  • Chain Noise fixed finally!

Thats good...many of these issues go unaddressed&when they do show up in full force, warranty period is already over!
I think its ok to leave the vehicle there.

@All: The chain noise has been fixed finally. Back to smooth old days!
I have a few tips to give all of you which I hope helps in eliminating chain noise.
    1. Keep the chain slack a little less than required. It does not matter if it is a bit loose, but over-tightening it causes friction&hence the chik-chik noise.
    2. Please clean&lubricate every 500kms. as per the manual. The last 2 long rides have really proven this to me. I finished off 500kms. in the first week&by the time I went to him today, it was well over 800kms. since the chain was lubed&cleaned.
    3. Cleaning off dirt with a cloth dipped in petrol helps, but that should also be wiped off with a dry cloth.
    4. DO NOT allow any of the mechs to use normal oil or anything other than the lube spray on the chain/sprocket. This seriously hampers smoothness.
    5. After lubing, putting in a little grease near the sprocket also helps.
    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

I did find something wrong with the handling and I told that every time I took the bike for free service. I always felt the bike a bit dragging towards the extremities and a bit washy compared to other R15's. But I never felt an issue while braking or a scenario as bad as I am experiencing now. Every time I put this complaint the Service Engineer at Ambal, he would just tighten up the fork(atleast that's what he used to say) and return it back. Due to the manufacturing defect the fork cone-set and other bearings and metal parts that come into contact with each other have worn themselves out in irregular fashion causing these issues to be magnified now.

Sure, I will keep this thread updated, so that it is helpful to the others here too.

            • Sorry to break the chain...

Just got my R15's front visor coated in Black Matte finish..I personally liked it very much and the response from people is good too.. How does it look guys...

Infact 2 other R15ers were present at the spot out of which Darkknight and I got it done that day and Shadowboy is planning to get it done soon. He had come on his enticer that day so couldn't do it.

              Here are the pics...

                • Hey Ketan, How did u do that? Looks good man. But black might hamper visibility while crouching, right? Even I wanted to do that on my bike..... but not complete black, but a dark shade of blue like the ones used for car windows. Heard that its not possible.... Would really like to know how this was done.

Vinyl only...No other proper option as of date ....

@apar:The helmet after crouching ,touching the top part of visor takes care of aerodynamics to achieve top end.
Moreover in case of being uncomfortable than can easily change as the visor is damn cheap rite?

Oh, I had tried vinyl&also window film on my old visor (had to scrap it coz it got scratched badly while removing the pooja chandan marks)

Window film doesn't stick on due to the curvature.
As for the vinyl, just take a look from the back part i.e., from where you are sitting on the bike, it looks naturally tinted! I felt that if you do it on the reverse side, it gives a completely tinted look&whats better is peeling off will be minimal as it is on the inside. I suggest you also to try it, but for that you would have to remove the visor.

                        • Wheelie toh we don't do...drag don't know but actually have touched 142 on palm beach yesterday,no issues.
film isn't possible on plastic surface sarvajit.
It is damn cheap satyen.100 rs. including that radium logo

we did remove the visor to get it done hence its a perfect finish & from the inside in crouching position it does seeem tinted but no vision per say

One other option I can think of is high quality powder coating or spray painting but would be costly and nobody has atempted yet.

All in all good from aesthetic point of view ,riding result will be known only after coupla weeks

Thank you.. same here.. DK answered the query...
Just to add.. before doing this coating we three guys, DK, shadowboy and I had gone to a nearby place where one can rip his bike, to test the speeds and make some videos(which u can see on my blog). That time we could manage to hit speeds in high 130s and were in fully crouched position.. At that time only I made sure this thing.. the visor visibilty thing.. Even after crouching completely i was seeing the road from over the visor.. Helmet was obstructng me from crouching more.. So finally took the decision thinking it's safe enough. And in any case a new visor costs somewehere around Rs.128 if m not wrong.. So can switch to a new one anytime..

This coat job could be without taking the visor off.. But we took it out for better results. what u r saying is absolutely correct.. There'll b less peeling off of the coat had it been from the inside...
