air and ride till you get the puncture repair shop.

So please advise me what's it and how does it work.
When you get the bike read the manual carefully and you will find it yourself

Just make sure while taking the delivery of the bike you check:
                                1. all the oil level (engine oil, coolant, brake oil)
                                2. for all the electricals to be working properly.
                                3. chain adjusted and lubed properly.
                                4. check for scratches and all.
