I dont know whether you can claim warranty being the 2nd owner or not, but I'll suggest that you get the radiator replaced in warranty while the bike is in the first owner's name.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostHi guys, I am planning to pick up a low mileage, 2008 end model R15.
I remember reading on this thread about some parts being defective and replaced FOC. Is it safe for me to buy this bike, as with me being the 2nd owner, I will not be able to get the parts replaced under warranty?
Please do clarify my doubt.
The only changes in the older r15s and the new ones is the horn mounting point. Older r15's had the horn mounted on the radiator and it caused leaks in some cases, hence the design was revised. Apart from that there hasn't been any change and in a way you'll be benefited as a 2008 r15 would've been manufactured and assembled and then imported, while the newer r15's are being imported and then assembled in India.
How many kms have been clocked and how much are you paying?

how would the SC guys know that u're the second owner unless u tell them...
and it's not like they ask for the bike's registration docs or anything right???
so why would it be a problem?
and... is there a clause by manufacturers regarding the second owner
not being able to use the warranty??.

guys, an update on the sound that comes from under the seat..the same tukut tukut sound..
the engineer who had come from pune too could not find any culprit as of now..
though we listed out stuff that cannot be the culprit!
he tightened the chain to the fullest and we went for a ride
but the sound was still there, so the chain isn't making noise, its something else..
so those guys said that there is a slim chance that the rear mono would be making noise or the link that joins the mono to the chassis..
so they have asked me to come again whenever and get the mono and the link replaced (foc ofcourse) ..
but what im worried about is that it would include reopening the whole rear section of the bike.. and if the noise still doesn't go then?
and as he said, the noise doesn't seem to be that big a problem...
i can live with that sound, but cant live with the bike getting worse..
i don't want them to fiddle around with it again like the previous time...
watsay?after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

Ok, so for the replacement, I just have to tell the SVC to replace it, correct?Originally posted by Parth View PostI dont know whether you can claim warranty being the 2nd owner or not, but I'll suggest that you get the radiator replaced in warranty while the bike is in the first owner's name.

IFAIK, there is some clause which voids warranty beyond the 1st owner. No sure if it the same for Yamaha too.Originally posted by xionite View Posti don't get it... let's say u buy the bike...

Thanks mate......Originally posted by veyron999 View Postare you done with your 2nd servicing? if no, get it done and feel the change..
it anyway is a general trend that a bike tends to get smoother along the line...

Anyone on this???Originally posted by Ascetic View PostThe old R15 had 5 element clutch plates and the new one has 4 elements in it??? Does that make any performance difference ??? beacause i feel that the older R15 is much more quicker than the new one i.e true racing colors

Yeah, they'll replace it free of cost but you'll be charged for the coolant that goes in the new radiator.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostOk, so for the replacement, I just have to tell the SVC to replace it, correct?
If it hasn't been down ever then the price is good, if downed then try to negotiate till 75Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostJust checked out a Dec 2008 model with 6k kms on board at 80k bucks. Test rode it.. it seems fine. What say?

Got myself a pair of front disc pads.
Have fitted them and have rode some 20kms. The feel is good but will be able to post about in detail post Diwali as I am not able to ride to my full potential inside city confines.
Posting pics of old & new pads.
The old pads had to be scrubbed off with sand paper so that the clips got eroded, else they would tamper with the disc plate.
^Sorry that the 300V is in picture. Haven't used it.

Dude, another guy had this problem some months ago in this thread itself. They did a lot of things to his bike including changing the suspension, but couldn't get rid of that sound. The same 'tuk tuk' sound. It kinda screwed his bike. Go back and read his problems, he was really frustrated.Originally posted by veyron999 View Postguys, an update on the sound that comes from under the seat..the same tukut tukut sound..

planning to get a root xenos or minda security system..
can any owner tell me if fitting a security system to my bike will affect the electricals and if so then can i adda extra battery to the sec.sys to fuction without making connection to the existing battery
my dealer says that installing these sec sys will creat problems. like the sound heard by the Ele circuit while the keys are set to on will not be there any more , so i am thinking to go for extra battery if i fit the security system
