Any suggestions for riding gears? Looking to buy a helmet and saw one in the Yamaha show room itself. Not sure if its their official one for R15 but the graphics looked similar to R15 (same blue and white); price is around 2K.
Should I go for the helmet at Yamaha showroom or buy one from outside? Of course safety comes first but I'd like to have some nice design that would go well with the bike.

I saw some helmets at the Yamaha showroom, which were having similar graphics like you described. Yamaha it seems has some tie up with Studds, to sell helmets there. I even took a brochure that mentioned Yamaha and Studds together...Originally posted by hariz View PostThanks guys!

It costed Rs. 1500 in my small city. I believe that good Studds helmets cost below Rs. 1000 if we take from outside without Yamaha's name, right?
If you do have a budget of around 2k, I suggest you extend it a bit and go for an LS2. I'm not sure of its price at all though, can't recall correctly...---

My bike turns 3 as I'm writing this.
I really felt bad for her&took her to the SVC for a wash, chain clean&lubing(after 6 months).
Off late, the gears were very hard too. Clutch cable setting was adjusted. Bike feels renewed now.
All done&when I thought of getting the insurance renewed this morning, I was in for a shock-the previous policy had expired on 02/07/2010!

That done too, atleast I didn't feel ashamed when the evaluator was clicking pics of the bike!
Yamaha guys still have no clue about the new R1x bike, though they are confident FZ250 is on its way!
@shrinathrao: I am mailing you the pic of the Yamalube 300 buck chainspray since I couldn't upload it. 450ml qty.
It doesn't make sense to use the 1400 buck dry type Yamalube anymore, as the chain itself is cheaper than that!

Unlucky Saturday for my Bike
Bhai log,
got into a problem
...
Yesterday, I had first fall...
I was going to Laxminager via kalyanpuri and at a turn, I stopped to ask direction. I was told to take a left turn. I was turning the bike and was supporting it with my left leg, there was pothole on the left and my leg was just on the edge and all of a sudden the the stones below my feet collapsed below (couldnot find the correct word)and my feet went 5-6 inches down and result was my fall and bike on top of me.. the road (if i can say it a road) was already inclined on left and bike was tilted already..
due to this, the bike was on top of my left leg.
result: knee cap injured as it hit the stones below.
Injury to bike: Left indicator broken, clutch lever bent, handle slightly mis-alignment.
One query: What is the cost for alignment??
The SVC quoted me 1700Rs for the alignment and 150Rs for the clutch lever.
is it OK?
Please help...

Servicing and maintenance of R15
Hey everyone,
I own a 1.5 years old red R15 and have clocked 12k on odo. I live in hyderabad and the service center that I go to sucks at servicing. I think in the name of servicing all they do is change the engine oil and clean the filters, that's all. They even ignore the problems that i have mentioned. so when the time for servicing my bike came closer i thought what is the harm in trying out a local mechanic. It seems though that they do not have "15W50 Yamalube Synthetic 4-Stroke Racing Oil", which i think is the recommended oil for R15. They suggested castrol ones. Should i try a local mechanic with castrol oil or should i stick to SVC ?
Anyway I have been observing some issues with my bike regarding engine noise and low pickup at low end. Is it normal or there is anything that can be done to fix it ? I am aware that R15 has less low end power but is it avoidable ?
Thanks.

Definitely not OK, 1700 bucks for alignment, Shut the f up , What has happened is that your left handle bar had the full weight on the bike on itself when the bike fell to the left, so it has bent a few centimeters to the inside of the tank. According to me it's not a big issue, I've been riding with a bent bar since god knows when and I don't feel it to be that much of an issue. If you think that it is a big problem when riding, then you can change the left side handle bar to a new one which costs 350 bucks only and your bike will be as good as new.
Since it was a low speed crash I don't think the front wheel is out of alignment. Also get the indicator changed, I've never had my indicators changed so I don't know how much that would cost you.
All of this, i.e. handle bar change, indicator change, and clutch lever change shouldn't cost you more than 600 bucks, the SVC is scamming you man.
@ all R15 DIYers, I just adjusted my clutch wire. It was having excess free play ever since my last trip and I decided to get my hands dirty today so got myself a 200ml pouch of grease and went for it.
1.Pushed back the rubber cover that sits on the clutch wire.
2.Now there were 2 screws that I was seeing, on was rather bigger in diameter and was between the other screw and the clutch lever, I'll cal it screw 1 from now on. The other was smaller than screw 1 in diameter and was on the opposite side of the clutch lever, I'll call it screw 2 from now on.
3. So I just loosened up screw1 a little, then I turned screw 2 which in turn, turned the longish screwish pipe. Turning screw 2 lessened the free play and I continued turning screw 2 till there was just about 1 cm free play left on the clutch lever.
4. Now the question, I turned back screw 1 away from screw 2, now it kinda holds the "pipe screw" part of screw 2 securely in place. It is tight enough that I can't further turn screw 2 without having to loosen up screw 1. Should this be the ideal configuration of a clutch cable?

Yesterday my friend purchased a blue R15, today he came to me for the projector light installation; to which I agreed. I installed the projector lights correctly, all the circuits fine. I switched it on and everything was fine then I put on the headlight assembly, front fairing and started the bike again and it was working like it should. As soon as I put the side fairing (right side) and started the bike and switched on the projectors then also it worked, but as I switched off by the key and then switched on the ignition, to my horror
the LED didn't glow,it showed nothing, none of the electricals are working. I tried to push start the bike, it started but the engine troubled started glowing and though the bike is starting the engine trouble light is still on. I left it to idle for a few mins., the engine trouble light stopped glowing, but as soon as i tried to cross the 4000rpm mark again it started glowing. When the bike is on, then the electricals are working but as soon as I switch it off again no display nothing.
.
I'm really sad because of this. Please help if anybody can and to make the matter worse it is my friend's bike which is hardly I day old
