Everything was fine till I went to Vashi last saturday for getting my visor coated in black. While I was returning from Vashi, I realized one of the pilot lamps wasn't working. I thought either the bulb was blown away or there's some lose connection.

I couldn't do anything on Sat as I reached home very late. Sunday all the shops including Yam Service center were closed. So had to wait till monday.

On monday I was half way through to the service center and just by curiosity turned on the pilot and to surprise it had started working. I pulled over and tried on/off on/off twice or thrice just to make sure if it's truly rectified or not. It was fine and was working properly. So I took a U turn n returned home.

Next day the same thing happened. It wasn't working. Now I've decided to show it to the service center no matter what happens.

Just a few minutes ago I was washing my bike and it again was working.. I mean what the hell is this..

I am sure there must be a lose a connection.

I talked to a fellow xbhpian from Mumbai regarding this and he said another fella was experiencing the same problem with his main display. Everytime he thought of taking the bike to SS, it used to start working. Finally after 2-3 repeatitions the problem was rectified on it's own and is fine till now. Gosh... what's this all about..

Anyways.. I m going to the SS this evening. Let's what was the real problem...
Seems to be a loose connection but its just a guess. Do update us on this after you get it fixed.

      • Chill buddy, its just a loose contact. In most bikes, the wires are tightly arranged near the dome area. Pressure wash sometimes dislocates the wires. My R15's horn was feeble after the 2nd Service. Got it tuned the next day. My Fiero F2's neutral light also plays up in the same way after a pressure wash! Mostly these things are small&we shouldn't worry ourselves over them much.

Naah man.. m cool wid it... not worried at all... It was just a funny incident so thought of sharing with u people.. And I was even more relaxed cause I anyways was supposed to visit the Service center for some work...

          Well, been there this evening..
SS fella opened the cover and there wasn't any fault in the wiring or no lose connection..

He examined it well and finally decided to replace the bulb. I replaced both the pilots instead of one.. (costs no more than 30 bucks)

Now it's fine.. I'll have to check tomorrow as well.. If everything goes well then it's good...

                    Check for the following dude:

1)How many KMs have you done in this one month? What's your total ODO reeading till date? Since what reading have you been facing this roughness?

2)If it's been above 1500/2000KMs since last oil-change, and if you're noticing rough gear-shifts too, get the oil changed soon. If your bike is been run around 7000kms, check if you're on the stock DENSO spark plug, and if you used any fuel like POWER sometime. If yes, get the plug changed too...to something better like an NGK.

3)Does the engine make excessive metallic noise when compared to other R15s? If yes, get the tappet clearances checked and tightened if necessary(And the SS guys are VERY lazy to do this).

4)Check all the manifold nuts and bolts for looseness, tighten them with a proper torque. Tighten all fairing nuts and bolts too.

                    Update us on your progress
                    Sunny.

                      • Hey fellow Bangalore R15 owners,

Was going through the thread as I wanted to find out what is the best place to give my bike for servicing in Blore. Wasnt able to find a clear answer. Have bought it from Orion & my first service is due soon. Help.

Unrelatedly - 1 thing I noticed about Orion is the large number of R15s there for servicing, much more than what I had seen in the Panache SS. Dont ask what I doing in a SS before I bought the bike though ......

                        • My bike is ready

Just got a call from Bikerz Yamaha saying that the bike is ready. Will bge late from office today, so have agreed to take delivery tomorrow. No charges since its a free-of-cost replacement. Will take a test ride tomorrow and update here.

I had also complained of excessive rusting under the tank in my email. I forgot to mention it to the mechanics though. I remember that many of the other members here also were suffering from the same issue. Di any of u get it resolved? If yes, how? How did YAMAHA respond? What were the steps taken?

Me too!! (Keeping fingers crossed!). But I just did not want to confirm anything before I take a ride tomorrow. I actually did not want to post here, but could not hold it up. So lets see....

                              • Got the bike today

Well, I just got the bike today. Actually the fork cone set, the bearings and other moving parts have been replaced. But the steering assembly as such has not been. Since the steeing set would take much longer for arrival, this has been done is what I hear. This was actually a dampener for me. It felt like they did not keep up their words. But if the problem were minor and is rectified, it is fine with me.

I was asked to write a letter of satisfaction. I did not want to yet, as I had to leave immediately and no test drive was taken on proper roads. I just wrote a letter saying I am taking the vehicle now. I took it for a test ride and feel that the bike's steering is a lot more free. The mech. guys say that its due to new parts and its bound to get tighter as time progresses. So lets see about that. In the small roads I tried, I did not find weaving. will have to take it for a long fast ride on proper roads today evening and check how it actually feels. Will update that too here and if am not satisfied, I have to talk to them again.
