Is anyone facing issues of excess vibrations in their bikes? Mine (got it on June 24th 2010) has vibes literally EVERYWHERE! Handlebars, foot pegs, tank, windscreen rattles, faring rattles..u name it. There is even some kind of rattling sound when i rev it hard, especially around 6200 rpm. Its like something is loose inside the faring and is oscillating at high speed and creating resonance. Any suggestions?

It actually works, its true............though you cannot expect a 20hp bike out of 17hp bike after this break-in,but it rather helps the bike to extract its full potential of power throughout its lifeOriginally posted by RhythmRana99 View Post
and in any condition and season.

nothing to worry about. your bike is new. i guess the second service is not done yet. you need to get the tappets/ valve clearance adjusted. my bike used to vibrate at around 4,000 rpm. i found the real culprits were the tappets
..
nothing to worry about. get your r15 serviced and do let us know how good it is after the tappet adjustment
cheers, pranjal

no!Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Postso what you suggest my R15 is 3 days and 270 kms old not run above 4 RPM and 60 km/hr should i run it hard now?
never do that. wait for your bike to finish at least 1,000 kms. as the engine is new. do not stress hard. you can go above 7,000 after your bike finishes some 1500 kms. till then stick with 60km/hr or say 4,000 rpm
. i know driving her on slow speeds is frustrating.

This is the Motoman method of breaking in. Its still a debatable topic. Many people have tried it here with some getting good and some getting bad results. Some say its only for superbikes. But pesonally i dont have the guts to try it on my 1lac rupee plus bike.Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Postrecently went through an article whose link i got from superbikes section on xbhp....according to that article the run in of a engine should be opposite to that told by company in owners manual so i am totaly confused please help me this is the link .... New R15
Hi Guys,
After at least a month of research and test rides, i decided to pick up an R15. Ive been using Enfields for the past 10 years and dint want to settle for anything thats not worth the switch.
Hopefully my bike will arrive tomorrow as promised. Have a few quick ones for you experts,
1. Whats are the things that you would recommend i check when I take delivery of the bike. Must haves/good to haves
2. I really hate the new stickering. I ve booked a black and need a full black without the white stripes..what do you suggest
3. What would be the final take on the oil to use. Do i change it immediately or during the next service.
4. Do i stick to the instructions in the manual for the run-in time

One more consideration was the hugger of the XCD125, but gave it up as both would require drilling&the bike was new then, so didn't wanna take chances with warranty getting void.Originally posted by jd666 View Post@shee3 - i am trying to get my hands on the stunner's hugger, because it will be a direct fit for the 17 inch rear of the R15. You will have to remove the mud flap between the suspension and the tyre though.
Cold you please post the pics as an attachment? I'm unable to see them&really want to.Originally posted by MotoS View PostPhotos of the Stunner Hugger to R15 and some description on the fitting
The hugger was displayed in the Auto Expo bike if you remember, there is a pic posted by me long back (initial days) in the same thread. It was blue, with Yamaha written on it.Originally posted by MotoS View PostThe mud flap looks out of place in the overall scheme around the suspension a after thought they should have made a hugger as original
I also feel they should have made it standard.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

You can get the "ex"changed and may have to pay a wee bit extra.2. I really hate the new stickering. I ve booked a black and need a full black without the white stripes..what do you suggest
Talk with your Showroom manager.
I change oils at 40-150-400 and then at service.3. What would be the final take on the oil to use. Do i change it immediately or during the next service.
See what suits you, fill in Mineral oil till 1st/2nd service.
Absolutely Yes.4. Do i stick to the instructions in the manual for the run-in time

Oh! Hadn't noticed this until you posted now. I wonder they haven't made it available even as an accessory!
Can't seem to make much sense of these numbers! Can you please explain a bitOriginally posted by sheelpriye View PostI change oils at 40-150-400 and then at service.
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Fish! If they've used water, then the filter is as good as dead. Try opening it yourself, or get it opened in front of you and take a look.Originally posted by ashaq54 View Posti fear they might just had used compressed water to clean my air filter the last time, that might have clogged the air filter, causing the trouble.
in my case, when i depress the clutch fully and release the throttle, the the RPM drops to zero mark, on most of the occassions that is. however, engine revives again when i release the clutch, just like having a push-start.
strange isn't it...??
The rpm issue is indeed confusing. When you pull the clutch, does the ignition stop/cut off, or the engine is running, just the needle in the tacho drops to zero?
Try tightening all the fairing screws, also the 4 plastic screws for the front visor (with care, they break/disfigure easy). Other than that its too early for tappets to be loose. Check the engine mount bolts. maybe one of them's loose.Originally posted by ritwik23 View PostIs anyone facing issues of excess vibrations in their bikes? 1) Check the bike in sunlight for scratches. Check how many kms its run on the odo. Anything more than 2km means they've offered a test ride or the guys from the showroom have ridden it from wherever the stock was offloaded. Avoid buying it, as they are real idiots, and don't stick to rpm limitations.Originally posted by shafirfan View PostHi Guys,

4. Do i stick to the instructions in the manual for the run-in time
Go for a short test ride, check the brakes feel okay, and everything is in order.
2) For the full black, you can take the sticker off from the matt-black panel.
3) I've heard the fresh from factory bike comes with semi-synthetic oil. This is not confirmed. I don't know whether its true. If it is, running-in a bike on semi-synthetic is a strict no-no! Let the engine gradually wear and polish itself till atleast 6k kms before switching to semi-synthetic.
4) Do the run-in as per manual. for the first 500kms be extremely gentle. Don't go over 5k rpm. Beyond that, I had added a few quick dashes of speed runs (did 120-130kmph). Not constantly holding that speed, just accelerated, and then decelerated. Did this for about 4-5 times, and then did the normal run-in (under 7500rpm operation, throttle varied and never held constant).
I've done 16.x K kms, and still on stock rear brake padsOriginally posted by Sarvajit View PostDirt etc.is fine-what the bike badly needs is a service&rear disc pads+engine oil replacement!

Yep. Those were the days. Frantic searching, fawning over pictures, bashing other bikes on the forum, and waiting for the performance figures.
I wonder why they didn't manufacture the wheel hugger. It would be the most useful accessory compared to the stuff that's available. You get the point?? :D
