  • Guys,

Hope someone can help me. A couple of pages back I posted on how my week old baby got bumped & i wanted to verify if the price quoted is right. I need to replace
    1. the clear glass covering the rear brake light
    2. the centre panel above the rear brake light
    3. the right side panel which meets the rear brake light
Orion said it would come to 800 bucks for these 3 parts. Is that the right amount or is it too high?

Sorry for the delay dude, I'm in the need of a camera to click the pictures HydBiker is out of town too, so can't borrow his cam/phone. My CamPhone got stolen(been quite some time though). Will do something and try to post the pics ASAP..

And until then, I'll give you a textual description. It's located near the swingarm bolt. The swingarm bolt is visible from outside, but this nut which I'm talking about is not visible from outside. It's behind the cover which hides the front sprocket. You can see its bolt from the other side(right side) but you'll need access to the nut to tighten it. Which means you'll have to remove the sprocket's plastic cover first..for which I don't have the right removal tool.

      1. Rs.108
      2. Rs.116
      3. Rs.337 (I'm assuming this is the panel on which 'LC4V' is written on blue colored R15s)

These are costs excluding fitting charges..hope it helps

              • YAMAHA gets the kick

The ASC's just do not attend to jobs without a strong kick to their behinds. Am telling this from my two experiences. First it was with TVS and now the same is repeating with YAMAHA as well. People just do not let me stay good and piss me off to the extent that am forced to kick them and make them work.

A few pages back I had told about my R15 being very unstable. A few fork adjustments later it got worse. The bike just kept dragging to the left and I could not brake very confidently. The tire was suffering uneven wear. In the middle of the corner the bike was feeling very wishy-washy. It felt like the bike was going to tip off further or was straightening out in the middle of the corner.

Tried to take the bike to AMBAL MOTORS and wanted to oversee the bike being serviced. My friend who had tried to do the same got a wonderful reply as follows from the Service Engineer, Mr. Hussain : "I will never allow any of my mechanics here to touch your vehicle unless you leave this place. Your bike will never ever be ready if you are here”. By now, u should know the reply I would have got.

The above statement just blew my top off. Sent quite a strong worded email to Mr. Ramkumar, Regional Head, Yamaha. I immediately got a call from Mr. Haridas, Service Head, Yamaha. He directed me to give it to an ASC near my place called BIKERZ YAMAHA. The showroom owner Mr. Navukkarasu himself called me up and even offered pickup and drop for the bike. I preferred to meet him and so have dropped off the bike with them now.

The owner himself took a test ride and just wanted to know if the bike had been opened up anywhere which was not the case. The fork adjustments were also done only by me. So he and another mechanic are now working on the bike and have promised to get it ready by today afternoon by 3 PM. Lets see. I will update the thread with the results once I get the bike back. Hopefully the issues are resolved.

                • Thats good! Hope all the issues are sorted out by this evening! It feels a bit weird when someone does not allow you to look at your own bike getting serviced!
I always go to Pearl Yamaha where I can oversee the service&sometimes even help the mechanic to lift/remove parts, etc.

                  • Atleast the Bajaj Probiking showrooms allow you to look at your bike while it is worked on.

@Apar: Hope your bike is done by 3PM.

This could really be irritating. But I am curious to know about how your bike is treated 'now'. goodluck though!

I mentioned the same things in my mail. I said that I know friends from xBhp at Hyd, Bangalore who are allowed to stand next to the bike when its is being serviced while u treat us with such arrogance.

Mentioned this point too. I asked them how do u expect a customer who has paid a lakh to leave the bike when a BAJAJ customer who pays a good 15K less is allowed to watch the bike being serviced?

I expect good treatment if not royal. If they mess up again, they know where I will go. I would not even mind talking even to Mr. Sanjay Tripathi about this!!

I think AMBAL should have got some nice "words" from high above. Anyway lets see what the result is. I do not want to count my chickens before they hatch!

                        • Update! Update!! Update!!!!

Just got a call from Mr. Navukkarasu, owner of BIKERZ YAMAHA. The officials from YAMAHA were there from today morning inspecting the bike. Its all stripped out. On through inspection they have found that the steering column of my R15 is a faulty piece occurred due to manufacturing defect.

The good news though is that, the YAMAHA guys have agreed to replace the same under warranty. This piece is manufactured only in Japan and not in India and so no-one here has any stock. Hence they have placed an emergency order which will take a good 4 - 5 days to be realised. Yamaha will bear the shipping costs and the replacement costs necessary.

They wanted to know if I wanted to take the bike home or would not mind them having the bike. I agreed them to having the bike as taking it back and bringing it back will be a hassle for me. So lets see how soon YAMAHA responds and completes the process.

                          The count-down begins..........

Strange that even in Japan there are faults in QA. But then I guess your case is really a rare one. Whats a 'steering column' though?

                            • I think the front steering column is the full front assembly including the fork, cone set, handlebar mounts et al. Senior members could shed some more light.

                              • @Apar: Since the day you bought the bike, till the time you found the handling problem, you didn't notice any irregularities? I mean, earlier everything was okay, I presume? If it was, then I wonder how can this be a manufacturing defect.

Anyhow, it's really heartening to know that YAMAHA is making sure that your machine turns out to be in perfect condition before it is handed over to you. Do keep us all updated as and when the part(s) arrive.
