*Even the minor (and some rare major) faults are now being highlighted because people know that engine is not being imported anymore, thus creating a negative prejudice .

*Since the process was re-engineered there might be glitches here and there. does not necessarily mean the components used or the whole quality is down.

*Sales volume has gone considerably high so probability of faults have gone high

      Just my perspective...

        • Hi..i have replaced my rear tire 100/80 with 100/90.
Will it affect the bike warranty?

Also is there any difference in performance between the earlier R15 model and the new one...i heard the earlier one had indonesian engine and now the engine is being made in india.

          Comment

          • whether the engine is made in Indonesia or India, the engine material and the procedure is same...only a single man cant make an engine whether it is made in India or abroad....as the workmanship quality is concernd then i dont think so that Yamaha will compromise....so the engine made in India are equally reliable that made in Indonesia......

the only doubt is that why Yamaha has not cut in the prices.....

              • The new R15 is a F*****g load of S**t..!!

I take back every blasted thing i've said about my R15 till date! I'm too emotionally charged right now and jus wanna speak my mind.. What the F*** have i paid a lil over a lakh for?? If i wanted a bike with vibration, rattling and ok performance i would've gone for a screwed-up, raped 15 year old bike rather than this heap of crap.. After taking care of my bike so well, it's just been a heartbreak riding it recently!!

I dunno if its the bike or the service center, but after the 1st service the day before, the bike felt quite good. Then it all suddenly went down the drain!!! Gears lock up, bike vibrates like f*****g god-knows-what, windscreen buzzing, no power!! Name a problem and the bike has it! Shuld've listened to my buddies and picked up a Pulsar 220 or Karizma ZMR, rather than go blindly for this bike just by the technology claimed and 1 test ride!!

People are discussing whether the engine is being made in India or being imported. By the way my bike's been behaving since day 1 i'll bet my life on it being manufactured in india. I've worked at Volkswagen India and i kno how these guys can screw up even a class German machine such as the Polo. Forget Indian manufactured vehicles, cars like the Jetta and Passat which come as CKD's cant be properly assembled by these idiots!! When i first got my bike, i thought it was rough because it was new and needed to run-in. After the 1st service its jus gone bloody ten times worse!! And to top it all, i always wondered where the dealer (Perfect Riders) got the vehicle from in the first place! It wasnt one of the bikes in their stockyard. Coz they had jus 2 reds and one was delivered a day before i got mine. The day i took delivery, the other one was still in the stockyard at the service station, and they wheeled mine in from somewhere behind the showroom!

No doubt its a great bike, this R15, but ONLY IF ITS BUILT PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! I'm sure my bike WASN'T! I envy the guys out there who got their bikes in the first lot and pity the guys who are waitin to get theirs.. Oh man, are they in for a shitload of heartbreak and disappointment!! TWO damn years i yearned and dreamed of the day i'd own one o these, and this is my experience. Utterly devastated by all this..!!!

Jus came back from work, no mood to eat or sleep! A colleague jus got his bike yesterday and i flipped when i felt how smooth it was on Day 1 itself, a far cry from mine!! Gonna take the bike to the showroom and ride it into the sales guy who sold it to me. I dunno if i'll be happy if they fix the bike, coz all my love, affection and passion for it has gone down the drain! I'm sure i'll calm down eventually, and i know what my plan of action is gonna be. First, i wanna meet up with any R15'ers from Bangalore to ask them to ride mine and compare with theirs. Once its confirmed that my bike is F****d up i'm gonna sell it immediately. Heres my number guys : Akshay - 8147513464 Please call or msg me wheneva possible, would like to meet up at the earliest to show u the bike. I'm drafting a stinker to Yamaha India right now, and will send it as soon as i find the customer care e-mail address on this ownership thread. I know i'm gonna sell this bike coz the service center wont be able to fix it up to my satisfaction and Yamaha sure as hell wont give me a replacement!

Hope u guys never go thru such a disappointing experience EVER. We all share a common passion for biking, and mine was just shattered into oblivion by this experience. Cheers to all the guys enjoying their bikes! I cant tell you how much i've enjoyed reading and learning so much about biking on this thread. Take care and always ride safe.

Yeah, really, what are the problems it has?
I'm sure Santa or some other older R15 owner can help you out. I'm also in Bangalore from tomorrow to Sunday-if you are anywhere near Old Airport Road, gimme a call on +91-99492-11031&I'd be glad to help.
Don't worry, everything can be fixed as good as new-what is warranty for!

from ur words it seems how much ur disappointed , but i like to advice u to use some of ur common sense before writing the words in anger, do u really think that all the product will pass the assembly lines to showroom just like that ... ?? no right there are procedures and there are rules to follow and quality checks ...

u mentioned about assembling the CKD unit , it will be the case in earlier trial units when they will come first to market , now R15 already reached 2 years .. and 99% of bikes comes out of assembly lines are perfect.

ok , if u blame the SVC guys i can agree, but not the machine itself, i think the service guys did screw up ur machine, ..

i can help u , if possible just bring ur machine if ur stay in B'lore .. within a day ur prob will be corrected.

and BTW .. . . my bike gonna complete 2years next week .. i am planning for a BD celebration of my bike

hey take it easy man....there are many severe issues we people handle in daily life....but this is just a simple problem in your bike you need not get dissapointed for this as this is only a simple issue which all machines show in their regular process for some its earlier for some its later, but never get turned off believe me take this as a challenge to fix your bike and thus you will start feeling an attachment towards your bike...thats how you love your machine like a mother loves her child.....as you have said we all have passion for biking...and just passion wont make it complete its the desire to keep bike which you love with you and enjoy each day while riding...dont sell the bike you love man rather try hard to bring into life your machine..and say it loud and with proud that this is my bike...

Which tyre have you bought ? How much did you pay for it ? I got a MRF 100/90, with the raised rear there is more pressure on my wrists and I end up moving forward on the seat in city riding.
