Hey guys ... i'm confused here ... i bought my R15 just a month ago and its front brakes were constantly giving a screech sound while on good speed like 50km/h .. i got it once checked and yamaha guys said it has some dirt and small pebbles in it .... they cleaned it with compressed air and the problem subsided and now it has risen again .. did anyone else got this type of problem ? any proper remedies ?

it is not a problem, there must be some dirt or small pebbles in the brake pads, spray some water with force in between the pads..
it will keep on coming since its rainy season and dirt will come and go every now and then..
dont worry chill..

will you tell me if the battery can support the 55W bulb for long hours?

on low revs the battery might show signs of weekness. If your above 5000 rpm shouldn't be an issue .Originally posted by Prakritij View PostBon Voyage:-)

DO NOT downshift without using the clutch, either you will break the gearbox and/or seriously hurt yourself. A slipper clutch has nothing to do with being wet or dry, basically a slipper clutch is a type of back torque limiter. Here is what happens in a normal bike without slipper clutch:Originally posted by jairaman12 View PostHi Mates....
AFAIK R15 has a wet plate clutch type...
What is the differnece between wet plate and slipper clutch type.
Does that mean we can downshift just by braking and blipping the throttle and without using the clutch??
Please bear with my NOOBish question...
1. When you down shift, you first engage the clutch.
2. For that split second, when you have engaged the clutch, the engine is free, and the rear wheel is no longer being driven by the engine.
3. Thus the engine speed and the rear wheel speed are no longer synchronized and there is a mismatch of speeds.
4. When you down shift and release the clutch, the engine which is at a different speed compared to the rear wheel speed will try to bring down the rear wheel speed to the match its speed, thus you feel the breaking effect (also mistakenly known as engine breaking). Thus, the engine drags the rear wheel speed down to match the engine speed.
5. This breaking effect can be very nasty at high speeds especially with larger engines.
6. Dipping the throttle is done to match the engine speed with the rear wheel speed before releasing clutch again so that the compression breaking effect is not so pronounced.... It is a acquired skill and needs practice... Personally, I feel that the R15 is an ideal bike to learn the art of dipping...
The slipper clutch mechanism slips or semi engages the clutch till the engine speeds match the rear wheel speeds... it can be present in dry or wet type of clutches. Hope this clarifies your doubts
. Oh... and it is not present in the R15.

Get upto around 4k rpm in 4th gear. Pull in the clutch lever and shift to third. Hold the clutch till the rpm is down to idle then let the lever go. You'll experience a sudden braking force. some people have already used 55W for both beams and are happy.. I am a cautious rider.. will not be using High beam for more than couple of hours at high RPM highway riding.. so don't see any issue..
will let u know anyways
