Hey Born to Race.... I owned a Karizma for the last 5 years and now i moved on to R15. I never ever feel regret to my decision. It is a great bike. The handling and braking is awesome. If you can get one from your friend and take it to some corners. There you can realize what the bike is. I've ridden most of the Indian bikes. Though there are some cons. about R15, that we can ignore it due to the Pros. Vibrations are common to all bikes by time.
Anyway.. Don't hesitate bro... Have fun.. Ride safe.If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

pranjalshukla : i am glad that u likes my profile name.
thanks of the information tooo....
Thats true.I own a pulser 180 i hate the vibration and noise it makes after 4 years of riding.Vibrations are common to all bikes by time.
Iam planning to buy this against my dad wishes. Some how he cannot digest the idea of i lakh for 150cc.If some thing goes wrong with the bike then i will be in real trouble.
Problems are cropping up in reviews real fast .That's WHY I AM A LITTLE HESITANT NOW...
I love changing gears fast so low end torque will not bother me much in cities but NIGGLES will..............Last edited by BORN TO RACE; 09-23-2010, 05:05 PM.

will keep you updated about what happens next..but what's pissing me off is that tomorrow, ill be back to square one!
practically nothing has been done after all the time/fuel/money spent
..anything about the vibes btw?Originally posted by veyron999 View Post
the same old sound from under the seat,
went to the svc yesterday, they opened the rear wheel, tightened the screws of the mono, refitted the wheel- sound still there.
they told me to come again today morning.
went again-
had to take almost all the mechanics in the wshop for a ride trying to explain the problem. in the end when no one was too sure about it, they askd me to take the so called "engineer" with me. he too wasnt sure about the reason.
i then complained to one of the owners of the showroom, the bike being new and done just 1.6k in a month and a half. the fellow asked the mechanics to then try changing the rear suspension. as usual, they didnt have it in stock. they actually removed the mono of a not so lucky r15(old one which had come for insurance claim, had met with an accident) and fitted it in mine which included stripping the whole rear of the bike and lots of hammer work
and around 6 hours in all.all the while i stood see my baby in the worst ever condition
. even after all the pain, when i took the bike for a test(with the mechanic), the same sound still came. but when i took it with the owner, the sound came but less frequently but it still came. the owner then said we'll do a thing, we'll fit my old mono again and this time with utmost care(includes opening the rear wholly again, refitting), the sound should go...had no time, have an exam tomorrow
(haven't touched the books yet
)but mom, dad were putting pressure on me and those endless phone calls -lectures on how im wasting my time.. so i left the bike there and told them ill collect it tomorrow afternoon.. they dropped me back home(atleast).. and till now that's that. besides that noise, had hard gear shifts which they said they'll take care of by adjusting the clutch and some vibrations in the handle bars, which again im worried about.what could be the reason guys??
this is the first night i cant have a look at my baby before i sleep, feeling really restless specially with the exam(mom) on my head
just hope all the problems are rectified till tomorrow...
till then any suggestions??what to do now??specially abt the gear shifts and the vibes.. please senior members help me out..
and yeah till now i haven't found any xbhpian from nagpur, maharashtra. if any senior is coming towards nagpur from pune, etc. please let me know and if possible lets meet up- have hell lotta things to ask
..
btw thanks in advance..
after all the stuff, i got my bike back today - completely covered in dirt, oil, fingerprints and a missing rear yamaha emblem(one above rear tail light).
shouted at them, they bought a new one(after trying to fit a one they found lying somewhere) and gave it to me. after getting bike washed, i opened the seat and found an irregular thing. the air intake(not sure what you call it but im talking about those two square shaped holes on the tank wala side) was crooked - bent on one side, not as it was originally.. told about it to the guy, he said it aint a problem..having spent 8hrs at svc yesterday w/o food, water, standing all the while + 2hrs in the afternoon today i was too tired of complaining further.(just for the record- they didnt charge me for anything except washing). on my ride back home except for the same old "noise from under the seat" nothing else was abnormal except a kind of a hissing sound (not exactly hissing but a fainter hissing) which i ignored as i thought it was from the chain. all was fine till later in the evening i took out the bike and the follwing sequence started..
1-noticed vibrations from the front visor and the fibre part above the speedo console.
2-tightened the visor, vibes reduced a bit but not gone.
3-when i turned the handle towards the right, could hear some creeks from the handle - no idea what it is! doesnt come when i turn it to left. and believe me it doesnt end there.
4-while coming back(mom sitting behind) at low rpms in i guess the 2nd or 3rd gear, the bike MISFIRED
!!at first i thought i might have accidently pressed the clutch or something, but then it happened again actually in all it happened 3 times..
im seriously fed-up of all that has being happening. wouldnt have been much irritated if the bike were old or if i were an insane rider (no wheelie no nothing).
i again repeat my bike is hardly 40 days old (got it on 8th aug'10) and has done 1750kms till now.
what i plan now is to go tomorrow with mom to the dealer, ask him for a replacement

