chill out man. think clearly. do as told in the manual. it is a machine not an electronic gadget. so dont worry about doing unnecessary damage even if you break it in instead of running it in. rest assured the r15 will not break down or give engine troubles. sleep well.Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Posthi guys i know that there are lot more discussions about run in period i have gone through but my points are not cleared till now also....!! here are my points of deliema

Using the oven is risky. Use a hair dryer and a knife with a large blade. Heat one section, wedge the blade in and lever the two halves apart. Do it for the entire assembly, but take care not to lose the glue. Otherwise it won't be an airtight seal.Originally posted by spit_fire View PostHey guys...
Sorry Bout going off topic but I need help...
.. I've got water, leaves etc in my headlight assembly thanks to a 'trusted' mechanic who forgot to put the rubber sealants back behind the assembly.
Now, would anyone know how i can separate the assembly? I mean, i got it removed from the bike and stuff but how do I separate the Hard glue? Please don't mention the 'oven' method because I think it's a bit risky moreover i don't own one.
If any members around Chennai could help I would very much appreciate. I had messaged Digislayer about it but he hasn't accessed the site in a while.
Please help..
thanks
All these queries have been answered numerous times on the thread. Just need to search around.Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Posthi guys i know that there are lot more discussions about run in period i have gone through but my points are not cleared till now also....!! here are my points of deliema

1) 1000kms. change engine oil & oil filter after that and you're set to go.
2) First 500kms under 5k rpm, next 500kms upto 7500rpm. Don't use constant throttle, keep varying the revs.
3) No constant speed.
4) At 1000kms.
5) No. Do atleast 4000kms before going for a semi-synthetic or fully synthetic oil. Better bet would be doing it after 6000kms.
6) Upto you. I use normal fuel. Some people have reported Speed causes slightly higher heating than regular fuels. Xtra premium is good for a premium fuel.
7) After you've finished running-in the engine.You get the point?? :D

I am having my whole meter assembly replaced FOC on Warranty. The problem was, everytime I wash my bike, the meter used to display some irregular lines of display just before the needle makes a full rotation and for few minutes after the key is off.
However, the strange thing is.. it only appears for few hours after washing... anyways.. I will have a meter reading 0km all over again! Cheerios Yamaha!----------------------------------------------------

1. Run in period is for how much kms or time?
Total run in period is for 1000Kms.
2. wht speed and rpm MAX can one go in run in period?
For the first 1000 km u can take the bike till 5500 rpm and in the next 500 till 7500 rpm
Its the rpm that matters not the speed.
3. constant speed should be maintained or not? if yes what speed?
It is advisable to vary the rpm range rather than riding it at same rpm for prolonged periods
4. first service at how much kms?
1000kms or 30days whichever comes first
5. can one use fully synthetic oil at first service only? MOTUL or Yamaha one?
As per users experience its not advised to use fully synthetic oil after fist service. Yamaha works will with yamaha engine than motul
6. which petrol is to be used unleaded or high octane [ speed or unleaded] which one is recomended?
high octane petrol is also unleaded petrol, high octane petrol is not going to do wonders to your performance. however in long run a better burning petrol would result it cleaner engine components. Yamaha recommends the usage of simple unleaded petrol not the one with additives. petrol with friction busters can have adverse effect on motorcycle engines if used for prolonged period.
7. at what kms or time i can fully pull R15 to itz limits or rip her hard?
after the run in period
Answers to your question are given in the owners manual. Read it, the purpose of yamaha giving it to you was not to waste paper or ink.
Anyway will try to answer your questions as you are in kinda hurry!Ride swift, ride safe...

Power Loss in my R15
Hi Friends,
My R15 has clocked 11000 kms now, its periodically services at Panache Motors, Indiranagar. after the 4th service the performance of the bike has drastically dropped, it struggles in mid range as well as top end. Top speed is just 112kmph which will again take a very long time. Its behaving like a 100c machine with lag in power & torque.
When complained the same they did some changes in RPM using Engine Rev meter and adjusted the Clutch settings but issue still persists.
Please advice me a good R15 service center in bangalore to regain power in my bike.
Before the fourth service it was clocking quick 137kmph (no modifications).
Now its time for 5th free service, I was planning to get it done at Bangalore Wheels this time - How are they ?

^^ check the condition of the front sprocket, and get the chain washed thoroughly... thoroughly... with a good kerosene spray, then water blast, then pressurized air, and then finally the chain lube spray.
I have experienced loss in acceleration and top speed due to a worn out front sprocket ( it wears out un-evenly on one side, increasing the rolling friction )
My offerings to the gods of speed -
- KTM Duke 200
- Yamaha RXZ 5 speed
