  • Guys,
I have my Rear Disk pad changed at my 3000 Kms service. Since then when ever i ride in Dirt, the brakes make a scratchy noise from then on. i went to the Service centre twice and what they did was just washed the rear brake disk area and gave me back. But soon after that the sound returns . is it a known issue or like is it due to the improper assembly?

    • Yeah, same for me, except, I'm still running the stock rear brake pads post 16k kms.

So that is my brake usage. I don't feel confident using rear brakes. They are used only for slow speed navigating, on loose ground, in water logged spots, etc.

For actual 'braking' I always use the front. And vigourously! Changed at 8k, 12k, and now using my third pair. Bear in mind, my riding involves a lot of high speed braking. from 80-100s down to almost crawling pace.
      You get the point?? :D

It stays between 7k and 10k for me most of the time..and the engine is doing great even after covering 16k KMs this way, has a CO reading of 0.80 in the pollution checkup! I'm SO happy everyday for buying this bike!
I don't redline it all the way, just about 2-3 kms.out of every 12-13. Rest is all shifting at 4.5-5.5K RPM. But there was a time when I used to do that all the time, and nothing happened except for the tappets getting loose! I'm happy everyday I ride the bike too!

I think the stock set lasts longer than the replaced ones. I replaced the front pads for the 1st time at 15K kms.(my usage was more touring and city commuting was only in wee hours due to early morning shift), rear pads for the 1st time at 9K kms.(I was using more of rear braking then). Bike is now at 18K kms. Now the front looks good for another 7-8K kms.&the rear is worn to the hilt-I have been riding for the last 2 weeks with my right foot off the footpeg. I'm waiting for the service to be done-lots of things to be done&will also get to know the quality of the new cheaper pads.
But yes, you are right-the life of the pads depends primarily on usage pattern. I think, with average usage, they will last about 8-10K kms.with mostly city heavy traffic riding&upto 15-16K kms.on highway riding.

I had my first puncture experience today, after more than 2 years of having the bike. 2 nails. I wasn't carrying my repair kit, so had to shell out Rs.150 (after bargaining). The end of the strips look like chewing gum is stuck to the tyre. Will it cut itself off in running? Should I leave it like that or cut it off myself?

he he Chewing gum... i liked that...ya actually it will look almost like that. Didn't the repairer cut the long portion out? but some portion will be pointing out and no need to cut it... it will get wearied out in the running...

PS: they have facing short of stock now, promise me to deliver within 15 days.
Saturday I got my shipment (MIVV exhaust), after terrible long two days for fixing/adjustment. finally it was fixed on my R15 by myself.

1st Ride was awesome, feel torque has little improved ( I can pull R15 on 2nd gear at 12 KMPH).

PS: Pictures and video update in coming days

Nice, but an exhaust made for the 125cc mill? How is the high end response ?

                • My Front and Rear brake pads lasted till 9000km. 16000kms now, and the 2nd set looks good . My friends haven't worn out yet. He has clocked 13,500kms. It varies with usage. Defintely.

Any official news on The FS Engine Yamalube?

Not available in Pune Factory Shop, atleast.

                  • It also depends on the payload of the bike. If the bike is carrying a heavy pillion the wear and tear of the break pads will be doubled.

The extra length popping out of the tire is supposed to be cut off actually but no one usually does it.

                        • The left low beam of my bike when lit seems to point mostly the left side of the road. I tried adjusting it with the two screws under the cover but still it wasnt by any means satisfactory. But the high beam when both the bulbs light up is spot on. So i was thinking if connecting both the bulbs in low beam would have any negative effects on the battery.

IMO it should not have any negative effect as in high beam both the bulbs are already working. So having the same setup in low beam wont harm.

It has fit without any trouble in 150cc mill (R15) also.

High End response I haven't check, coming weekend I will explore it.
