  • I am thinking of getting a tank protector. I ride with jeans on and the lower part of the tank has already got scratched due to it. Should the normal 300 rupees sticker types do the job or should i get the official yamaha tank protector for 700?
You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

    • 300?? I paid only 80 for the tank pad I have, and it does the job of protecting the tank from the jacket zipper and other stuff, go ahead with the Rs300 by all means, just make sure you stick it properly, w/o any gaps or air pockets

        Thanks mate.

Whats the difference between Yamalube SG and SL? Both are mineral 20W40. The SG costs 180 and the SL costs 220.

          • I'm feeling a bit jealous seeing you guys care for your bike...I've not cleaned mine since a month, there is an inch thick mud on the chain cover, mud splashed all around the bike, rear disc pads worn to the hilt, engine oil is almost 4K kms.old.
What's more-after shifting to this new area, daily my bike is getting bumped from behind in heavy traffic-sometimes I think I should have bought a HH Passion if I intended to use it like this!

My first bike was an RTR180. I really loved the bike except for the vibrations it used to produce. So i sold it off. Having ridden the RTR, i was more oriented towards revvy engines with good handling and sporty riding position. So the R15 and the P220 were the only bikes that i was considering. The P220 was great VFM but then again i just looked at the technology that powers the R15. Liquid cooling, 4 valves, fuel injection, monocross suspension, deltabox chassis, the list goes on. Combine this with the fact that its the same team behind this mini sports bike that designed the R1, my dream bike. So after giving lots of thoughts to it i finally decided to go for the R15 even though its 70cc less than the P220 and 30cc less than my earlier RTR180. And i have to say i made a wise decision. I have ridden P220, RTR180, ZMA. The R15 may have the smallest engine among the 4 but it feels so different than any of the other bikes (with no disrespect to the other bikes) and let me not repeat the other well known traits of the bike.

Thanks a lot to svjhonda who went with me to the showroom for the delivery. He helped me a lot in the PDI and other stuff. As of now im running in the engine carefully according to the manual. Looking forward to be an active member in this thread as i was in the RTR180 thread.

              Congratulations bro

Nop. If I am not wrong if you make it to right/clockwise, it will be tight. Means idle RPM will get lesser, towards 900 RPM. If you turn anticlockwise then its will increase towards 1300 RPM. It was at normal. 1200-1300 RPM.

Ya. This seems to be the correct measure for this issue as of now .

                        • Any tyre hugger for the R15 available or can FZ hugger be modified to fit, I think this part is missed more in rainy season

Like I told you, SL is a newer grade than the SG. Now what improvement has been made in the oil, I do not know.

Hehe, rest easy bro. Even my bike is extremely dirty. Just like yours. I'm cursed. Whenever I clean it, it rains the next day and my bike's mucked up.

The FZ's will be too wide to accomodate. I was thinking more about the Stunner's wheel hugger.
                            You get the point?? :D

Same here, the day i get a tank-ful or wash the 15, it rains the very same day.

Stunner's is a fit, haven't tried, but someone has(perhaps JD)
