  • Problems:

    Hey all,

4th day of ownership and 596km on the odo. Been doing the running-in properly. Got the headlight beams adjusted and lowered the brake and gear levers to a much more comfortable position. Experiencing lots of vibration from the engine!!! took it to Perfect Riders service station and the guy there said it'll be alright after first service. He got all fairing bolts tightened before i left. Met a few more R15 riders on the streets and asked them, they've never faced any vibration probs wit their bikes when they were new! Also the accelerator feels a lil hard and the engine doesnt rev freely, but thats probably coz im comparing wit bikes with 5k - 10k on the odo.. But the vibration on my bike is definitely not acceptable.. Could anyone here please help? Wud be verrrry grateful!

Another thing, the engine sound is quite 'whiney'.. The other R15's i've heard have a growl. My bike has a good exhaust note, but cant hear it over the whine while i ride.

Vibration is serious. Search the thread for the engine mount bolts. Although its alarming they are loose/improperly torqued, better be safe than be sorry. Get them tightened or do it yourself.

2ndly all new R15s feel very tight and the engine 'whines' as you rightly said. Do 6k kms and the sound will change, you will actually experience the change, everytime you rev across 5k rpm.
              You get the point?? :D

and as jd666 said. Do that!
Absolutely correct, done 39K here and my R15 starts within half starter... No problem in battery at all.

                      • HI All

                        HI All,
i was away from bagnalore for the past 6 days. Yesterday when i came and started my baby R1 . it was starting fine. but on the way back from my office i noticed that, when i tried to start the bike with full light on, it was very sluggish in turning on the bike. So i truned the lights off and strted still it was very sluggish. It felt as if the batery was very low on charge. Then i keep the bike switched on for sometime, took her out just to recharge the battery. and it became alright. But this is the second time it's happening. Does the battery drain power so soon even if we ddin't take her for a week? Gurus Please reply or else is there any problem with my Battery?

                        • ^^ yes its normal. 3-4 days of riding will bring the battery back to normal. If it still does not get normal, then get it checked.

                          • Heyy ppl...after waiting for 2 painfull years, here comes my baby R1, today did all formalities and will pick her up on 28th(acc. to mahurat), and luckly i also had a talk with the mechanic, discussed few topics with him and surprisingly he asked "saab naig taiyaar rakhna". I was indeed happy to hear dis as it increases chance of better services nd also advisible by xbhp members.

                            b/w i hv some querries
                            1) how much kms does a brand new r15 has on odo (they say it's abt 2 kms)
2)clutch nd brake lever on my bike seemed to be tight and that tightness too was uneven as compared to a new black r15 parked aside. What could be the reason???

Isn't that a little too low a pressure to run it on (the manual recommends 28 and 33 for the front and rear, respectively)? Is this because there's leakage or because it doesn't matter much since you plan to replace the tires or...?
