  • Issues with Idle RPM and few other issues

    Experts- help me.
1)Recently I am observing Idle RPM fluctuations in my R15. Earlier it use to shoot to 1500 and than settle down at 1400 without any fluctuation. But now it shoots to 1400 and than settle in between 1300-1200 and keep fluctuating. Though the fluctuations are minor but never faced earlier.

2)Another thing, normally I get 38km/l but recently I am getting much lesser than that. There is no change in riding style (infact now I seldom rip my bike ) . Is this issue related to above issue

3)I feel the ride and suspension to stiffer these days. As if front fork alignment or some other issue. Impact- feel weird and uncomfortable while taking a sharp turn.

Details-Around 5900 Km on Odo, last servicing done around 4900 km. Never missed till date.

          • @parth and sheepriye - no worries. The mineral oil dies out in the R15 around the 1200 kms mark, and the semi-synth lasts about 2.5k kms, So you are good to stick to semi-synth after the first service.

hmm I was wondering if I could pour in the motul 5100 v in the next service........its a semi-synthetic oil with rating as 15w40

              • hey guys what should i do about the tyre issue of mine....i again got it checked by the puncture guy an he was unable to find any other punctures...he advised me to go svc guys and complain about it.....and yet again....air filled in the morning at 35 was found 18 just an hour back........

cant i go and complain to svc guys and call it a manufacturing defect of somekind or what....i mean its just been a month and a half since i bought it......and ive been riding on Chandigarh city roads....never ever went off track.....plain metallic roads...not even in any potholes...then wtf is wrong......

                • ^^^ If you have not checked the valve yet, do it. The rubber in the valve may have some very small cracks that are not easily visible. If that is the case, then you can just change the valves.

                  • hello people,
I am experiencing some sound from my front shock absorbers whenever I move over a speed breaker or pothole...It also comes when the bike is pressed on standstill. The shockers seems to be a little hard as compared to a year old bike...My bike is 2 months old. Can anyone help on this...The svc guys told me that the sound is coming due the the oil the get compressed when the shocker depress. But I checked some bikes without this sound and also smooth shockers..The mechanic says that as the bike is new hence the sound and hardness...Are they right or is there any problem with my shockers??

                    • @Jiten ...thanks for advice
As far as front forks issue , I didn't do any wheelie stuff.... Normal rides for couple of hundreds on weekends last two weekends and started facing this issue.
How much does the front forks assembly cost?

For TB slip on... I have the stock one but looking for a good exhaust system. Just evaluating my options

                        • Ride Report

I bought the bike on Feb 10th. My baby has done 9500 km's.
Thought, this has given me enough time to understand and write about my experiences on the bike.

Where do I start. hmm... Trips...
I have been to my home town Guntur from Hyderabad some 4 times on this bike. A distance of 287 kms one way.I have done it in times between 4 hrs 15 mins and 4hrs 30 mins depending on traffic without stopping the bike even once.Non stop door to door.

Little did I realise then that I was doing it on the most accident prone route in AP.

This bike reveals it's true self on the highway. The way it pulls above 5000 RPM is something one has to experience.I have been riding a splendor all these years and felt the Honda engine is very smooth. The word that comes to mind for the R15 engine is "Refined".

All that remains in my memory after every long ride and whenever I think of the bike is the meaty part of accelarating and overtaking.

Zero vibrations.I tried hard to notice but I didn't feel any difference when doing 70 or 100 or 135.It was incredibly stable.

Contrary to people saying that one would get back aches after riding this bike, it's the opposite for me.

My splendor has a short handle and after riding it for an hour in city traffic I used to get severe lower back pains as it's an upright riding position.I don't have this problem on the R15 as we bend a little forward and this streches my spinal cord.

The first month I had wrist pains and then they went away.I was scared I guess, tryin too hard not to drop the bike anywhere.Kept reading stuff from XBHP and started huggin the tank with my thighs more .Stuff like,"Toes on pegs","Look where you want to go" are now automatic when I approach a corner.

The only part which affects this bike are the cross winds.I was over 100 in a open wide corner and the buffeting I received the first time scared me a lot.

Suspension is the best of any bike I have ridden so far.

Not every day is your day. I had my first crash on the baby 2 weeks back. Got her fixed and she is good as new.

Apart from routine service and chain tightening and lubrication, coolant top up I haven't done anything on this bike.

The bike has been a total "paisa vasool". Let's not talk about the attention stories. We can fill a thousand pages.

Every time I feel bored I take her out onto the higway and come back refreshed. My baby just loves the highway.
It's like she's sayin,"Flick it, flick it hard".

I am goin home this weekend.Just hopin it doesn't rain.
                          Guys, tell us your experiences.

I changed to Castro Activ 4T 20w40 ((is it synthetic or semi-synthetic) after my first service at 900kms... Feels no difference... The engine is still smooth....
My bike's done some 6000 odd kms and still havn't changed my oil filter nor did i lubricate the chain with a lube.. I lube it with the regular mobil used on regular chains...

@tharikiran: Nice report man! Yeap! This bike is meant for highway.. I have personally experienced it too... Don't be bothered too much by rain, R15's tires do hold up real good on smooth tarmac, be it rain or shine.

You just have to be gentle with your braking and enjoy riding in the rain, almost no traffic, it is bliss.

Pack you and your stuff such that rains won't bother both and believe you shall look forward to riding in the rains.

^^More than the highway I believe the R15 is at home on hill roads.

                              • R15 wheel bent

My baby recently bumped into a pothole/bump....while riding it on the outer ring road(bangalore)...due to which the front wheel is bent....i asked the svc guy(orion motors) to repair the same while 3rd servicing....but they havent done anything to that......

Shall i press these guys to repair it...or do it outside....becoz their attitude is very unprofessional....

                                Guys please suggest
