  • Front Alignment Problem

Hi.. I bought a R15 Yellow last week. Was riding a Karizma for the last five years. I really love this piece of Yamaha machine a lot coz of the handling and braking efficiency.
The first service was on Monday. Changed the Oil and filter, chain tightened, lubricated, washed. That is all.
The real problem is, after draining the oil, the mechanic leaned the bike to drain the oil completely when it was on the work bench, front wheel locked (hope you all understood what I mean). The front wheel alignment changed. I didn't noticed that time and i was in a hurry to return to my office. But when i started riding, I was able to feel the change and the wheel to handlebar proportion has changed.
The service center is 35kms away and I cant go there frequently as i am running my own business. I am also sure that the service persons do nothing if i complain them about this.
Can anybody tell me how to clear this myself? I know to loose the two bolts which interconnect the two tubes and adjust it. But when i do this it will go to one side or another side. What to do?
If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

You can go to any tyre shop that do alignment like in car tyres...They will put your wheel on the machine and will place the weight wherever necessary...I am guessing that you are not able to solve this very problem of putting the weight at the right position..

Bro.. the problem is not in Wheel Balancing.. i mean.. the the handlebar proportion changed with the front wheel.. that means. when the front wheel is running straight, the handle is a little bit inclined. we will get that from rinding only. It affects bike's stability in braking too..

I've personally ridden an R15 which had this same tire at the rear and the handling was nowhere near the R15 mark. Add to that acceleration had dropped considerably as I had to pull upto 7-8k rpm just to get a little acceleration from the vehicle. Regarding the FE, I cant say anything as I barely rode the '120rear section R15' form around 50kms, but it will be safe to assume that the FE WILL surely drop. I did not get the chance to check the top end of that r15 but I think that the top end would also come down by a considerable margin.

I'd go back and change the tire to the stock one if I were you.

i can't comment of the bike you rode , but am happy after installing this tyre ... i can easily take down karizma ( filter + jetting) in acceleration and top end ...

And also my bike will be having Daytona ECU in some days + exhaust !!

and i don't ride much its a weekend machine so i don't care about FE .. i changed tyre mainly for looks , AND still have OEM tyre lying in garage ..

The biggest advantange is don't feel small bumps caused by poth holes on INDIAN roads and bike feels much comfortable !!

Paid 2500 for this tyre !!

@ Snehil this is the same chiragh you met at Mumbai

And there is so effect in handeling in city riding .. i still have to test this bike in mountains so i"ll post about it later ... for me its a worth buy

I too faced a similar problem. Your fairing has cracks. You may not be able to see them without opening up the fairing. The experts will be able to help you with the engine smoothness.

                    • Need immediate Help

                      Hi Fellow BHPians
I am in need o immediate help , Recently there was some noise (Kcch kcch sound) which increases on accelerating from the lower portion of the bike , i got it inspected and SVC guy said it is due to chain dryness , he cleaned & lubricated it well and asked me to run it for 50-100 kms , I went to him for about 3....4 times & everytime he lubes and asked me to try for some more kms . But even after doing so sound did not go , rather it has increased ,SVC guy is also not finding any clue as why it is happending . So finally he asked to replace the chain (costs arnd 1700 bucks) . Now i am in dilemma whether to go for change or seek some other alterntive , i really don't have any confidence as whatever he has done or said .

It has been over a month riding like this and it really piches , , please provide me some suggestions..

are you riding in rain?? If so then the chain loses lube..and its the problem of lubing I think...get the chain clean thoroughly and lubed and see the difference and also clean the rear sprocket..

                          • @kamal - tell him to use some gear oil to lube the chain, instead of the motul chain lube. see if it makes a difference. Also clean chain properly before lubing.

to clean the chain, what do you recommend other than motul chain clean?

How many KMs did your bike do? Consider tappet adjustment only if it's like 10k-15k kms unless you redline your bike all the time.

Diesel is the best bet, not the safest though. Also, if you want a perfect cleaner, you get the Wurth Industrial Cleaner. It's safe to be used on O-ring chains.