!! i have some contacts which could help and dad too will interfere(being in press, having mp's etc on his side). thats what im going to do.. there is no way i will stand there listening to the same- spark plug change karwa deta hoon, filter tight kara deta hoon stuff..btw for the noise problem, they said they've called engineers from pune who will be addressing the problem next week..
guys help me out anybody having contacts of some big-shot in yamaha help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought my R152 months ago (red) and already did 4.6k kmsOriginally posted by BORN TO RACE View PostSeems to have lot of problems in the new R15.
I was planning to buy one in next month, but now i will sit back and think once again.
I hate vibrations and lot of people complaining vibrations at 7000rpm
Any updates from the new r15 owners??
If there's a more refined bike in the country, then I am ready to buy it. Nothing beats this baby! It revs, It rev and it revs! I dont have any vibrations at any RPM, maybe minor resonant vibrations, but those are there in EVERY production bike! Some pieces are definitely having probs, but nothing that cant be fixed and nothing major. If youw anna buy and be happy = R15
Hey, congrats on your bikeOriginally posted by feinicks View PostHey guys! Got my Black R15 a 3 days back. Will post pics later!
Have done 350Kms till now (

). Can't wait to be able to cross 5000rpm.
Interesting discussion about the main stand. I have one question about this. The paddock actually:
I live in a bungalow, so public bumping into the bike is a non-issue. The only thing of concern is that the Garage floor is a little inclined; implying that if the brakes are not engaged, the vehicles roll back.
- So will using the paddock stand be an issue over here?
- Also, what are the man advantages of the paddock stand?
- On a related note, is it ok if I choose not to go for a main stand? Will this cause any problems?
There is another issue that I am currently facing: When I start riding the bike a noise sounds; its like rubbing of chain. The thing is that this only happens occasionally and that too only in the 1st gear. I initially thought that this might happen due to a wrong shift, but I take care while shifting to 2nd, but still the noise comes for at most (till now) 2 times. Then its gone. Is this related to the noise issue being discussed. FTR, the roads are smooth - e.g. ganeshkhind flyover, for Pune guys.
One last question. The HIDs: The SVC guy told me that I should not do anything to the bike till the 6 services are over. That of course is the typical response, but when is it a good time to get them? And any good place in Pune? I am aware that this may have been discussed, but its over 1100 pages. So you can guess.
Really? That long? I booked mine on 10th and got it on 16th!!
The factory showroom (wakdewadi) has them and frankly, they are crap. Its better you go to DSG.
----
Anyone got the tankpads fitted on their bikes? Like the ones available at DSG?
Its an angel
Well, I didnt buy the paddock stand cause I park my bike in the basement of our building and lots of people there, so didnt wanna risk it.
I asked the SVC the exact same question buddy, but they said ''HIDs are BAD'', one mech even pointed at a passing Audi Q7 and said ''Those bulbs require 50,000Volts and wont work for bikes''
I got them anyway from a local autostore. They are awesome and road visibility is way better than before
Yes, I bought a KEITI MARS REAPER tank pad from planet dsg a few days ago. It arrived in perfect condition and fit the bike perfectly
Looks awesome too
Here's a link to it: http://www.planetdsg.com/keiti-mars-...100-p-795.html
I stuck it myself. The thing came with good instructions and a cleaning cloth and a keychain
I'm loving it.
Dude, when I bought my bike, the headlights were not aligned properly. I went to the Yamaha website and registered a formal complaint with lots of BIG words. THe same day, I got a call from the SVC, they requested my presence, took the bike, completely serviced it, apologized for inconvenience and swore that they'll fix any probs if they arise in the future.Originally posted by veyron999 View Postafter all the stuff, i got my bike back today - completely covered in dirt, oil, fingerprints and a missing rear yamaha emblem(one above rear tail light).

