    2. Just completed 500Kms should I lubricate the chains? (have not ridden in heavy rain yet. lite drizzles, yeah two or three times)

    3. Want to choose the ideal chain lubricant. I understand either we can use motul chain lube (or similar) or Yamalube dry type lubricant. Yamaha dry type I understand is very efficient, less likely to absorb dust and slime, last long but also is costly compared to motul. I live in kerala and from next month onward rains would be a daily affair. I have read fellow members writing Yamaha dry type last long only if its used in a relatively dry environment. considering the price factor and also considering i would be riding in lite to heavy rain once a week at least..wouldn't in require frequent cleaning and lubrication even if I use yamaha dry type lube? In that case would motul be a better choice considering almost 1000 Rs difference in the price? please advice...
    hey brother!

1- fillin up nitrogen does not make much difference as 75% of normal air is nitrogen itself..
yeh, for super sport bikes like the r1.....it is very important as is keeps the tyre cool during long and hard rides...hence, more stability.....but for city riding conditions nitrogen is not so helpful...but yes it will increase the life of your tyre....go for the nitrogen for your circuit machine..
it is a good choice....for you...it will help you to keep the tyre cool and will increase its life..!

2- just 500 kms covered....well, according to me i suggest you...just put some used engine oil on the chain...no need to go for the expensive oils etc.......for the time being put some engine oil.....and when you take your bike to the first service...get it cleaned by the service guys..!

3- i have no idea about that...but you can go for the yamaha one.....it costs around rs 1400 and can be used for more than 16 times.

because you are using too much of the wrong brake. use the front one to stop, not the rear one. there are a 1000 pages now to read on all of this... start from page 1!!!!

          • Hey guys,

Will be taking delivery of my yellow R15 in a day or two..
Cant wait...!! Been reading this forum from Page1, cant believe
its a 1000 pages now!! This has GOT to be the ultimate resource
            on the R15..

Bidding adios to my few-months-old Honda CBF 125 Stunner,
the bike served me really well, probably kept me alive on many
occasions with its easy-going handling and sharp brakes.
Dint suit my purpose of a tourer tho with its short-gearing and
tiny 125c engine. Really looking forward to the upgrade with much more
power, smoooooth engine and 6 gears.

Have booked at Perfect Riders, Lalbagh Road, Bangalore. Any advice
on which service center will be good to leave the new buddy with?

Looking forward to seein all u Riders on the road.. Cheers!!

            • Posting the 10000th post :P

anyways.......my bike is recovering from the accident......The dealer has advised not to change the whole exhaust and keep it as it is.....although he has advised to change the cover and cap

              I'm confused what to do

                hi
boss just tell me one thing beside riding comfort is r 15 is gonna suit me, i think it looks smaller
It basically depends on what are you looking for in your bike. R15 is one of the best machine till date Indian Market has offered. Yes its a bit low on initial torque but in long runs its an amazing machine. Once you are adjusted to the riding style you can ride it all day long. About suiting you it completely depends on the objective of what you are you looking in the bike.

As JD said you using the braking wrong, you would be using the Rear Brake more than Front Brake which is what is making your rear tyre lock. Try using 70% of front brake and 30% of Rear Brake. But do it carefully you dont want your front tyre locked.

Not true R15 riders having more than 15k under their belts say it hardly makes any difference, it all depends on the riding style.

for good life of the chain, clean the chain after every 500 kms.. many chain cleaners are available in the market but if you want the Yamaha one, that will cost you around rs. 1400 to 1600... and can be used for more than 20 times.
R15 has O-ring chain which is very different from the normal chain in our Indian Bikes. Dont even think of Greasing you will ruin it. And there are chain cleaners which the SVC guys use to clean the chain. The chain sounds come when it is not lubed properly, so check for lubing.

Only use 90 grade oil for lubing the chain or else you will damage the O-ring chain

I am 5' 11" and 85kgs the bike riding position is excellent without any problems, for first time the change from normal riding position of older bikes RX/Shogun etc to R15 is radical but within few kms it becomes second nature and taking curves at speed is real pleasure on this bike and total confidence, smiles all the way

                    • Why off roading tyres , R15 is for road/tarmac racing using otherwise for rough terrain is abusing the purpose for which the bike was made

Advanced congratulations! Camel Yamaha Yellow looks fantastic man! It's very distinct from rest of the R15s.
Well, look for a tall, well built fellow(I guess the name is Vinay, I am not sure though) in Perfect Riders. He will be good to you. From what I have heard, Bangalore Wheels(Rajajinagar) is supposed to be the best in Bangalore. However, I found Perfect Riders very good when I took a TR!
Good luck with your new machine. Think about hitting the track(Track days) once the running-in period is over. Ride safe.

I asked for help..not cross questions.I don't use my bike for road/tarmac racing.and i strongly disagree with your point you said above. If a bike has good control, handling and cornering abilities then it doesn't mean that you can't take it for offroading.
I hope you are using your R15 for Indian Moto GP's if you own any. ..Jokes a part.

I am taking my bike to Leh (Again I hope i am not abusing the purpose for which R15 has been made,if yes then i have to rent a RE and go to LEH ).So taking the bike in the stock tyre will be a suicide. That's whay going for the offroading tyre.

Why don't you try for MRF Motocross tyres?

dont worry with the front disc brake usage, i have been using disc since long, but yes will take care.
