Tyre pressure, Wind, Postion of sitting account into it. Don't worry. Grab a Ride of the Yamaha, and you will not look at the 220. But, its your choice at the end of the Day.
I second that. Its different for diff riders

Shouldn't the Grade 90 oil(gear oil) be good enough to lube the chain? or should i search for OKS/Motul lube as well?

I have finally decided to ditch Yamalube. Which oil and grade would be recommended?
Petronas isn't available in my part and I do not wish to go in for Fully Synth as I change oil religiously at every 1000kms.
yup 90 grade gear oil is good enoug.
Try motul 5100T 15w50. cost 400/- ss. Its pretty good i changed to it a week ago

IIRC, the price has been revised upward, to 450 now.

      • Front tyre still losing air

The front tyre of my R15 is consistently losing air for last 2 weeks. Eventually I have to refill it everyday. I checked at 3 different puncture stations and none were able to find any puncture. However, everyday the front tyre loses around 3 PSi . What probable issue can cause this. Is the tyre rim slight bent?(Visually I couldn't find any alignment issue)

You seem to have checked for the major culprits.
However, the leak could be due to a tiny gap between the tyre & rim (sealant issue). Its also possible the air is leaking from the air valve. Does your bike have the valve cap on?
Try 1 thing, dip the front tyre into a small tub of water at home & keep rotating the tyre till you find the leak. I'm pretty sure the puncture shops would have tried the 'pouring water on the tyre method'. Get back to us if it helps.

I checked for air valve. It has cap on it . Checked a couple of times for this using thin film of soap water but seems like air is not leaking from air valve.
Its true that puncture shops check for puncture by pouring water on it. I ll try dipping it in a tub and check.

            • ^^ overcharge the tyre and then check. Like put about 40 psi at the front and 42-45 at the back, and then check. I did that a few dozen pages back to trace a miniscule leak in my rear tyre. Also if there are any existing repairs that are leaking, it will show up only under a higher tyre pressure.

                • Hey all,

Just wondering, are there really any major differences between the 2010 and previous models? I personally found the old ones to be lighter... or is it just my imagination? Are the older ones faster and/or better handling?

                  I have a 2010, btw.

                  • After 1000 Pages of this thread and following it since the 1st post, I have hit on something. It just might be ME who is thinking this way, but why is that the New R15's 2009-2010 ones or precisely the new colour ones have so many engine and wear and tear issues at a few 1000kms itself? I know, its how one rides that also matter. I'm not talking about brake pads and such small things.
Now this is not to provoke anyone. It's just what I'm thinking. My friend got his R15 a month or two back and is having so many problems. Right from his Gearbox spring breaking to battery issues and even a Electrical Circuit failure.
Is it something to do with Yamaha itself? or with the Other Auto Manufacturing Components to the bike?

Never heard of any pros. The swing arm, performance, mileage all would be affected drastically

I second that.. I also found many customer coming to the SVC with complains on their 2010 model which was assembled in India. Also, the battery issue... its too much to ask from Minda right! Its now time to write to Yamaha and complain about this crap marketing strategy!

Sorry buddy, cant agree to that. if u see more issues being reported here it is because the number of r15 users visting this thread has inceased substantially. 2010 r15 is same in terms of quality as the pre 2010 version. Also when the number of vehicles on road increases the issues being reported also would go up. its a sheer reason of ratio of vehicles being ridden going up.

                          • I haven't had a single quality issue with mine so far (Bought April 2010).

What I was asking was, performance and handling wise, is there a diff?

Also, my rear shock seems to be really stiff, throws me off the seat on low speed bumps. Is this normal?(I weigh around 53 kg) The front forks make a squishing noise when going over ruts and bumps at low speeds. Does that mean they're low on oil? In any case, they're not major enough to be called quality issues. Right?

                            • I've had 1 single issue with my speedo-sensor going crazy. Apart from that, I have only praises for this bike