You better register a formal complaint and threaten to take the matter to a consumer court. Say that the SVC has ruined your bike and you have been emotionally stressed. Ask for a new one
ANd I have a question now :P
I wanted to make a tire hugger for my bike using the Honda CBF Stunner FIs rear tire hugger. There are 3 Honda showrooms in my city and I went to all of them for it, none of them had the stock!
I went to local autoshops and parts dealers and none of them had it either. Then, I decided I'll try the Bajaj XCD 135s rear tire hugger, but to my frustration, none of the Bajaj showrooms had the hugger either
I need one asap as the rains and the mud splashes dirty my silencer and the pillion rider's feet everytime! Someone please suggest something

Afr
Hey guys,
Anyone got an update for SVC's in Bangalore having
an AFR meter? Please post..
Also guys that have tried out semi-synth and fully synthetic
engine oils, which oil gave the best results in terms of smoothness
and general 'good feel' ?
I've done almost 8000 kms in the 3 months that i've owned my R15,
and have been running on mineral oil. Should i first replace the oil to
semi-synth or can i directly go for fully synth? and do i need to flush
the system before i change over..
Assistance wud be much appreciated..

You may switch over to semi synthetic/synthetic depending on what you prefer.
I would prefer semi, as topping up is what would be required in fully synth. Which I am not a fan of. I would rather change my oil than top it up.
Remember to change your oil filter though when you change your grade.Last edited by sheelpriye; 09-24-2010, 10:37 AM.

Guys, I have another query here. The dealer where i bought the bike dint give the front number plate(good riddance
). I have been driving the bike with only the rear license plate. havent been stopped by any cop yet though. Is it mandatory to have front license plate as well? or will the rear plate alone will suffice.
Do let me know if we have any law that stipulates us to use front license plates as mandatory.!

Yes dude, we should try this, make a custom fitting and write a ''Do It Yourself'' guide of how to do it. Lets try this seriosulyOriginally posted by neoakshay View PostHey bro,

Npe, I just got myself an original yamaha RX100 center stand and pin from a spares dealer. It fits perfectly and works flawlessly. Maybe you have the wrong stand. I have put up pics in my previous posts..Originally posted by zerotosixty View PostGuys, As suggested in previous pages I got myself a RX100 center stand and shaft. But the diameter of the shaft is quite big and isnt going into the stand properly. Is it the same case with everyone or do i need to get myself a smaller dia shaft?
Oh yes dude, Indian law states that a vehicle MUST HAVE front and rear number plates displayed in prominent positions! I had a sticker in the front and even that is not allowed. You must have a plate. If the cops stop you, they can rightly fine youOriginally posted by zerotosixty View PostGuys, I have another query here. I have seen the pics and i tried to create a make shift stand using a jumper. And well, it worked out good.. But the shaft is too big to fit into the center stand's hole.
If its mandatory why hasnt the dealer given me the number plate or has it got something to do with Yamaha.. Can anyone let me know if the new R15's come with front license plate?

nope, they don't. better than the no. plate just goto anyone who does the no plate thing and ask him to stick the no on the front mud guard. it looks better, no one will stop you either..Originally posted by zerotosixty View PostI have seen the pics and i tried to create a make shift stand using a jumper.
