hehe I thought the cable running from the wheel hub is the speedo cable.
Anyway I am getting a small noise like scratching metal after changing the pads but as it comes between 5-6k rpm, I don't think its caused by the pads.
    any ideas?

I think its the chain. My bike is also having some roughness at around 5.5K RPM.
Earlier I thought only the RHS pilot lamp socket is gone, now looks like the entire RHS headlamp wiring needs to be checked as even the headlamp is not glowing!

          • hmmm. its really bad that the noises are creeping and the reasons are not found easily.
hope things comes to normal. chain tensioner still between 3 and 4 but chain noises are coming frequently even after lubing periodically.

About the tacho needle, sometimes it shows 0 even a few secs. after the bike has started&then suddenly leaps to 1.5K RPM or so. Slow response.
Other than this have not observed any other problem with the tacho.
Which mech do you get the bike service done from? Or are you still using the Yam SVC..

The Vertigo is a hard compound tubeless tyre. Was highly suggested by a tyre-wallah, he claimed that he had installed this one on many R15's. Even offered me money back if I wasnt happy with it. It is the same width as the stock tyre but the profile is higher, so the rear of the bike feels higher by 1-2 inches. Haven't noticed any difference in grip levels, cornering is just as good as earlier. Grip on gravel and mud is MUCH better! Also much more puncture resistant, which is a boon.. The tyre is a lil heavier than the stock one, so the bike feels more planted and stable on highways.

Another thing I observed - Due to the higher profile tyre, the bike does higher speeds at lesser rpm. On the stock tyre, you'll be doing 60kmph @ 4000rpm. On the Ceat you'll be doing 64/65kmph @ 4000rpm. This helps immensely on high-speed touring as my bike is doing 100kmph at a lil over 6000rpm!
All in all a perfect tyre for tourers and commuters. The stock tyre is obviously better for track enthusiasts due to its lighter weight.
A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

guys sorry to butt in this way,I am having some depressing moments with the R15 at the moment.
Please Kindly help me out here with suggestions.
Problem:EVERY TIME i try to start the bike after a period of more than 7-8 Hours of parking,it protest while firing up.I have to twist the throttle and she slowly starts up.After which she behaves very erratically,The rpm needle keeps moving around constantly and When i gas it she takes a good half a second to respond before revving up higher. This happens for first 2-3 Kms(I am constantly struggling to avoid stalling the engine..I avoid this by constantly reving the engine at signals or at low speeds) Problem get 98% resolved after about 3Kms and she responds brilliantly there after.

                Bike Set up is:

                piston:stock
ECU: Joel's ECU (racing concepts,no rev limiter, more meatier feel in 4k-9.5k range, slight top speed increase.. 143Kmph as opposed to 138 before)
                Filter: SIMOTA wafer steel mesh.

                Bike History:
                Purchased 18Nov 2010
                ODO: 14468 Kms(25 Nov 2011)
Accessories: Installed HID lamps and struggleg for a month before removing them and installin brand new front dome to remove the mess.
Thats it apart from this its full stock.

No worries bro-my bike has also become rough&not handling properly bcoz of the cone/air leakage issues.
Small wiring prob.&loose chain etc.are there but the bike has never been to SVC in a year's time. Never even washed.
Still, I'm not worried as I'm sure she'll be fine in 2-3hrs. after I take her for a good SVC. That doesn't stop me from ripping away happily!
Simply love this bike-can take all sorts of abuse with a smile!

bro charge is alright. but 1 thing i have to tell you is never use mineral oil to your bike. it will surly cause damage to internal parts of your bike and also heats up fastly!

mineral oil doesn't cause any damage to any parts whatsoever if changed at correct intervals, nor do ss or fs oil. if not changed at recommended intervals any oil be it mineral, ss or fs is not good for any engine

I think it the a/f mixture is running lean. try fitting the OEM air filter and check. The OEM filter is the best one and I don't know why people go for after market ones and allow more dirt and moisture to enter which eventually leads to other probs. anyways, to each his own.
report back after the filter change.
                            {just my opinion}

                            • ^^^ Quite the opposite... It is running too rich... check the spark plug, if it is completely black then it is running rich and if it has whitish ash colored deposits it is running lean.

The problem is occurring due to the bike being stone cold in the morning. From what I gather from his post (Joel will of course provide greater clarity), since the bike has starting problems in the morning, he is needing to twist the throttle to start the bike. This is upsetting the mixture composition as the values for the same are being derived directly from the TPS sensor and MAP sensor.

The solution (maybe): adjust the idling screw for greater initial idling speed so that the bike can start without any throttle assistance.
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
