Friends I am closing 9000km service of my R15. Kindly let me know what all is needed to be done at this servicing? I heard that tappets and all have to be adjusted at this service hence, kindly she some light on this. Sarvajit, miss you buddy.



Ashaq- get your air intake manifold checked for varying rpm and engine stalling. Also see if your FI system has been set properly or not. and yes keep us updated. All the Best bro

^^ at 9000 kms, get the tappets adjusted, oil filter replaced, air filter replaced, spark plug replaced, front fork stem nut tightened, and swingarm checked for lateral play.

Also a thorough cleaning of the chain would be great.

- Coolant level to be checked an topped up.

Need some advice guys....

My bike's really noisy. Not in a good way, either.
Makes one hell of a racket on downshifts, hard acceleration and at the redline. It's done around 2100 km, second service done. I'd asked the guy at the service center to look into it and check and adjust valve clearances and stuff, but i don't think anything was done about it.

It's a sort of mechanical clatter. Lots of vibes through the bars and pegs too. What could it be?

whats the condition and tension in the chain?

Chain's on the looser side. Condition is fine. I don't think it's the chain though.

On the overrun, (If I accelerate hard in a particular gear and then close the throttle), there's a ticking noise coming from the engine.

Overall, the engine feels rough. Checked oil level, seems fine.

Alright guys, I got my second free service done for my bike at 2991 kms today. Tasks done at the service were:
1. Engine oil changed.
2. Air filter cleaner by blowing compressed air.
3. Balancing of the front rim and handle bars (It was out of balance since I'd had a fall some 1700 km ago and since then it had been outta balance.) = Rs400
4. Adjustment of chain as it was quite loose
4. Washing

Total cost of service: 400 as I had brought my own engine oil.

I took the motul 5100 semi synthetic oil for Rs450 from Karol bagh on the previous day. And what a change there is after the oil change!!. The gear shifts are so smooth that if I wear sports shoes while riding, I dont even feel if the gear has shifted!! Earlier it used to be very very hard. Add to that, The smoothness in the engine is something that one has to notice for himself.

All in all I'd recommend the motul 5100 for any r15 rider who is looking for a semisythetic alternative to that crappy yamalube SS .

I did not get to rectify my speedo sensor as the SVC was out of stock of it so . But I'll get it replaced as soon as I can


Also, I came back home and started lubing the chain. (I'd brought the motul chain lube sometime back). As this was my first time Lubing my chain I was unsure as to how to lift the rear tire up. I borrowed a car jack from my friend and placed it under the exhaust pipe (just a little before the point where the pipe is connected to the exhaust can) and voila the rear tire was free .
I used kerosene to clean the chain and then used a really wet cloth to take the kerosene off the chain. Then I used a dry cloth to take off all the water that was on the chain.

I left the chain to dry out so as to remove any traces of water left. and MY GOD I was taken a little aback by looking at the state of a shiny chain. I guess I was pretty used to a dirty mucky chain. Next step was lubing and went comparatively hassle free.

My bike is serviced and I lubed the chain myself. I pretty happy right about now

Maybe its the engine mount bolts gone loose. Get that checked. Because frankly its too early for tappets to come loose!
The idling should be adjusted on a warmed up engine. So first and foremost, open the airbox, clean the inside, clean the airfilter and then set the engine idling speed on a warmed engine. If the problem still persists, then maybe there's something wrong with the idle rpm screw. Check that. Also check the throttle cable tension and get the free play adjusted.
I guess you meant cleaned the 'air filter' by blowing compressed air?

And rim balancing is fine, how was the handlebar balanced?

Yes, it definitely feels nice to service your bike all by yourself. Its slow, but the pleasure it gives you is unmatched.

When the balancing was being done I was arguing with the svc manager as he asked me to get the chain lubing done from the svc itself and said that it was compulsory. I had forgot to take my motul chain lube with myslef for the service so I said that I'll do it myself at home. And while this was being argued upon, the balancing was done. All I can say in this regard is that before yesterday the bike seemed to lean towards the right if the handle bars were left while riding. This does not happen now. Also, the distance between the tank and the handle bar was around 2-3 cms less on the right side as compared to the left. This was also rectified

You got that right mate. It's bad that I can't do more stuff myself. I'd love to learn how to change engine oil and clean the filter myself. I guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on the mechanic the next time I go for a servicing

While today riding to office, suddenly the bike started screaming and got rough. Within no time I realized the matter. The idle set screw is missing . It fell down somewhere. Now I have no idea how I can take my bike from office. Any other bike's bolt will fit? Or should I go to yamaha showroom and come with another one and fit myself?

Plz suggest a permanent solution. This is the 2nd time its happening. Though last time I found it lying in garage itself

hey buddies, i am really sorry to state that last sunday i met up with a small accident on my r15..resulting
the right side fairing, broken
headlight mask, broken
silencer cap, broken

actually, i was not able to see a turn on the road (night time). so i crashed with the divider. after the accident the bike was not lying on the road...the bike was standing as supported bu the divider. the bike has done only 5000 kms

i got insurance survey done
the next problem is
the bike does not feels smooth as before
i mean a lot of vibrations i can feel them when i stick my knees on the petrol tank.

you guys have always been so helpful.

Surprise, surprise!! Got restless siting in cubicle when my bike is injured. First called orion motors. No idea what they got about the problem. They estimated its worth 6k for the bolt. According to them it comes in set. Next, I went to parking area. Checked all the area down that section(Just above the engine). I found it secure. Means something can be kept. Guess what I found the bolt lying there! After 1 km ride !!!. Fixed in parking area it self. Lot of curious looks when a sports bike is getting fixed in office parking by an IT guy.
Now can I send a feedback about this to yamaha. Can some one please help me to get the appropriate mail id?

My guesses to the problem of the idling screw falling out is that have you guys dialed in a very low idling value, say 900 +/- 100 and the screw is held only by a couple of threads, which due to vibration can fall out? Correct me if I'm wrong,

^^ true. alternate is to fix it and apply tape over it to secure in place.
