  • yeah connecting the FID will also give the fault code for the respective sensor. but i though that when he said that the FI system has been checked, it meant that the FID had been connected.

The FID will be available only with the yamaha service engineer.

BTW i do have one left for sale if anyone is interested.

If the dealer is saying there is no stock and the bike is expected on june first week then you can pay the booking amount of RS 10k and if your planning to get your bike without any finance and in single down payment then you can pay him 50 % of the value and wait till the stocks arrive.. actually the dealers prefer full cash payment customers and would surely arrange to deliver your bike asap as it helps them to acheive their monthly sales target too.

As for the R15 there is good demand for the bike now and the dealers have to make advance booking with the company with full details of the customer and payment etc and then the dealer is alloted with the lot so just relax and make up your mind. R15 is a great bike and am sure you will enjoy each and every riding moment.

      happy and safe riding

Use that product you get on Teleshopping network-which removes dents from cars.
          Else get it dented&painted locally.

What is the IDV & premium for you bike's renewed insurance? Which insurer?
This response may be a little late, but it'd be useful to know.

The IDV for vehicles less than 5 years old is arrived at by applying a standard rate of depreciation (this is the same across all insurance companies and is declared by the Tariff Advisory Committee - TARIFF ADVISORY COMMITTEE'S HOME PAGE). However, you can negotiate plus or minus 10% change in the IDV proposed by the insurance company and pay the corresponding premium. Since your vehicle is more than a year old, a 20% depreciation would be applied to get the IDV (see the table below).

Note that companies like ICICI Lombard generally propose higher IDVs to get a higher premium. If you have a total loss (theft or damage beyond repair where cost of repair is more than 75% of IDV), then the insurance company may pay what it believes to be the current market value or your IDV, whichever is lesser. So don't waste your money to increase your IDV a lot. Check the fine print of the policy to see if they have clauses to rip you off by paying the market value (it's very likely they will).

In my experience and opinion, the nationalized companies are the best bets. Try Oriental and United India. The likes of ICICI Lombard and Bajaj Allianz exist purely to extract money. I didn't find their service to be good at all (Bajaj Allianz really sucks a lot if you try buying a policy online). Also, ICICI Lombard does not allow you to change the IDV if you buy online.

Here's the depreciation table from TARIFF ADVISORY COMMITTEE'S HOME PAGE

AGE OF THE VEHICLE % OF DEPRECIATION FOR FIXING IDV
              Not exceeding 6 months 5%
Exceeding 6 months but not exceeding 1 year 15%
Exceeding 1 year but not exceeding 2 years 20%
Exceeding 2 years but not exceeding 3 years 30%
Exceeding 3 years but not exceeding 4 years 40%
Exceeding 4 years but not exceeding 5 years 50%

Finally, don't forget to get your NCB (no claim bonus), which is a discount on the renewal own damage premium. In your case you should get a 20% discount. You can get it even if the policy has expired, as long as you renew within 3 months of the expiry date.

              • MRF Tyres

Reading through the forum there seems to be many complaints of the stock MRF sof compound tyres not being available. So I wrote an email to Yamaha.

                Subject MRF Tyres for R15

                Hi.

This is with reference to the availability of MRF tyres for Yamaha R15. There is no availability of the stock tyres manufactured by MRF and recommended by Yamaha for the R15.

Request you to please let me know when the tyres would be available with MRF distributors in Mumbai.

                -------------------------------xxx-----------------------xxxx---------------------

This bloke Chanderpal calls up real enthusiastic and tells me "who is your service center?" So I tell him. Then he tells me to tell the service center to write to Yamaha HQ and order the tyres on an "urgent basis". He follows this with "Tell any service center my name" - Guess he is real popular

The difference between "urgent" and "normal" as explained by Chanderpal is that "urgent" takes 3 working days by courier to reach the SVC whereas "normal" is 7 working days.

Chanderal claims that the tyres will positively be made available to the SVC, but the above route must be followed to obtain them.

I hope this works! Should someone order the tyres using this system - please post on this forum in case you are successful or not.

Thanks for the information buddy! Though I already got my insurance done on 12th itself.
I'm sure it will seve helpful to others though

BTW, I got the insurance done for my 1 year old bike with 10% depreciation. And that is the rate applied across insurance companies if I am not wrong. I do not think any of them depreciate at 20% at the end of first year.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                        • @ Prakritij

Would try to answer your query regarding booking of the bike as I also had some issues and doubts during booking period and I believe you have also booked the bike with a dealer in Kerala.
Unlike in most other parts of the country, in Kerala most Yamaha dealers take only 1000 RS as booking amount (checked with 3 different dealers in two districts, same 1000 RS). I think this is because there is a serious delay in delivery of R15 across Kerala. Its not rare that people end up waiting for more than a month to get the bike. In my case I booked the bike with one of the dealers in Trivandrum and even after 1.5 months the dealer was not able to deliver the bike. Even though I said them that I will pay full amount in advance, they were not ready to accept it saying that, they are not sure when they will receive the load from Yamaha. As the delivery was getting insanely delayed I checked the availability with two other dealers in different cities and got to know that even if you book paying any amount they are only hopeful that they can deliver in 30 days. And at this point I got in touch with a different dealer though a friend of mine whose boss was a good friend of the dealer. They had one bike which came two days before and was still waiting for the person who booked the bike to pay full amount. Because of the good friendship my friends boss had with the dealer that bike was allotted to me as i paid the full amount next day morning itself (The dealer i initially booked the bike with was happy to refund as they had already told me to try with other dealers also as they cant commit at all about the delivery date).

It may sound ridiculous that people are waiting for 30-50 days in Kerala where in cities like Bangalore and Mumbai the bike is being delivered in 10 days or so..

If you are going to book or have booked the bike with any dealer in kerala be prepared to wait really long (unless yamaha has made changes in their supply management and are also producing more machines to meet demand)

^^how many kms did you clock on the 'zma?

all motorcycles need to have an adjustment of tappets, it is just that R15 being a revvy m'cycle requires it more(say every 8-10K)
