Option 1 - No, you can not use the Hi beam.

Option 2 - Not of much use.

What I suggest is to get HID for the low beam. Approx cost 1.5k.

AFIK, you will need to save the extra 25 watts or so, pilot lights would need to change to LED's and the lamp that illuminates the rear number plate, this would give around 12 watts saving, next would be your tail lamp and brake light! and keep your revs up, alternatavely you could go for a bixenon in your low beam.

What engine oil is recomended for the R15? Mine has just completed 3000km, due for a service, the oil looks new at the moment now, but will get the servicing done next week. Please don't ask me to use the search function, R15 and oil are not forum search engine friendly!

got my fairing changed but charged 450 for labour have anyone charged for labour plz tell updates are form yamaha

If you use punctuations, it will be easier for us to understand.

You should not be charged for labour, as it is a replacement carried out under warranty as per instructions from Yamaha. I wasn't charged a dime for the change, & if I was, I wouldn't have paid.
Check with your area office, & I hope you have a receipt for the labour charge. You should get a refund.

If you are still on mineral oil & are happy, you can stick to it.
Else go for Semi-synthetic (SS) oil. I'd recommend Motul 5100 15W50, over the Yamalube SS.
If you are chaging between oil types (mineral, SS or FS), get the oil filter changed as well.

Got my 2nd year service done.


Accelerator/clutch cable changed.
Few accessories added again. Now except for front wheel shaft remover, I have got myself all the accessories including few new ones.

The best oil as per me is, Yamalaube semi synthetic. (haven't used Motul's semi, but have used fully synthetic)

Sorry for the incomplete last post.. as I was saying, I recently noticed a bent link on the chain..AFAIK it is mainly due to improper/irregular lubrication of the chain..which ain't so in my case..I have been taking care of the chain..have done ~7k till now..what could be the reason then?? Also, the bike has become really rough even after having it serviced and having switched to motul ss..roughness not only in terms of vibrations but also the engine sounds harsh... what could it be...?? Would appreciate any inputs....

guys, had a 340kms long trip a week back....the ride was just awesome except for a little back pain at the end of the day but the bike din't show any signs of tiring....i was very happy with it.....now the problem...

was riding behind a car at about 70kmph and i was blinded of the road ahead(MY MISTAKE) i shouldn't have been doing that....happened to hit a couple of pot holes at a time and the bike shook heavily...there was a pillion too...immediately i stopped the bike and checked for any damages...din't find any with the naked eye but while riding, i can feel the front bouncing a little bit....could it be with the wheel????? i find it even worse when applying brakes...i could feel it heavily... when asked, the SVC mechs told that wheel isnt their problem...gotta get it checked near a local puncture wala....what can i do?

will i be able to change the tyre under warranty? my bike will be 1year old on april 5th...

and also the handle seems to have moved out of its position...seems like its bent a little to the right...the mech told that it can be repaired but he asked for 350bucks...or he asked me to get the left handle bar changed which is about 350bucks....
what should i do? im busy with exams so unable to get it sorted...my hands are paining terribly due to this....

please pay a little bit of attention to my problem and do post a reply.....and BTW i got my fairings changed....total of seven pieces...looks more flexible and durable...happy with it....

No idea what oil is there (only had the bike for 4 weeks and it's my first bike) but from experience with cars, I am assuming it's SS, the engine and gear changes are both very smooth and the oil looks great, trouble is the previous owner has shifted abroad, so I can't ask him.

I think i'll go for semi synthetic when I change the oil and filter, it appears the best option right now.

Hey guys did anyone noticed any sound after releasing the full clutch lever? some tak tak tak tak sound.....my bike is now at 6.5k kms and this sound start coming after 2-3weeks from the day i bought it..... i asked yamaha service man they says its common in all bike the sound is sooo irritating and they says its common .......and can anyone tell me the best service center in bangalore?

So HID in the left pod? can you please tell me which one to go for. are they a direct fit. And what happens during the high beam. sorry, i dont have a good knowledge about automotive lighting.
