  • hey all!!
i completed 4000 kms on my machine today!

during the services they never adjusted the valves i mean the valve clearance and also never the teppets as well

you know the ride is not so smooth as before..
is that because of the unadjusted valves and tappets?

please educate me about the valves and the tappets
infact, i am getting a poor mileagge of 25 km/lt..

      • However, in cities where temperature reach extremes...a lower pressure is recommended as air expands in high heat.

          Hi guys,

I ill be picking up another yam this week.. Am confused though and need a little help...

I have grown up on a Rx 100... then updraded the same to 135 cc / 350 cc... Have always been an off roader. Now i want to buy and On Road machine and i have never looked beyond YAMAHA

1> please tell me if there is any difference between the 2009 & 2010 model? (Since 2009 = import / 2010 = Indian made)
2> What about the rust issue.. is every one facing the same?
3> the paint/powder coat of the RVM and Handle bars.. does it hold or does it come off (under normal wear and tear circumstance)

If i buy a new 2010 model i'll keep it stock... and if i buy a 2009 machine i'll upgrade the ECU, Exhaust and paint...

          Please suggest....

                • Guys my speedometer has gone haywire......While commuting to office today, I was doing about 55-60, suddenly the speedo started showing 117........then 0 then 34........(you got the drift)

after 5-6 kms the madness stopped and she was back to normal.

Is this an aftereffect of riding in rain?

is this fault covered under warranty? my bike has done 2600 kms only and the first service was done on time

Another thing, I was standing at a red light and a guy hit me from behind. I gave him a tight slap and then analysed the damage. No damage to the mudguard or indicators or tail-light and I didnt let her fall after the blow so the fairings are intact. The only damage is that the saree guard is bent. Shall I remove it completely or shall I do a little denting of my own and keep it there??

Keep the saree guard, it helps! especially while touring or crashing with a pillion :P

It is called muffler end cap, & is available in blue & silver IIRC. Costs 1250 bucks.
Is non-functional, and only enhances the look of the muffler.

If the speedometer reading issue crops up again, it would mostly be due to faulty speedo sensor. This part costs approx 600 bucks, & is covered under warranty. I had the same issue at 10k, and got is replaced for free, under warranty.
The saree guard can be retained for tourinf with bags, or if you have a pillion sitting sideways, especially ladies (or chciks ) wearing a saree. Otherwise, get rid of the damn thing. Can be easily removed with tools in the bike's tool kit.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

The tankpad is the only item for 700 da.
The muffler end cap originally costed 1250. I checked on the net too. Can't seem to find Yamha's official page for the bike's accessories though.

                            Need help guys!
My bike is running on yamalube semi-synth oil for the past 3k odd kms
The engine is smooth in gears 1, 2 & 3. But rough in gears 4, 5 & 6. Its as if something is getting stuck in the engine, & making kat-kat noise. And no, it is not the chain noise. I can feel some resistance in the engine in the last 3 gears.
Any idea what the issue could be?

                            • @ HotAntivirus: see the accessories list below, check out for the muffler end cap.

@ tibby: I had faced issues with the tachometer malfunctioning. I had a fun of riding my engine beyond the red line(>12,000rpm) at a speed of 90kmph.. Then I have to switch OFF and ON the ignition to bring it normal. I faced this for 3 times. Was that a problem with the speedo sensor?
My bike has done around 20,000kms in 10 months. Can I claim warrenty for that part?

@ experts: Adding to tibby's query on engine-
I am running my engine in synthetic oil, evn then I felt like holding a grinder. Even if I hold my throttle constantly, I can feel that my engine sound+vibrations raises up and down, say 30times in a minute. In the last service the mech said i have to replace the clutch assy. I am planning to replace the assy after 15 days/a month time. How to make out the clutch replacement?
