  • Tibby why dont you first of all see what the other insurance companies are asking for..... and then I think it would be better to draw a line

The IDV of the vehicle under this first insurance contract was INR 92,407, with premium of INR 1,692 (Premium 1,534 + ST 158)

I have received a letter for renewal from the same insurance company for IDV 77,816, and premium of 1,265.
My friend and I think that the IDV is too low (no insurance claims made till date).
Do you think I should get the insurance company changed, and/or the IDV?

What is yout take on this? Please help as I plan to get the renewal done over this weekend.
        Hey Tibby,

Had posted a similar query a month or so ago on this thread. Had got a few useful replies, try fishing them out.

Hey Neil. Thanks! Did check back at those pages..
I need some info on the IDV of the renewed insurance (not discussed in those pages), as 78k I have been quoted seems too low..
What is the IDV & premium for you bike's renewed insurance? Which insurer?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

This what I get from new india assurance website

How to select the sum insuredThe sum insured of a vehicle in a Motor Policy is referred to as the I.D.V., which stands for Insured's declared Value.
In case of theft of vehicle or if the vehicle is totally damaged and beyond repairs in an accident, the claim amount payable will be determined on the basis of the IDV. The IDV of the vehicle is to be fixed on the basis of manufacturer's listed selling price of the brand and model of the vehicle proposed for insurance at the commencement of insurance / renewal and adjusted for depreciation as per schedule.
IDV of vehicle which is beyond 5 years of age and of obsolete models of the vehicles (i.e. models which the manufacturers have discontinued to manufacture) is to be determined on the basis of an understanding between insurer and insured.

                  Location? (city or town)

I got 27 KMPL in one ride totalling 950 KMs. I even felt a little loss in acceleration & top speed.

I got 42 & 43 KMPL in the same route the earlier two times.

I went crazy and called up the Yamaha service head for AP region, fixed up an appointment at the workshop. It turned out to be that the chain was too tight even after riding 900+ KMs. Once set right, it is back to its normal state.

Call up your regional office. There are paid to help you. It could be another small issue and they would be able to fix it.

Can u pls tell me is r15's performance is greater than karizma's performance..............i mean the pick up and not the top speed.

in general how will you compare r15 with karizma?

Both the bikes are different man.

But let me tell you .. you will not be Dissappointed with R15 low torque.

I have ridden both and its very difficult to judge as far as performance
goes. The R15 has to be ridden hard at high rpm's because its
meant to be ridden like that (also due to its tall gear ratios)

But you have got to see the whole package put together on R15

The Handling of R15 is as close to R1 as it can get.

And after ridding R15 .. you just can't ride anything else

So take my word go for R15 any day.

R15 has got a fuel injection system and liquid cooled. Engine is too good.. The bike is aerodynamically perfect.. My first bike is R15 and I learn riding from that.. After 4 month I am riding at 110-120 kmsph and never felt any problem with control.. I am touring in this and It is great...

                              • disk brake

After some 4000 rpm, there is some sound coming from my front disk brake.. After checking I came to know that the brake pads are touching the disk(after a short ride also the disk becomes hot). I removed and cleaned the brake pads. But the pads are still making contact with the disk(but it is reduced).. Any idea how can I set the required gap between the disk and brake pad??
