its about 200 kms frm my place

r15 can cover 200 kms in a single stretch?
or i would have to stop at intervals, to let the engine cool to ensure a safe and stable ride?

Pranjal all the best brother, few things to remember before taking her for ride:

1> check for Chain lubed properly.
2> check the coolant level.(though it should be all fine as your bike has done only 2600kms)
                3> tyre pressure.

And above all wear good riding gear helmets, jackets, shoes and carry all the original documents.... and ride safe

When I completed my 1 yr, I checked the return amount written something around 70k odd. Since its my 1st bike I hv 0 idea about insurance n all; however I felt something fishy.
When I did some inquiry, I found that though I have paid for r15, Orion motors has registered the bike with fz16 entry in the insurance company!!! . Though the Orion sorted out immediately and I need not run for it later. But thanks to god, nothing happened in 1 yr. So I feel wat amount u r saying it cud b for fazer. And yes, its oriental insurance.
Plz give details about ur finding. I am sure it will help many ppl who r new.
Thanks man! Will keep this in mind while getting it renewed today. The showroom had power failure issues over the weekend

It is advisable to stop over and take a 5-10 minute break to allow the engine some respite every 100 km or 1hour (whichever is earlier).. I know its liquid-cooled and all, but thats for keeping the engine cool, not for giving it rest..
The breaks become even more important if you will be ripping the bike more often than not, and riding at high RPMs throughout the journey.

                  Have a safe trip!!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I can consider the highlighted point tibby, but not that LC4V needs to be stopped after every 100kms for the engine to cool down. I think radiator, coolant does all that..

                    what say???

                    • Since the bike is out of run-in, it will not need frequent stops. New engines tend to heat up more&its advisable to give more frequent stops.
Rather than the bike, take your breaks for yourself. 200 kms. is nothing-the machine has all possible technology to cool it down (radiator fan, coolant, etc.) You can run it all day long above the ton mark&it wouldn't complain but you need to relax. Calculate your bio break timings&stretch well when you take a break, the bike will be eager again by the time you hop on!

                      • see when your butt needs a break,
don't care about the motorcycle and keep an eye on the fuel-gauge as if your over and above 8k, the fuel level starts dropping rapidly

I remember having read on this thread long ago about the frequent break advice. Looks like there is a change of opinion here now

EDIT: Maybe it was a different set of people recommending the break every 1 hour thing.

Tibby if the bike would have been in run-in condition i.e. under 1000kms then yes thats the procedure of touring ( to stop after every hr to let the engine cool down)
but since this bike has done 2600kms and is 4mths old so that means running procedure is over here, hence you take a break when you want to as this bike is a Gem, she wont get tired but you may...

When I tour on my RX, there has been many times when I rode her non-stop for more than 100kms and this has happened many times.... so R15 is far more advanced and she can do better man
